  3. When I am running up the river I use a pair of gore tex gloves but, I keep a case of those brown jersey gloves with the red inside in the dry box. When the pair I have on get wet I just put them in a bag and put a dry pair on. They are not that expensive by the case.
  4. Florida certainly made a statement tonight.
  5. For that kind of money its hard to beat a BPS Extreme or a Pinnacle SP3
  6. Thats just too good. That lawyer is my kind of guy.
  7. On the Susquehanna in PA and on the Upper Potomac in Maryland you can look for winter bass in the current breaks and eddies on the outside bends of the river. Anything blocking the current and that is a easy ambush spot. When the river is up , fast and muddy---my favorite time--- they are pretty easy to find. We do well in those conditions around here. It pushes them up on the banks in the current breaks such as fallen trees, rocks, brush, down current points, etc. I usually start at the bottom of the eddy and work my way up. Fish sssssssslllllloooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww.
  8. Ice down the Sammy Adams, break out the crab ball, turn on the gas grill for the steaks and shrimp and turn off the phone. I am ready for this game. ;D Florida Gators vs. Ohio State Buckeyes Betting Odds PDF Print E-mail Written by Steven Hastings Monday, 08 January 2007 Florida Gators vs. Ohio State Buckeyes Betting OddsThe Florida Gators and Ohio State Buckeyes play in the BCS Championship Game tonight in Arizona to decide college football's national champion. Both teams have demonstrated all season that they belong in the final BCS Game. Florida has not been kind to its gambling friends only covering ATS 4-of-13 games so the staff at Point-Spreads.com wants every bettor to be aware of the value of line shopping to gain an extra advantage over the house. The slight difference in the lines available can be the difference in cashing a winning ticket or not and in the case of the Florida Gators fans tonight, we have found an extra half a point for you. HeritageSports.com is offering the Gators at +7.5. That half a point might go a long way if the game goes to overtime since most overtime games are decided by either 3 or 7 points. Ohio State has been solid all season cashing for its backers covering against the spread in 9-of-12 games. Sports Bettors that believe the Ohio State Buckeyes are the play tonight in the BCS Game should take a look at reduced juice sportsbook PinnacleSports.com which has the Buckeyes at -7 -105 instead of the traditional 110 juice. Basically $5 dollars per $100 bet on Ohio State. The UNDER has been very consistent cashing in 9-of-12 games the Buckeyes played in and the UNDER was the best total bet in Florida games as it cashed in 8-of-13 games. Bodog.com currently has the best line for the UNDER 47 bet since everyone else has the line at 46 110 with the sole exception of reduced juice sportsbook PinnacleSports.com which would be the place to bet the over at 46 -105. Once again saving bettors $5 dollars per $100 bet on the over. Make sure you checkout our live point spreads for the game at http://www.point-spreads.com/PS-CFBLines.php to get up to the minute line moves before the start of the BCS Game between the Florida Gators vs. Ohio State Buckeyes. Kickoff is at 8:15 PM EST on FOX. Next > [ Back ]
  9. I don't think that a bass " knows " anything. They do not function as we do or how PETA for example portrays them. I think when it is cold the basses body metabolism adjust because they are cold blooded and adjust to that specific situation. I think anything a bass does is through a primitive system that is programed for the basics. Self preservation, food, cover and procreation. I feel that a bass cannot reason except for these basic genetically passed on basics. I agree with Raul. The Pineal gland reacts to length of days as well as water temps maybe as well. I do not understand why humans try to portray fish like they actually have a reasoning and thought process as humans do. The real world for fish is far from Walt Disneys movies. Its primitive and basic. The biology of a fish--- www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/biology_of_fish.php
  10. I talked to my son last night whom just got back from almost two years in Irag and he has been a big FG's fan since I can remember. That boy lives college ball. Just for him I hope FG's wins. Anything can happen. I mean look at the Dallas field goal attempt the other day.
  11. RW, are you in cahoots with my best fishing buddy? I use all Stradics and he has all Stella's and I tell him they are over priced and my Stradics work just fine for me. I used one of his reels last year one day and I have to admit they are svvvvveeeeeeeetttt. I might have to break down and buy just one I guess.
