  1. I just received a few emails that were not very nice and was directed to me from a couple of people on this site, wait, I should not say that. Let me reiterate. I received emails from someone whom read some of my post here. I have my mail blocked so, how did they get it? I tried to reply but, was not able or was blocked so here goes. I am sorry you feel that way about me. No, I don't know everything about smallie fishing and I certainly did not mean to come across that way. I just add input of my way of fishing for them. To me this site is a great learning source where we all have our opinions, throw them in the hat and use what we derive from other ideas. I have certainly learned a lot from here. I always leave my self open to new ideas and techniques. I have guided the rivers around here for seventeen years and have done well on smallmouth so I just thought my ideas might help a few people. I saw some people that lived near the Susky and in the upcoming year was going to invite them to a free trip but, man, it seems like a very small few are able to give suggestions and ideas but, anyone that differs is a ----------. Maybe you are right, I have a answer to everything, as was put to me. Yes, I do post a lot. I just get exited about fishing. It is who I am. I have loved this sport for many years. To the two who sent these emails, at least I think it was two people, why hide? If I give a opinion on smallie fishing then why not just add your two cents and tell us your way. There are a ton of guys here that fish the Susky and Upper Potomoc that are fantastic smallie fisherman. I never claimed to be, as was put " The guru all knowing smallmouth guide". Its almost funny. Wow, I am a guru !!! To you I say, I am glad you are all that, write some stuff so maybe I can catch a few of those brownies. Sorry guys but, those mails pi**ed me off.
  2. Cha Ching earthworm77, you have described my smallie fishing tactics practically 100%, in a moving water situation like the low, fast water of the Susquehanna below the dams. It can be almost like fishing for trout with a tube, do you agree? Look at my avatar, the Susquehanna is the queen of current breaks, choosing the right ones and why they hold fish is the secret. Not all of them hold fish. Great post, good stuff.
  3. Senkos and Zoom Centipedes fished wacky style, Super Flukes, Tubes, Jigs.
  4. I have a lake like that near my house. I have had a lot of luck with clear torpedoes early in the morning and late in the evening and wacky rigging Zoom Centipedes in green pumpkin as well as #10 Husky Jerks in the Tenn. Shad color.
  5. Good stuff earthworm77. I have seen the micro munch link on www.riversmallies.com/
  6. I will look on Yahoo Maps LBH. I am not sure where Leighton PA is. We are talking in the Harrisburg Pa area though. I am home sick today so, after I am done all this paper work I will get directions for you. Do you have a address in Leighton PA I can go from? Dizzy lives in that general area but, I live a hour and a half away. I run up I-81 from Hagerstown MD. I only live about 25 minutes west of Hagerstown MD. Hey, we could even run down to Three Mile Island. The fish are easy to find there, they glow in the dark!!! Just don't comb your hair there as it falls out, lol. ;D

This is the AV I use muddy, EZ Antivirus. It is very user friendly and has worked great for me the past couple of years but, here is a PC World comparison. I also use spysweeper ( www.webroot.com ) I like EZ Antivirus but, I think when my time is up with them I am going to www.bitdefender.com. My long time fishing buddy whom gives it great reviews for home security. He is the CEO and President of this company www.mobilepathways.com - 133k - Jan 18, 2007 -
  8. Yea Craw, I forgot to include the 6A and 7A. Hell, I have a whole box of them. I like them in Olive, Firetiger and Red the best. They are hard on those smallies.
  9. I am with ya. It would be a ball. Just say when. Even if I am still in a leg brace I will lock it down and crank them smallies in,lol. ;D

