Gas Prices! Guess I cant get mad at the wife for those new shoes...
Being that most of the lakes I fish are private and relatively small, I dont use the big motor much. But I do have to tow the boat there....Both of my favorite lakes are about 2 hours away, and towing a 22 ft boat usually costs me a tank and a half of gas going both directions. Sucks, now you really gotta pay to play.

Shimano fans, check this out.

Ebay has some gems sometimes. Retailers will usually not discount that reel.

Iaconelli is coming out with his own rods - made by Daiwa.
They include a 7'2" "pitch and skip trigger" rod, an 8' flippin rod, and a MH 7'6" spinning rod rated at 3/8-1 oz lure weight. The rods are nicely finished, combination cork and foam grips, red accents, split grips, and HVF graphite blanks. There are 6 rods total being initially offered...

curious question about high priced reels
Exactly, but when a 16 y/o brags on his new(used) Ford, would you tell him its no good and he should go buy a lamborghini? Thats my only point. Lets not pretend this equipment is necessary to be a great fisherman. Once again, there are folks that don't even have boats that are sporting equipment that cost more than the pros. Good post. I fish with friends that have the $50 rods and reels, and let me tell you, they kick my butt often out on the water. As I posted earlier, doesnt matter what you spend, do so within your means and have fun.

curious question about high priced reels
It's like driving a Lamborghini or Ferrari. You do so because you can. Not necesarily that it makes the drive better. It usually does make the drive better though....

New Reel: Tam Daiwa Pluton
No pics though. :-X Specs: hispeed and low speed versions, (6.2:1) and (5.1:1). 8 CRBB's plus roller bearing, swept handles like a Zillion, 12.5 oz and 12.7 oz, reels are made for braid. 14 lb test/155 yards, equals 30lb braid at ~300 yards. Could be a nice swimbait reel. Fully machined, round profile. No idea on price.....

Dangit...now I have to buy the new red Zillion
They will have a Zillion rod like that. TDZL631MFB Medium power Fast taper 6'3" 8-17 lb test and 1/8-5/8 oz lure weight. That's the best news I have heard all day. Looks like you just spent my money Robert. ;D It's a good thing the Calcutta DC doesn't come in a 101, or the pics you posted would have spent A LOT more of my dough. Always happy to help