  12. This is another technique that I really do not like to use but, it is a great spring flats tech. and summer points way to fish. I used to throw them a good bit on the Lower Potomac in the spring and had my best days using lizards with them in green pumpkin. I started throwing a mojo rig instead as it is not a bulky to throw. I use a mojo cylinder sinker pegged about 15" up my line and usually throw a Zoom Centipede in green pumpkin or watermelon on #12 test and a 7' MH rod.
  13. I am sitting here laughing at myself. I thought---before I joined this forum---that I had the ultimate top secret for this area as I had not seen or heard of anyone throwing them( Ika ) and bammmm, my bubble was busted. I used those Ika's for the first time last spring and they waxed a lot of fish. It is annoying though. I hate throwing senko's and Ika's because it is just too slow for me. I like to pitch, hop, hop, reel, pitch, hop, hop, etc, etc, and cover water and I try not to use these slow falling baits but, they just work. Please, someone help me leave those things alone. They should pin the phrase " aholic " to these baits. I am starting to feel like I need to say " Hi, my name is Jim and I am a Senkoholic and Ikaholic".
  14. I am going to be realistic for these Maryland Waters. I am going for a 9 green this year and a 6 brown one. For some reason it seems the 6's are getting rare on the Potomac and Susquehanna. Its funny what ten years will do to a fisherie. Oh, and Randall, I think you must have died and went to heaven. Those are some awesome numbers you are throwing out. I wish you luck. I could only imagine living around stock like that. Those are some hawgs. :)By the way, has anyone noticed the trend on sizes related to the region everyone is from?
  15. You are right. It does look like a decent reel from what I can tell in the picture. I don't think it is junk.
  16. That medium is pretty light for flippin. I think that most of the time you might be able to get away with it but, remember, flippin is on short line and if you are in lay downs or brush those fish will try to bury themselves down in it most of the time. You have to be able to set the hook and put the pressure to them to turn them. I would say go to MH and #20 test but, if you decide not to I would recommend Big Game #15 for your medium rod and flippin.
  17. I agree with Ronnie. Why have a reel for one specific purpose? Don't get me wrong, I think the flipping switch reels are sweet. A 7'6" rod rated for #15-#30 test falls in the same category. Its only good for one thing all in all. I have a 6'6" MH Team Allstar and a Abu Garcia C3 that I use #20 Big Game or Dura Tuf on for flipping and have never had a problem with it, plus it is still great for throwing spinnerbaits and pitching worms. Most of my green bass fishing, or at least 75%, is with a flipping technique. I have pulled some pretty fair, big bass out of some heavy cover with this setup. When I flip on the Lower Potomac here I have another rod which is identical but, I have #25 and sometimes #30 test on it because of the zebra mussels in the pads and on the pilings. Sometimes on a few fish I feel I am pushing the limit on my rods but all in all they work. Its back to the same old adage though, if you would be happier with a flippin switch and big rod then do so. Just my opinion.
  18. I never use them unless I am fishing a tournament and then very rarely. I thought about getting one though. I like those clear rubber ones. www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=74345&hvarDept=100&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode...
  19. Oh yea, pick on us Scottish people. Now our deer are carnivorous. Next thing you know you will be telling us that or rabbits are killing and eating the local pets. ;D Just kiddin ya. That is interesting. Every time I think I have seen it all something like this comes up. Nature is pretty amazing and so adaptable.
  20. Yes cart7 but, this was beyond my wildest visions. OK , Mr. Martin, its time for your meds now, and remember, there will be finger painting and basket weaving in the Florida room today. ;D
  21. OK lightninrod, what is that thing? I am perplexed. Is it a multiplier like Ronnie said? Please send a link if you can. Thanks. I have been staring at that thing for ten minutes and have to admit, I do not have a clue. Wait, I think I know what it is. You have a relative that works at Area 51 and he smuggled this out. Strange, I do not see any alien writing on it. :-? The more I stare at it I think Ronnie might be right. It does look like some kind of fly reel.
  22. , wait a minute, wait a minute, what did I miss. I just left General Bass Fishing to come over here to Everything Else and now you all are telling me that cow farts are the reason for it being 70 degrees on Jan. 7th. I say feed them bovines some deer baloney and sour kraut and keep Ole' Bessie tootin', I love this warm weather.
  23. Lynyrd Skynyrd ---any song this band ever did is number one with me.
  24. Every time I think the bait co. run out of ideas they find another hook.