I feel for ya Avid. Insurance won't pay for a new knee for me so I am up for my third knee surgery soon. They took 18" of muscle out of the back of my leg to create a ACL, repaired the Medial and Lateral Meniscus and are going back in for more grinding of my Patella. I understand your pain. It sucks. Hang in there. Ask for Ultracet to get you through the Lake Fork trip. Your orthopedic surgeon will be familiar with this RX as it is for individuals with severe Arthritis. www.drugs.com/ultracet.html
  11. Need input. Is it cold water as in 35-38? This is the best time to catch them here for big fish. They stack up in the holes and winter haunts and can be easy to find and catch. If they are not hitting tubes then I would say you are in the wrong place. Smallmouth and tubes go hand and hand. Day in and day out, of all the baits for smallies, I feel that the tube is at the top. How about a scenario of water temp, bottom composition, fast water, slow water, etc. I am sure these guys can put you on them.
  12. A 17' Express 70/55 Jet Drive tin boat is what I run but, a small tin boat or Kayak is great and will probably get you where you need to go. Heck, I live a stones throw from the Potomac and I like nothing better than wading in the summer. I fish a place by my house where the river runs 2'-3' and I walk downriver with one rod and some tubes and work my way throwing straight up river in the main channel ( shoulder deep) and can catch 25-50 smallies every evening. Most are small as around 10-15" but, it is a blast. I am nostalgic with a lot of my fishing and revert back to when I was younger and didn't have a fancy boat and equipment. Its fun. 6' to 7' M to MH spinning rods with a fast to Xtra fast tip loaded with #6 and #8 test. I find myself using #8 the most unless the water is low or clear then I go to #6. I use Stradics. M-MH baitcaster, 6'-7'. I use Curados for #12 test and Abu Garcia's for #14-#15 test. 31/2" tubes in Smoke/Purple, Dark Melon/Purple flake, Green Pumpkin/Red Flake, Puke Super Flukes in white and Smoky Joe. Black Deer Hair Jig with a black 101 Uncle Josh pork frog. 5" Senkos in Green Pumpkin, Cinnamon/Purple Flake, Dark Melon/Gold Flake, Smoke/Blue Flake,Zoom Centipedes in Green pumpkin and Watermelon fished wacky or T-Rigged on a 1/0 or 2/0 hook. Zoom 4" Dead Ringers. 5" grubs in Bluegill, Cinnamon/Purple Flake, Pearl White are great. 1/2 chartreuse blades in Indiana blade spinnerbaits, Cavitrons in white. Zara Spooks, Spittin Image, Chug Bugs, Husky Jerks, Clear Torpedoes, Norman Little N's and Baby N's,Bomber 6A and 7A, Wiggle Warts in chartreuse/purple , Red or Firetiger. IKA's or Palm Trees. Sunken Islands, Rocky Bottoms, Grass, Main river channels in the summer, current breaks, Ledges are great, etc, etc. You will figure them out. What I gave you is a generic good start but, let the venue tell you what to use. Smallies are not very bashful and if it is clear don't be afraid to burn your lures or work them fast. Trust me, they can keep up in warm water. The most important thing_____ Have fun!!!
  13. If you can't make it until fall, give me a yell around the second or third week of November and I believe I could raise that life time catch up a few. The Susky is pretty good around then. Maybe I could Jet Boat you in the low water and I would bet Dizzy would hook you up with some deeper ones on up river, what do you think Dizzy? Think we could ante up his score on smallies? Just say when LBH.

Sorry for the Firefox suggestion muddy. I understand why you are gun shy with your new pc. For later reference though, I have had FF for a long time and have not had any issues to speak of. Good luck.
  15. I am a big fan of topo maps. Just remember, they are not always up to date. Lakes are one thing but tidal rivers and rivers behind a dam are subject to change from year to year due to current, silt distribution, etc. I always feel that researching a topo of a place is half the battle. Topo maps, GPS, Depth Finders, always make a large body of water smaller, as well as, put you on track of where to be in different seasons. Welcome aboard and good luck.
  16. Interesting reading and good stuff.
  17. Bullseye RW. This is big smallie time.

T-rig most of the time with a 1/8oz bullet wt. unless I am in more than 10' of water then I go to 1/4.
  19. Uhhhhh, I like blonds in tight cloths fishing, I am a American male. It would be un- American for me not to watch her. I would much rather watch a blond in tight cloths fishing than a bunch of dudes fishing and selling and advertising products for fishing. I mean, come on, I am not dead, only 50. ;D
  20. Nope, the loudest thing I want to hear in my boat while I am fishing is a buzzbait churning across the water. It does get loud in my boat if I take along a stick of deer baloney, that stuff always gives my fishing buddy and I gas. ;D
  21. I like Chompers Spider Twin Tails on a football jig. They do have a phew factor though. I thought about going to another brand because of this. Any suggestions? I like the 5".
  22. Congrats muddy on your new Dell. Ought to be a nice puter for ya. I am not sure what software you are running. Some people downloaded IE7 and didn't have any problems. My laptop pc is homemade and a white box solution, and I am loaded up. I had problems with IE7 because of some conflictions. I dumped it. I still have IE six loaded but, I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and really like it. I run XP Professional. Microsoft has had problems for awhile on security and I download all the patches, etc but, in Microsoft security I turned off "Download and Install Auto". I like to look at what I am downloading first. I like that I am told there are downloads available but, I like to chose which ones to install myself. If you don't do this after you have all the patches and such installed it will eventually get around to IE7 again. PM me if you have any questions and I will attempt to help you. Do you have DSL, Wi-Fi or Dial up? Go to www.cnet.com and read the reviews on Firefox. Look under browsers. There was a article giving a comparison of IE7vs MF. P.S.-- Everyone knows you cannot run a pc through the refrigerator first. You have to sequence it through the stove>dishwasher>microwave and then the refrigerator,LOL. ;D
  23. So, when it is available you will post a heads up on this site? Please. If its better than a Cavitron, I want a case.
  24. One of my best producers over the years has been a Bagley's Bang O Lure in 5", Black back, silver. It is a balsa wood lure and considered " Old School" around my neck of the woods. Its very erratic on the twitch. Anyone else had as much luck on these baits as I have had? Smallies crush them around here, as well as, green bass. It seems to do best for me at first light or late evening when the fish are shallow.
  25. Shimano Curado lefty, for a baitcaster. Stradic for spinning reel. Round reels, I like them, Abu Garcia 4600 C4 or Abu Garcia 5601 C3.
