Snaps
I have a condition called Essential Tremors, which means my hands shake. Trying to tie a Palomar knot can be a fifteen-minute ordeal for me. For that reason most of my rods have snaps on them. I've not noticed a decline in hook-up ratio since I started using them.

What Is Your Image Of...?
This is one of the funniest threads I've read in a long time. LMAO. Glad you guys kept it clean. As for that parody of me, cut off about three inches of hair and you've got a dead ringer.

My Wife Is Gone
I'm beginning to understand why Ghoti offered me $25,000 to take my boat out...ALONE. I think nefarious business is planned. Should I call the police?

2012 Roadtrip! Be There!
Rhino, based SOLELY upon the Registration Forms I have received, AND assuming that each boater will fish with only one co-angler, we will have ten seats available and ten people needing seats. The plus side is that a number of we boaters can fish with two co-anglers. What throws a monkey wrench into the works is that different boaters and co-anglers will be arriving and departing at various dates of the week. That's why every evening I will poll the members of the group. NO ONE will be left standing on the bank. Traveler, I'm leaving it up to the members to post on this forum if they need a bed or have a bed, and then contact each other. If a member cannot find a bed, then they need to contact me via PM.

2012 Roadtrip! Be There!
Just a little update folks. The location of our Saturday night sworereray is yet to be determined. Our hamburger and red-beans-and-rice meals will take place a short walking distance from the hotel, down on the lake-side, weather permitting. If weather doesn't permit we will all be S.O.L. Our Wednesday evening dinner will be held in a private room at the Top O' the River restaurant, which is very close to our hotel. The Top O' the River is primarily a seafood restaurant, but other meal options are available. The average meal cost is between $11 and $15 and the cost is on you. You can visit the restaurant's web site at http://www.topotheri...62ad45f2fb10cb6 All events will kick off at 6:00 P.M. If there is not an event planned for that day I beg that all boaters with room available for co-anglers, and all co-anglers who need a ride, to meet in the hotel lobby at 6:00 P.M. Boaters and co-anglers, please try to rotate as much as possible. The more people we meet, the more friends we make.

I Quit From Your Crappy Forum
Stiller, there is no need to be so dramatic with your exit. Just quit. You will not be missed, since most people weren't aware that you were here anyway. Bye!

How To Fish A Big Lake By Shore
Well, are you going to be fishing from a boat or aren't you? Regardless, all fishermen turn a big lake into a series of small lakes. The advantage of having a boat is that one can move from a small lake to another small lake much faster. If you are constrained to fishing from the bank, then your big lake becomes nothing more than a small pond. The size of your lake is the distance of your cast, as it is with all fishermen when they first cast their lures. The trick is to find the right lure at the right place at the right time. There are tons of articles on this site that can lead you in the right direction. Please read them.

Ghoti, I'm not sure what you are talking about. I did send you a PM advising that I would attend. In fact, you've already added my name to the list. Have you been taking your medication?

2012 Roadtrip! Be There!
Great pics Glenn. I didn't know that so many were taken. That's a reminder to all attendees of the next trip. Bring your cameras and remember to use them! I confess that I am often remiss when it comes to taking photos, but I promise to do better this next trip. Let's all promise to do the same. Our last road trip to Kentucky Lake had so few photos taken that it was impossible to put together a montage of the trip. so, no montage, and no "official" pictorial record of our trip. Let's not let that happen again. Ready, set, Action!

Replacing The Wood In The Floors Of My Boat
When I replaced the decking on my boat I used regular plywood, but I painted it with a thinned-down fiberglass resin. I doubt that I will ever have to replace the decking again.

2012 Roadtrip! Be There!
Here's an update folks. It looks like we will be having the wine and cheese thing (soirée to you ignorant folks) on Saturday night, burgers on Tuesday night, the "banquet" on Wednesday night and Alpster's red beans and rice creation on Thursday night. Guys and girls, these meals are coming out of our own pockets, so we are asking that you donate five bucks a head for each meal. Any monies left over, if any, will be donated to the guy who busted his butt to host the meal. Where these events will take place are still undetermined - but will be. Zip Pow is on it. Edit: While I was talking to Zip Pow this evening, our conversation was interrupted because he was on the lake fishing at the time. While we were talking his buddy caught a nice one and ZP had to tend the net to get it in the boat. He came back on the line to tell me that the fish weighed ONLY about five pounds. Gotta love it!

2012 Roadtrip! Be There!
We are going to have a sit-down dinner on Wednesday night and a barbecue burger night, probably on Monday night. Also, Ghoti and Mary will be hosting a wine/cheese and sandwich soirée on either Saturday or Sunday night. I can't remember for sure, and I'm too lazy to scroll back through all the pages of this thread to find out which day it is going to be. Gary, how about chiming in here. The rest of the evenings you are on your own, but most of will gather in the lobby or one of the meeting rooms to sip a few suds and tell lies before breaking up for dinner. As for the days of fishing, everyone goes their own way, the boaters paired with co-anglers. The only competition will be biggest bass. Glenn or Keri will fill you in on the details.

Rod Holder In Front Of Console
I had one mounted on my old 17' Bass Tracker. It worked fine, but I could run at only about 35 mph. The only drawback is that the lures on the poles need to be well secured. At speed, it's very easy to end up with a couple of treble hooks swinging in your face.

Protecting Large Hd Units
The Lowrance head units come with a hard plastic cover to protect the screen. When I take them off my boat, which is EVERY night, I simply place them in a small canvass bag, face-on, and throw a towel in between. It's not like I'm carrying the Crown Jewels.

Non Wood Bunk Boards
I haven't tried them, but the next time I replace my bunks I'm going with those. They appear to be leaps ahead of the slick plastic ones that are guaranteed to dump your boat on the ramp if you are not careful.

Boating In States Other Than Your Own...
Those laws were primarily written to deter kids on jet-skis. At least in the states I fish in, there is a "grandfather" clause, meaning if you are over a certain age the formal education is not required, although it's very easy to get on-line. I take the on-line test every year or so, just to make sure I'm not getting senile.

Does Your Wife/other Groom You?
The only grooming tool my wife comes at me with is a weed-eater. She seems to have a fetish about my eyebrows.
