  1. Don't you want people to like you? If so, just stop! You're killing me! ;D ;D ;D
  2. I was fishing from shore yesterday with a Zell Pop and as I was chugging it, I saw a huge wake approaching. It was probably 12-16 wide and 2-3 inches high, not the standard v-wake at all. I was about to pee my pants! I stopped the popper and the wake approached it and with the tiniest slurp, took it under. As I reeled it in, it felt really heavy, but didn't fight much. When I landed it, it was a huge turtle. It was probably 12-14 inches in diamter. DANG! Oh well, maybe next time.
  3. You obviously haven't spent time around the same muskie fisherman I have. They make the vitriole expressed here about bass look like child's play.

Sorry to hear about that, BW. I drove by the accident scene shortly after it occurred. I didn't know the deceased personally (although I know much of his family).
  5. It will definitely get worse. God is out of the schools. Mothers are out of the home. Zero tolerance policies don't allow kids to vent there frustrations in less harmful ways. Guns are outlawed in school zones to everyone who obeys the law. I'm sure there are more reasons. These just came to mind.
  6. I can't believe this discussion has gone on this long. What this guy is doing has nothing to do with selective harvest. That is a straw man argument. Selective harvest is removing smaller fish to allow the large fish to get bigger. Killing these hogs to allow other fish the chance to grow large - that is ridiculous. What he is doing may be legal, but it is certainly unethical. Condoning his behavior by saying it is legal will not work. I can think of countless examples of legal behavior that I condemn and I'm sure most of you can as well. I think the emotional responses have clouded the issue here. I know I am certainly tempted to pounce on this lowlife chastise this individual myself, but if we all stop attacking and defending this man maybe we can reach a consensus. Can we at least agree that what this person is doing is harmful to the fisheries he frequents in however small a way? Can we agree that he and others who enjoy catching these large bass would be better off if he changes his ways?
  7. I would fish a large jig with rattles and a bulky trailer. This should be a productive bait and it has the added advantage of allowing you to assess the features of the bottom.
  8. I thought 8" bass weren't sexually mature. Maybe they were just a couple of crazy kids playing doctor ;D Seriously, though, are 8" bass capable of reproduction?
  9. That was exactly my take on it. You feel bad about involving your son. Good for you! Too bad you don't feel bad enough about to to prevent you from going right back there and doing it again I try to refrain from argumentum ad hominem in general and especially on this board, but you, sir, are clueless.
  10. I do not trust them. I do not like them. I will NEVER be subjected to one regarding a criminal proceeding without a court order and then I will do my best to distort the results (i.e. moving around, flexing muscles, irregular breathing, etc.). I might be persuaded to take one for a job interview or in the case of a contest such as a bass tourney, but I would do so reluctantly and make my feelings known. Also, I would again try to distort the results if I could do so without being caught. Did I mention I don't trust them?
  11. Most consider Loomis the standard for other to compare to. I'm pretty sure that was a rhetorical question, hence the
  12. the reason i asked for advice is because on the BPS site, it says you can get a Revo-S for $99. when i get to bass pro shop, they are asking $130, and that is too much for me. yes my reel might be $80 and my rod is 20, but it does the same thing a lot more expensive reel/rod combo does, and it helps me catch fish. why are you discriminating against me for buying an $80 reel and a $20 rod? i don't need that comment. The reason RW said this is that most of us here will agree that given the choice, the rod is the more important of the two. The Ugly Stick will last you forever, but 'm not sure that is a good thing In my experience, a good hookset is difficult and that's only a concern if you feel the bite, which isn't likely because of their almost total lack of sensitivity. We are not trying to offend, only educate. Welcome to the board.
  13. If I am ever given the choice of how I want to die, I will choose to be killed by a well-placed bullet as opposed to having my head twisted around while someone saws into my neck with a dull instrument. What was that guy using, a butter knife?

    You're bad. ;D
  15. See, I knew if I didn't respond to your first post you couldn't resist contributing
  16. Dangit! There's another soft bait I don't need but will probably buy now. Thanks a lot.
  17. I flip spinning reels by hand, but that is a bit harsh, don't you think? The reel is designed to flip the bail automatically, so to say that the user caused it's failure by using that feature is misleading IMO.
  18. What's your phone number? I need you to discuss this philosophy with my wife ;D
  19. I use a double uni. I have heard on here that a nail knot is good for this, but I have used the nail knot to tie on fly leaders and it seems really difficult to me. It might just be me, though.
  20. Is the first one minnow shaped or does it have a skinny tail section by chance? Sometimes the ballast weight can get stuck in the tail section and cause the malfunction you describe. Try tapping the nose on a hard surface to dislodge it.
  21. Come on! Make a commitment. Next thing you know you'll be lying to the ones left behind. No, no Shimano, Honey, I'm not going fishing. I'm taking the boat to the shop. Yeah, that's it.
  22. Rod tip up=chug, chug Rod tip down=walk, walk
  23. Someone needs to make a bass boat with wings. it would make the landing much more pleasant ;D
