This setup will get plenty of scratches and nicks. That's not a problem.

Been busy with work so I've not been able to post any pictures of the upgraded JDM Daiwa BBS. Needless to say I am very pleased with the results. Here is how the reel started out life. Nice, but pretty basic. And this is what it looks like now. Anodized the tension knob, Steez drag star and crank collar, replaced the crank with a JDM Steez carbon 90mm arm, replaced the black grips with clear coated cork, added 4 bearings in the grips, replaced all the bearings with upgraded units, and put it on my new Megabass White Python.

An exotic reel like that requires an equally exotic rod. If you are up to the challenge, I would suggest this rod from Evergreen. If you have an 844C try something different. The best Senko rod on the market in my opinion is the GLoomis BCR 893 GLX. I have this rod rigged with a Daiwa Steez 103H modded with a 90mm carbon crank and cork grips supported with 4 handle bearings. So I went fishing to "Lake X" with my buddy Cal from Tackle Tour. He happened to have his camera out while this unfolded. Bass approach. The wake coming from the left is actually the bass coming after my lure. The rise. The fall. The ownage. ;D The victory.
