Casting or Spinning System For Dropshot
I have only been attempting the dropshot for a couple of years and although its not one of my favorite ways to fish, in gin clear water it works well. I have used both spinning and baitcasting set ups for the dropshot rig but, it seems, at least to me, that a spinning rod and dropshot go hand and hand. I have settled on a 7' med--- fast to extra fast rod and #6 or #8 test.

First Round of Poison Tails
You did a d**n good job on those jigs. I am sure you will have some good days on those jigs. I like to make my own also, and there is something to be said when you catch fish with lures you made yourself.

Lets meet at Cableas on MLK DAY
That would be awesome but, with the sinus infections, strep throats and just feeling crappy pandemic in this area I have a feeling that I will be in my scrubs for awhile. Is all this stuff going on in your areas as well?

New Abu Garcia Conolon rods
Kudos ReelMech. Yet another very educational post. You sure answered a lot of my questions with this one. This is a perfect example of what makes this site work so well. You would think that a guy like me whom has all these years on the water would not be so ignorant concerning modulus ratings but, after reading ReelMechs post I have had a lot of my unanswered questions covered and more. Thanks again.

ebay
I have bought tons of stuff on eBay. I like antiques and have purchased some nice stuff for a lot less than I would have at other auctions. I have only had one problem ever with a sellers item and she handled the problem for me. I only deal with a seller if they are 98% and above in their rating and still look at some of their feedbacks to see how they handled specific problems. I have 5 or 6 fishing equipment sellers saved on my favorites. I will not buy a rod unless I have had my hands on it but, for reels as well as other stuff it is a great place to get some deals. Always remember to include the shipping price in your figured bid. Some of the SH can make a seemingly good deal for an item not worth it. Also, sign up for Paypal and be sure to not open any mail sent to your personal mailbox as they have been having problems with phishing emails.

Advancements in tech for fishing reels?
I was just curious. We have bait casting reels, spinning reels and spin cast reels. Do you think that with all the other advancements in technology concerning our fishing world there could ever be a new type of delivery for our line? Maybe some hybrid reel or something along those lines?

colored line
Personally I use all low vis green or dark green no matter what kind of water I am fishing. I do not use braid or fluorocarbon as I have tried both and just did not like either, especially on spinning gear but, its all in what you like. I am going to try some #6 Yozuri Soft this spring. Nothing wrong with experimenting.

Line?
RW's answer was the best and about sums it up. All of us do not agree on line. Experience will tell you over the years what works for you.

Whats up with these handle grips?
I like a Tennessee handle but, I know a lot of guys that do not. If you know someone who has one try it. They allow you to position your reel at the optimum place for your style.

New to bass boat need help w/trailer4 Bass
You should have a Vin number plate on that trailer. Contact your local DMV to see what you can do if it does not. Here in Maryland the trailer has to be licensed through the DMV. If you buy a boat and trailer here the trailer has to be inspected by a licensed inspection station and you have to take this inspection to the DMV in order to get your permanent tags.

outdoor outboard storage
Run fuel conditioner through your motor before storing it and then unplug your fuel line. You should fog the cylinders if it is going to sit for 3 or 4 months. My boat does not sit that long if the water does not have ice on it I fish. Also, if you do not have a on board charger make sure you charge your batteries at least once a month. I leave my batteries in the boat and have never had a problem but, mine stays on the on board all the time. I still take a look at them once a month. I have four batteries in my boat, starting, and three for the trolling motor as mine is a 36v system. I also keep my cables greased all the time. Mine has fittings. In the spring I clean and repack my trailer bearings as well. I have bearing buddies but, I still do this every spring. I run a Jet Prop so I usually put a new water pump in once a year as I suck up a lot of crap in the low water I run. Forty seven bucks is cheaper than a new power head. Maintain your equipment and it will not let you down.

Is it real?
Years ago on a farm I hunted rabbits, ringnecks and quail and a young boy we were teaching hunting dog handling shot a small young red fox. We heard him shoot and he was on the other side of a knoll. He ran over to tell us he had shot a fox and when we went over to look at it a Red-Tailed hawk had carried it up to a tree limb about 15' high. I was amazed that he got it up there. It was one of those things you always remember. By the way, that picture is awesome. It will make a nice wallpaper, thanks.

Baitcast vs. Spinning Reels
I would rather use a baitcaster anytime and I do for smallmouth in the rivers in the slow water or deep water fishing. My personal rule of thumb is if I need quick line pickup or am in fast water I chose a spinning rod. For me, so I do not make anyone mad, a baitcaster is much easier and much more accurate. Spinning---#6-#8 test---anything above that like #10 and above it is a baitcaster.

winter lures
Silver Buddies and Cicadas are awesome baits here in Maryland in the winter ( 38-42 ) as well as early pre-spawn when they are first moving up the deep creek channels and are at the end of the deeper points or when they are suspending along those steep 45 degree bluffs. I have yo-yoed them, as well as, just let them hit bottom on a vertical fall and snapped my rod in a spoon jigging fashion. I have had good days on both brown and green bass with these baits.

Is there a doctor in the house?
Never use an ice pack longer than 20 minutes. Alternate between hot and cold for this length of time. If it is muscle pain ask your physician about Skelaxin or Flexiril. If it is joint pain and you are seeing a Orthopedic Surgeon ask him or her about Ultracet for the pain. If this is going to be a long term joint injury inquire about Supartz Injections. Line?
#8 BPS Excel in low vis green for the rod and reel you had mentioned. I use this on my customers rods for brown bass in a rocky river and the abrasion resistance is great. This line has a high break strength for #8 in which is more like 11 or so pound breaking strength.
