  1. In order to stop the greenhouse gas affect and carbon emissions on our environment, even if global warming is not real, you are stepping on something much bigger by putting mandates from the EPA on big corps and affecting their revenue.2+2=4, and always will. If you start fooling with corporate America and their revenue, as well as, the revenue that the federal government receives from those corporations, no matter how bad they think the outcome of their actions, the bottom line is, the almighty dollar and the quarterly reports. That is the real world and this is not just about global warming either. Two good examples of this is the Exxon Corporation's rape of Americans wallets and the Love Canal. This is not just the case on a top level but, on a municipal level as well. As Forest said " And thats all I have to say about that ".
  2. Maybe I stuck my foot in my mouth for my comment. I would say that the guy that started the company did it in ernest. I guess you just have to try one. Siow Chiang & Company Private Limited ("Siow Chiang") is most well known in South East Asia as a leading wholesaler and manufacturer of sports fishing tackle. It has its origins in Singapore as an importer and exporter of toiletries, cosmetic, textile and chinaware since 1926. In the 1950s, the Singapore economy was then recovering from the ravages of World War II. Recreational fishing was starting to become popular and since its shop was next to the beach, SIOW CHIANG began to sell sports fishing tackle as well. This strategy was right as Siow Chiang soon realized that there was a good growth potential in recreational fishing. The Company then developed itself into a medium size importer and wholesaler as well as selling their agency products at their own retail outlets. In 1975, Siow Chiang set up subsidiaries in Malaysia to further strengthen its distribution network. Since then, Siow Chiang's sales team penetrated new markets in the whole of Malaysia with offices and warehouses at Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kuching. 2 more subsidiaries were set up in the late 1990's in South Korea and Hong Kong as part of the expansion plan. Today, Siow Chiang continues to expand worldwide by establishing linkage with associated companies in the ASEAN and Asia-Pacific regions and making connections with interested parties around the world. Besides representing internationally reputable brands in designated markets, Siow Chiang has also invested heavily and extensively in researching, developing, designing, innovating and creating its own brand of products. Its proudest achievement was to introduce to the world in 1997 a homegrown, Singapore brand, SURECATCH. There are currently more than 3,000 items sold under this brand worldwide, consisting of a full range of fishing rods, reels, lines, lures and related supportive accessories and outdoor products. Siow Chiang's mission is to establish a one-stop shopping concept for all wholesalers and fishermen worldwide. Siow Chiang is committed to quality excellence, innovation, creativity and value for money fundamentals and it has honoured its promise to deliver the best to the world's fishing industry. Siow Chiang's Group Managing Director is Mr Toh Lim Mok, BBM. It's Group General Manager and Product Development Director is Mr Alex Toh. It's Group Assistant General Manager and Manufacturing Director is Mr Loke Swee Leong. 4. Sorry Muddy. I didn't know you had already posted that one. I read it and thought it was funny. ;D

There you guys go again. Educating me when I did not even have to ask a question. Man, this is a fine post. This one has answered some questions I had on line guides. Thanks.
  6. You are right Avid. Just the tech of the roller bearing on the bail was a vast improvement. Remember how it was before they came out? I am sure some bright young mind will come up with something. I hate that sound of a loop going through a guide from time to time.
  7. ........I switched all my crankbaits and hard jerkbaits round split rings with the oval ones. They are much easier to work with. I am just as particular with my treble hooks as I am with my regular hooks and if they get a little dull, rusty, or bent up I replace them. BPS sells them.
  8. If you ever notice on those public lakes a lot of the fisherman are die hard bank beaters. They follow each other in single file all the way up the shore pitching and winding. I use my depth finder and have a ton of spots marked where I never see anybody or at least not many fisherman go to. Sunken islands, sunken logs and brush piles, creek channels, rock piles, small changes in depth along a contour can be a money spot as well, etc, etc, etc. Look outside the box for your fishing spots. Its a lot more comfortable there.
  9. After a day fishing on Lake Michigan, a fisherman is walking from the pier carrying two brown trout in a bucket. He is approached by a Conservation Officer who asks him for his fishing license. The fisherman says to the warden, "I was not fishing and I did not catch these browns, they are my pets. Every day I come down to the water and dump these fish into the water and take them for a walk to the end of the pier and back. When I'm ready to go I whistle and they jump back into the bucket and we go home. The officer not believing him, reminds him that it is illegal to fish without a license. The fisherman turns to the warden and says, "If you don't believe me then watch," as he throws the trout back into the water. The warden says, "Now whistle to your fish and show me that they will jump out of the water and into the bucket." The fisherman turns to the officer and says, "What fish?"
