  1. Unnnhhh hhuuummmphh, I still have not seen or heard of a Albino Largemouth or Smallmouth Bass. And by the way, did you say " orange bass "? I cannot find a Albino bass and you found a ORANGE BASS? , LOL. Oh, you are good. Just pulling your chain a little, lol.
  2. That picture you have of the Greenbrier River reminds me of some of the spots on the Upper Potomac in MD. I live a stones throw from it. What size are the typical smallie on this river? Is the river healthy? It sure looks like a little chunk of smallie heaven.
  3. The_Bass_Whisperer, There is no such thing as a stupid question. You won't know if you don't ask. I do not think anyone in here will mind answering any of your questions. CRAW had some interesting info in his post. There is a lot of info on this site on jigs and anything else you can imagine. If you can't find an answer here I am sure everyone will do their best to find one somewhere. Everyone had to start somewhere and even a old dog like me who has been fishing for such a long time has questions and still learns. Fishing is a continued learning process with all of the advancements in technology. Good luck fishing.
  4. I guess you are the Felix Unger of fishing and I am the Oscar. I hang my head in shame. I am organized but, I don't have labels man.
  5. I saw Frampton when I was younger. I love the seventies and eighties music. All in all I guess I am a Southern Rock and Blues kind of guy but, I like all kinds of music, as long as there is talent behind the instruments. Hard to find in this day and age. Lynyrd Skynrd, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, Joe Walsh,Eagles,Roy Buchanan,Stevie Ray Vaughn,Jimi Hendrix,Rush, old Elton John,Aerosmith,Ted Nugent,Van Halen, not Van Haggar, Muddy Waters, Budgie, Angel,Fleetwood Mac, Babe Ruth, Bowie,Heart,Pure Prairie League,Steely Dan,Joe Bonamasa, Captain Beyond, Janes Addiction, its all good, etc, etc, etc.
  6. Why would you want to ruin a perfectly good reel with braid? I am sorry, that just wasn't right, and bless all those Pigmys down thar in New Guinea.
  7. Like phisher, I like to use them on a football jig.
  8. I have never used a Senko for trout but, a few years ago in the early spring I was fishing a creek mouth that emptys into the Potomac River and caught a 22" rainbow on a 5" Senko. I guess you could try them. Mayabe try to use a 3" one. I have also caught Walleye in the Upper Potomac on Senkos. I hate to say it but they darn near catch about anything. I hate to use them but, if it works, it works. Good luck.

  10. I use something up here I call the double whammy, lol. I am sure you all have used it as well but, maybe some have not. I do not like to dropshot but, some of our lakes in Western Maryland are gin clear and call for this technique at times. Instead of using just a weight I put on a gitzit on the sinker end, usually a leadhead or if it is grassy I will T-rig it. This has worked well for me especially for clear water lake smallies. Ever tried it?
  11. What part of the prespawn Boondocks. The 48-58 degree range ( early ) or the 58-65 range? If you are talking early for largemouth fish the main lake points and drop offs with a jig, 4" ringworm or a Zoom trickworm in between 10 and 30 feet of water. Sharp drops work best. Don't be in a hurry, fish slow. If you are talking later on in the later temps I gave, fish mid to upper lake in the creek channels and their drop offs and at the mouth of the coves and anywhere you see a gravel or sandy flat with emergent grass or grass patches. with deep water beside it. Fish in 2'-15' of water. Senkos, jigs, Zoom Trick Worms, Zoom Centipedes, Sweet Beavers,Super Flukes are a good start. I start speeding things up during this time and tend to start using a search bait as well like a spinnerbait or Husky Jerk or maybe a Roque. Goodness knows this is not gospel, just a reference point.
  12. Baitcaster--- Big Game Spinning---Super Silver Thread Good all around line for both that is cheap to buy for the amount and I still put on my client rods ( spinning #8) BPS Excel in low vis green.
  13. Abu Garcia 4600 C4 6.3:1 Line cap 10/170 Line recovery 30" BPS 74.95 Great reel, you will be pleased. Also, if you are not too worried about gear ratio and want an all around reel check out the 4600 in the C3, Line recovery is 25"
  14. What Alpster said !!!!, Too funny, I swallowed my Skoal.
  15. I heard the FBI and DEA are watching you. They have pictures of you unloading 2 kilos of gitzits from your car and taking them into your apartment.
  16. Hello ReelMech, I recently spoke to you of the possibility of increasing the line pickup on a couple of my C3 5500 AG's. You asked for a run date on the reel foot and the number stamped is 010505. I just gave you one as I guess we will have to see if the gears and pinion are even availible for these reels. Thanks for your time. Jim
  17. Two good points Supermat, lol. I would not recommend them for brown bass either. Two guys throwing chatterbaits and a lousy 119 smallies, why waste your time ?
