i'm going to give flourocarbon another shot
I tried Vanish a few years ago and the backlashes made me swear off fluoro for what I thought was forever. I tried Cabela's this year and it handles almost as well as mono. I also landed a 26-28" tiger muskie on a spinnerbait recently while using it (15 lb test). Although it was nicked and I had to retie, it held. Other brands might be better, but I wouldn't know.

Another News Story from today
Muddy, you always know what to say. With all the drama I've fomented today a good laugh really hit the spot.

I need your help! Looking for a lure.
My confusion and your mistake lie in the fact that XCalibur does have a Rayburn Red. So You will not find any other lure color Rayburn Red because it is an exclusive color of Cotton Cordell's Hot Spot. is incorrect. I didn't notice LBH's Lewis reference so I see where you are coming from.

Spinning blank for Casting Rod?
I've detected a slight tendency toward jerkiness in my recent posting history. Sorry if I offended.

Radio Hosts Are Not Politicians
I am impressed that this post was restored. Everyone gets to see me in all my up on the soapbox ranting glory and I received a dignified response. I'd say my desire to remain an active member here and still maintain my dignity was fulfilled. Your intention to keep the wraps on things is unchanged. You allowed me to express my opinion without changing your position at all. Under the circumstances, I'd say this is as close to a win/win as we are going to get. Thank you. Perhaps I'd just better try to stay out of the Everything Else section from now on. I'll try. I promise

Radio Hosts Are Not Politicians
Thanks for bringing this up, PB. I forgot to add that the reason I want to talk about some of these things here is because it is interesting to me to get the bass fisherman's perspective on them. I do discuss things elsewhere, but I care about and respect many of you on this board and I want your perspective. It's like talking to my friends in real life while we are fishing together. It's much more fun than talking to strangers.

Radio Hosts Are Not Politicians
I recently had a thread deleted because of the new "no politics/no religion" rule here at BassResource.com. The subject I was discussing had nothing more to do with either topic than numerous other topics we discuss here and elsewhere and I like to refer to as "life." I simply pointed out what I thought was a piece of ironic humor contained in a current popular news story. I referenced no political party or figure and no religion or deity in the post. I was aware that the previous thread had been locked and took special care to avoid the same pitfalls as well as warning anyone else posting to my thread to do the same. I realize that the topic can lead to discussions of race relations which could be construed to be politics by someone who is interpreting the definition liberally. That is why I objected to the rule in the first place (see sticky above). Politics is present everywhere in life. Everything we do is affected by laws and lawmakers. Every decision we make in life is guided in some way by Earthly laws or some sense of personal morality or religion. Perhaps the rule was intended to prevent controversy or hard feelings, but it is a slippery slope and with my thread deletion today I think the rate of downward acceleration has just escalated severely. I also realize that this thread will likely be deleted and perhaps I'll be warned or even banned because of it. I have seen countless examples that any disagreement with the rules on this board is verboten. Any criticism is quickly crushed. I no longer care. If none of you are prepared to duel with me in the arena of ideas, I will not respond anyway. Personal attacks and reactionary protectionism are not ideas by the way. What RW did to me today is exactly the same to me as if I were speaking to my best friend and he told me to shut up and only discuss what he wanted to talk about from now on. However, if you care to know, Kent, I am not blaming you, but only the misguided rule I tried to soften in the first place. No personal hard feelings exist on my part toward anyone. I simply want a lively discussion on this topic and although I am passionate about this debate, I am not angry, only resigned to my inevitable fate. It's a shame that it had to come to this. I spend a lot of time here. I have learned a lot and I hope that I have contributed much as well. A substantial part of my love for BassResource.com has died today. Here I am. Let the pile on begin!!!!!

Spinning blank for Casting Rod?
I am not insulting anyone here, but I have observed that when people ask for advice (especially those doing so on an internet forum), they are most often actually looking for validation of their preconceived ideas. I am certainly not exempt from this criticism. There is a reason that the phrase "He needs to find out the hard way" has become a clich é. On the other hand, many successful innovators have been told by "those in the know" that their ideas are crazy, so one never knows. In any case, good luck in your rod building adventures and let us know how it turns out.

This sounds snarky, but I intend it only as a genuine question in the nicest way; Who said it was a Trap color?

What if he's only saying this because he doesn't want the secret to get out? RW has found the magic lure and he doesn't want to share. RW, how could you? I bet he doesn't even use Shimano! He's probably a Pflueger guy and just says all that pro-Shimano stuff to throw us all off! I even heard he is a tournament angler Uhhhh........NOT

Should Imus have been fired from MSNBC ?
1. Imus is an idiot and has shown himself to be so for quite some time. His latest snafu is no surprise. 2. Imus has the right to be an idiot and express his idiocy in any way he chooses. 3. Imus' employer has the right to disagree with Imus and censor him in any manner they see fit. 4. The offended parties (including black leaders) have a right to voice their disdain. 5. The first amendment applies only when governmental entities are attempting to censor expression. Try Googling number 5 or below is a really good explanation, if you are interested. http://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/index.php/First_amendment

I need your help! Looking for a lure.
Many of the custom lure makers you can find online will custom paint any bait you send them. You might try that option.

FINALLY I GOT MY DREAM REEL
I bet if you had played your cards right and kept posting about how you were sure the Pflueger was superior to Shimano and Daiwa, someone would have sent you a free one just to prove you wrong ;D

Ratt -L- trap paint
- Ask Stupid Question in " Wal - Mart" Never
As you can tell from my avatar, I need to lose several pounds. What variety of Purina do you recommend?- broken jerk bait
I have used jerkbaits with broken lips as a surface, slightly subsurface bait. They will usually walk the dog even without the lip.- favorite jig/trailer combo
I like a Stanley and a Netbait Paca Chunk or Paca Craw.- which combo???
The Spirex/Bionic blade is on sale at BPS for under $90. If you must stay under $100, this should be a good combo for you.- Ugly Stick- I just don't get it.
I used an Ugly Stick as a cranking rod for a couple years until I could upgrade and it worked fine if you could get past the fatigue caused by the 2 lb weight. I have handled the Ugly Stick Lite at the store and they seem like a good rod for the money, but they are obviously not the same indestructible rod as the original. They are more reminiscent of a Lightning Rod or similar inexpensive rods. - Ask Stupid Question in " Wal - Mart" Never
