  1. Depends on what you mean by "area." I rarely make more than 10 casts from a single spot before I move down the bank. Sometimes that move might be only 5 steps, sometimes 50 ft. If I'm targeting shoreline cover, I'm constantly moving to the next piece of cover. If I'm working a drop off that's only a few yards off the bank, I'll make a cast (maybe two), then move down the bank 5 feet and try again. If I'm working a spinnerbait, crank, or even t-rig further from the bank, I'll fan cast the area from one spot (8-10 casts), then move down the bank about the length of one cast and start again. Think about when a guy in a boat moves down the bank pitching to stumps or combing a grassy flat. He's moving CONSTANTLY. You can move as fast as I do and still be way more thorough and methodical than a guy in a boat. x2 Could'nt have said it any better FatBoy
  2. Yes they do work, and quite well Started using them last year(did so-so),this year they have been on,one of my go to lures. That's a nice bass your wife has there, good for her. Caught the one in my avatar on pumpkin/black & green rigged backwards

  10. Raul, You amuse me.You know nothing about me.Yet this, like many other topics on this fourm you assume that you do.They call this ITHINKIKNOWEVERYTHINGIDES.There is a cure, just take a step back, close your mouth, open your ears and you will be truly amazed at what you might learn. You will also find that you won't need to pull your foot out of your mouth quite as often. TURTLE SPEEDBEAD, Whatever :-X

  15. Re: How difference does price make? IMHO,None When i first started bass fishing some 30+ years ago,I was taught to fish a rubber worm.I recevied a cheap combo and a pack of worns stuffed in my pocket. For the first few years this is all I had, caught hundreds of bass and had a blast doing it.Sure miss those times, things were alot simpler back then. But times they do change.I have upgraded to mid price stuff over the years.(nothing high end)dont feel the need nor can i afford it.I knock no one for what they spend or what they have.Basicly you do what you can do.I do think its sad that some need a 50,000.00 boat and 400.00 to 600.00 rod and reels to have fun fishing, not knocking it,just dont understand it.But to each his own.Give me a stick and some mono and I will catch fish and have a blast doing it. JMHO
  16. $5.00 are you sure?I thought it took a $300.00 to $400.00 set up to catch bass : nice bass ,great pic, awsesome little helper Well done
  17. That has not been the case in my experience. Yes you said that already. But it has been the case in my experience. I was just posting my opinion on this.Thats ok right? I can do that here right? I sometimes forget some of you guys know everything there is about everythig :
  18. Well ,all I know is what Papaw told us when we were kids Where carp will play The bass won't stay Don't know if thats true or not But if I see carp screwing around I move on.
  19. Sounds alot like a pit I fish.Very deep, sharp banks and stair stepping ledges.Althouth I have caught bass on many different lures(Jig&pig, plastics, spinnerbaits and crankbaits).I really like DD crankbaits this time of year(this week).Cast them up shallow by the bank.Work the bait Down letting it dig in the bottom (work slowly) Letting the bait come off the shelf(ledge)If there is bass hanging down off that ledge they will murder your bait.(Bigguns seem to love this presentation)Also,8 to 10 feet seems to be the magic number this time of year for me.That flat in 6-8 feet of water could be awsome.Exspecialy if the sun has had a chance to warm it up.I would try jigs and plastics around any avaliabe cover. Good luck to ya, let us know how it goes. Turtle
  20. Papaw taught me how to fish a worm, and the three tap rule. That was over 35 years ago.And he never knew Shaw Grisby. By the way, I feel a tap, I'm settin the hook
  21. Hey Brokejew, I've had mine a little over two years.I have'nt check it since last year. But,after reading your post you got me to wondering :-?. I got my 5#cast iron weight off my dumbell that I use to check it a couple times a year.5# on the money, checked it twice ;)I have had no problems with it at all.By far not the best there is but suites my needs just fine Turtle
  22. The camera is crap, and they are terrible pictures. It was much nicer in person, I want a real camera but I'm hardly able to afford GY products! How much would you say? Like I said, It felt very close to my 5.6 but it's much shorter, but has a much thicker head and body. I hooked him 2wice before and sat on him for an hour until I got him , 3rd times a charm =) I'm going to look on Google for a scale, any suggestions on good cheap ones? So we don't have to play this guessing game Very nice bass.Looks like about 41/2 to 5lbs .Kinda hard to say from those pics. I use a Berkly 50# digital scale (weights in ozs.) good scale for under $25 IMHO. Turtle.
  23. WOW!!!!!!!!!!! another nice one.You Cali. guys are killin me.I whish i could get to the point where I say: nice 8.0 lb'er (sorry, didn't bother with photos of that one) ::)Awsome,Always enjoy reading your posts and pics. keep'em comming Turtle
  24. I find these snap threads very interesting.I myself never use them. because: 1.Don't like using another link in the chain that could fail. 2.May or maynot change action or feel of bait. 3.I retie alot i.e. catch a fish, get snagged or hung, visual inspection of line and knot. 4.can tie a palomar knot very fast, feel no need for the ease or quickness of a snap. 5.Confidence in bait, will change technique or presentation first not bait. 6.Most important reason of all, Papaw said never to use them. Not saying anyone is right or wrong here JMHO. Turtle