  18. Same to ya!!! It will always be " Merry Christmas " in my family.
  19. RW is right, we, or I, drifted off the subject. Suffice to say I am a Catholic. Also, you made me think a little more about what I was saying Keithscatch. I see what you are saying in that it is not the same. I have to reflect on that some more as I think you are right. Anyhow, back to the topic. I stand by our government 110%. I never meant to sound like a administration basher. I just think that our president and his staff should step back and regroup on what we are doing in Iraq and look at other potential avenues, that is all. I think they are in this process now. As far as the media. Well, we do not need to attempt to make them look like a bunch of clowns, they reinforce that everyday in how they handle their reporting. Not everyone in the media but, a large number. There is some excellent reporting going on out there as well. I really like the BBC. So thanks for the stimulation, it was fun everyone. Back to that money pit we call fishing, lol. Have a good evening everyone. RW, you sure are a good ref. Thanks.
  20. I know I should not go into this subject any further but, Catt. I felt the same way as you. I had no idea what Islam was. Heck I am just a hospital employee in a local ER, 50 years old and paying on a student loan, single and attempting to keep the mortgage paid, ya know? I am friends with a lot of physicians in the area and some of them are of middle eastern decent. I was lucky to be invited to a grand opening to a Mosque. You know, a PR thing. I am a Catholic. I did go just to talk and to enjoy some different culture and food. I was surprised to say the least. I really enjoyed myself. I will make this short, sweet and to the point in order to give you a reference point on Islam. When they reference Allah it is the same God as we know God, it is their name for God. They follow the old testament. Jesus was sent by God as a prophet. They actually pray to Jesus. They pray to the Virgin Mary and believe that Jesus was born of a Virgin birth. I as a Christian believe that Jesus is the son of God and the Messiah. They believe he was just a prophet along with Muhammad in a long list of, Noah,Abraham,Ishmael,Isaac, Jacob, Joseph,David, Moses, and Jesus. We as Christians follow the new testament as Islam follows more of the old testament, to a point. " Them and us " are more similar than you would think. It is the radicals and extremist that seperate us. I have friends that are Muslim and I can respect that, I am a Christian and they respect my beliefs. We agree to disagree. I am not going to change their beliefs and they sure will not change mine but we do have some very similar beliefs and that is what shocked me. I allowed my ignorance in the subject and the media form a opinion for me.
  21. I agree with fishbear and roadwarrior on the season dates. They are the same in Maryland. For me only, I have a harder time catching largemouth bass in the winter. The smallies are just too mean to ever give up !!! They do no care if the water is 78 or 38 degrees. This is big smallie time my friend. Good luck.
  22. I agree RW. They could adapt as Japan did. I am just not forseeing it. Hell, McArthur was practicaly a king for awhile in Japan until our president fired him. I just feel that we are expecting too much from a culture as diverse as they have. There are three main factions we are dealing with in Iraq, not counting the outside insurgents . Its a little different in this situation. It is unique in you are attempting to resolve issues for all the different factions that have been rooted in Iraq for thousand of years. They have never resolved their issues in thousands of years so what makes anyone think that we are going to go in and implement our style democracy. I just do not think that this is a quick fix situation. I think we made a grave mistake, not in going into Iraq ( with our agenda, oil, bottom line ) but, in the way we have handled it since. Why do you think Colin Powell and SwartzKoff bailed? They knew it was a situation presented to everyday americans as "we are going in and make it all better" and then come home task. They also knew that it simply was not possible as it was presented. My opinion. Good fishing, and you never did present your case for G. Loomis to me, LOL. Have a good one.
  23. Redlinerobert, My friend whom works for the FLW is in N. Carolina fishing now but, he called me this morning to give a update and I explained to him your plight with All Star. He is going to call the regional rep. ( we live in Maryland ) and give him a run down. I have a feeling that your issue will be resolved. Not because of me stirring up a rep. but, because I don't think they will want this type of PR on the net. Good luck.
  24. No, that is not what my point was at all. I agree that Saddam needed to be removed. Anyway, my point is that I do not feel that you are going to stabilize the region by attempting to put a democracy in place that does not fit their culture and values. Giving them the tools to create the government they want to live under is one thing but, the US has too much of a personal agenda to be involved in setting up a democracy created in our image. I would like to see the new Iraq take more of a lead in establishing a new system. They just, are not doing that. We need to give them the tools to work with and let them take it from there. We have cleared the path and gave them the opportunity but, that should be the extent.
