Well the bait monkey hit hard today lol! Stomached the purchase of a Daiwa Steez A TW, the price was $90 less than asking price at any local shop, top it off I've ordered one more rod and all my tackle purchases are done. The bill for all this. Wow! I've been fishing once thanks to this warmer weather and there are bass to be had. I'd say a jerk bait or finesse jig if you're looking for open water.

Haven’t had an issue with mine and I love it. Bought it at the end of the season and it’s never been a problem. Your mileage may vary.

No kids of my own, hell not even married but two nephews and two nieces. Oldest nephew likes to fish in the summer months, it’s winter now and he’s getting into hockey, other nephew isn’t a year old lol! Nieces are girly girls which is fine, but I think in time with them. I’ll leave it at that.

If that’s the case look at a Curado E 300 series, Curado K in 6.2, or a Tatula HD in 6.3. These are gonna be your best bet at a low profile reel handling the bigger baits. The only time I’d use a Steez would be finesse or jig fishing, my Zillion I’m okay tossing baits up to 1oz but nothing more. My Curado K I would throw anything up to 2oz with that reel, it’s strong and smooth. I have plenty of Kietechs and just bought some 6.8s they will be paired with a 3/4oz swimbait head or a weedless 6/0 or 7/0 weighted swimbait hook. Look on eBay, you may be able to find a killer deal for what you’re looking for.

Honestly, I would not throw a Swimbait on my Zillion SV that weighs 2oz. If I had to pick a reel in my arsenal to cast and retrieve a bait in that size it would be my Curado K even then I don't think it's the best for the job. At this point you're looking at a round reel like a Calcutta or Cardiff or going with a Tranx 300, Lexa, or Revo. However when looking at low profiles like them, we are talking big chunks of cash. Cardiff is 110. Another option would be a Tatula or Zillion HD, but then again they will only handle so much in terms of weight.

Honestly, similar rod with similar line and lure, I’d say the Zillion and Curado K. Both for whatever reason throw lures better. I had a Aldebaran and that took little effort to throw a bait any distance, maybe just the way they are. Now my Tatulas are my workhorse reels, I own three of them. Use them for frogging/pitching, topwater/jigs, cranks and jerks. My reels go: tatula sv 6:3 tatula sv 7:3:1 tatula sv 8:1:1 Zillion 6:3:1 Curado K 6:2:1 Chronarch 7:1:1 I’ve owned a Abu ProMax, Chronarch Ci4, Lews Tournament Speed Spool, Daiwa Luguna, A n C, and a Curado I. Didn’t care for Curado I. My Abu experience is meh, don’t like their reels. Ci4 wasn’t what I hoped for. Best bang for your buck was the Lews before I gave it to a friend. My A n C were good, but the Daiwa hype was good and I feel head over heals for the Tatulas. Really, I’m a reel junky, love trying stuff out and it gets bad when something catches my eye. Right now I have my sights set on a Steez A TWS, deeper spool then the SV and bigger knobs.

I own all four. Speaking to the Zillion vs Mgl chronarch it simply comes to comfort, Zillion wins there and that’s because I’ve fished with it more. The Chronarch does have its own place and will probably be a favorite. Tatula SV vs Curado K is much closer, love both. However I would still have to give the edge to Tatula simply because I’ve owned it longer and am more comfortable with the workings. I will say that Curado K will handle bigger baits better and be a bit more versitale. All four serve a purpose and will be a great reel for the price point. Cannot go wrong with either.

P-Line Tactical, I’m guessing once I start using it Subline sniper will be a close second.

Distance was good, I would throw a plopper and get good distance, same with cranks. However I use a Tatula SV 6:3 now and have used mono and braid which gives some varying distances.

I have a Powell Inferno Medium Mod Fast fiberglass, had a Curado 70 on it for the longest and loved the set up. Crank for squarebills and shallow crankbaits. Would also throw topwater ie ploppers and walking baits, but now it’s strictly cranks. Lightweight and good sensitivity.

Look at the Curados except the I, don’t like that reel at all. Braid to leader, mono or flourocarbon for material or you could go straight mono, copoly, or braid. I would be comfortable throwing big kietechs on my K.

Having fished the Curado K and Tatula SV side by side, the K takes a little bit more in way of fine tuning. However distance, line capacity, and smoothness all come with both, but the K will give you more line. Between the two, flip a coin as you cannot go wrong. I love the K and SV.

This is cool, wish I would of saw this sooner.