  10. Remember those big spring sales at BPS and Cabelas are coming soon. Also its about time for all the winter fishing flea markets to start. Ours usually start in Febuary. I would look into a Extreme BPS rod during the sale. I think they are pretty nice for the money and when on sale they will be right around your price range. If you hit a spring sale check on a Team All Star spinning rod. I know you will be happy with this rod.
  11. Munkin, will you never learn? Ole Larry will show you how to interpret your depth finder. He is a Guru you know. www.cannondownriggers.com/site/html/htmlsite/topten.htm www.bassresource.com/fishing/fishfinders.html
  12. That is just plain incredible. What a blessing to be that talented. Heck, I cannot even write my own name on my checks so it is readable. Thanks for the links. I am simply amazed.
  13. I don't know if a eagle could carry off a bobcat but, I would like to see one carry off my ex girlfriend.
  14. All those years of giving antibiotics for the least little sniffle has caught up to our society. I can remember many years ago a doc and I had a conversation along those lines. He said that with all the antibiotics given for the least little thing would encourage viral strains to mutate. I guess he was not far off. Also, the world has gotten much smaller as in traveling between country's. Viruses have many more vectors to use to move around as well as mutate to adapt to the different environments they were previously accustomed to. You and I are talking influenza but what happens when other viruses find more and frequent vectors to travel with. Ebola, West Nile, etc. I did a research paper in college about the Ebola outbreaks in some of the providences in Africa. Scary stuff to say the least. Its not if it happens but, when. I know our country is not as prepared or, at least not as prepared as it should be. Sorry to ramble Muddy, but, we talk about this stuff all the time and the American people are blind to our preparedness in these types of situations. Terrorism has added another critical factor to this equation as well. I hope I did not light a fire with my answer back to you, I just thought you might find it interesting. Thanks for reading my ramble. Kudos for you working at a Job Corps Center www.bt.cdc.gov/ http://www.cdc.gov/flu/
  15. I would say that your rod choice would be perfect for Senko's. Add a Curado reel and #12 test for green bass and it will be state of the art. Good choice.
  16. I have broken ice at the ramp and broke of tail lights putting in over the years but, when it looks as iced up as that picture you displayed it does not look too safe. Is there any open water nearby? Are you using a gas motor? Remember your water intake. That is why when there is a lot of ice on the rivers here I stay away. We had the ice clog up the intake on my friends 200 Merc and it overheated. Also, I sucked up a bunch of frozen slush in my Jet Drive one winter and was at the mercy of the fast river without any power for awhile. I felt awfully stupid that day and felt blessed that I was not injured. I love to fish too and will fish in some pretty crappy situations but, there is a time to use your common sense. If you do decide to go out in that stuff,if you make that decision, make sure you give someone on land a time you are leaving and when you will return. Take along some extra float cushions with 25' of rope attached and a push pole. Also, some dry cloths and a cell phone in a waterproof holder that floats. Use your head. A bass isn't worth dying over. Keep your life jacket on all the time. Good luck. I hope you change your mind.
  17. Spinning---Shimano Stradic Casting #14-#20 test line---Abu Garcia C3 or C4 Casting #10-#12 test line---Abu Garcia 4600 or Shimano Curado 200
  18. The name alone scares me away from buying that rod.
  19. There are a lot of good lines out there that you can buy without all those outlandish hooks and claims to convince you into buying them. Save your money and buy yourself some good quality line in low-vis green. Only my opinion.
  20. I always felt that Culprit was one of the better worm companies out there. I bought a couple of packs of the " Blueberry" color Tassel-tails a few years ago and they worked well in clear water. I really have a lot of confidence in them.
  21. My best friend just got back from Vegas. He said they saw a ton of shows. He said the Blue Man Group Rockshow was fantastic. You know, those girls out in Vegas sound so nice and friendly. He brought me back some brosures that say things like---Hi, I am Jeannie and I will come up to your room for a visit or Hello, I am Candy, give me a call and I will be right up! What a bunch of friendly young ladies. Its hard to find nice friendly girls like that anymore. Be sure to use the Western Maryland country boy pickup line out there as well, " Ohhhhh-Weeeeee gal, you are prettier than a new set of snow tars!!! ;D
  22. At 50 and getting old and ugly the description of Hogzilla sounds like some of my most recent dates I have taken out.
  23. Without going into the politics of it, I feel that President Ford was just a likable human being. I also feel that he was a honest family man.
  24. Yea Muddy. This batch of crap going around has been a horror, especially for young children and the elderly in the nursing homes. All the ER's and Urgent Care facility's have been on RED ALERT around here. I have been so sick for over a week now that I can't see straight in addition to those 12-14 hour days. This latest strain just seems to hang on as well, sometimes for two or three weeks. Plenty of fluids, maybe some Zyrtec and rest is about all you can do. I hope your kids fair well.
  25. Avid, I believe you are right. But it sure sounds like fun!!!
