  1. A. for Elaztech stuffs and others if I need to. I use Roboworm Rebarb hook for this not flipping hook. B. For other plastics
  2. I had order some jigs and blade jig from him, have not tried any of the jigs yet but Fogy blade jig just plain catch fish. It is a tad heavier than Zman chatterbait original but hardware is way better and color is phenomenal.
  3. Do you plan to stand and fish? If yes the pescador pro 100 is not for you. Pescador Pro 100 for me is perfect size not too heavy and stable enough. I'm 5'8 150 lbs. just like you I bought it becuz of storage and transport where I can just lift and walk without dragging the thing. The seat is good and comfortable enough for me to stay on 4-5 hours. Storage area is not as good as other but if you plan small you should be fine. The rod holder is useless, it is too big and too shallow, you might have to do some mod or install a new rod holder. Let me know if you have any question, I don't know where you live, if you are in SoCal or wanna make a trip here, I would let you have some seat time with it.
  4. I'm trying not to loose any lure or plastic, every time I lost one or two, I end up bought 10 or more. Talking about cheap hobby, huh.
  5. And the weather call for heatwave coming again next week, close to triple degit in my area ?.
  6. He is a handsome young man and with that hawg and that smikr he is even more handsome. Congrat man
  7. Cool and congrats.
  8. A diamond ring and a nice set of rod and reel.?
  9. Oh well it had been 90 degree during the day here in SoCal for the past week and will continue this week. The water temp still 70 fish scatter around the big one has not move back into the creek yet.
  10. Also my condolences to his family.
  11. This ^^^^^ Make sure you screw paw cap tight, loose paw will not catch into worm gear right. This is another part that most DIYers forget about it. You should lube worm gear every now and then. Some use heavy grade lube but I use grease.
  12. Or you could use this.
  13. Maybe your thumb is accidentally press on thumb bar while setting hook.
  14. There might be something wrong with you reel. What kind of reel is this? How much line do you have left on spool when you set the hook? Is this new, use? Try to jerk your line with you hand and see if spool still let the line out? I suspect some thing wrong with your anti reverse bearing.
  15. Elaztech stuff is very good for open hook style rig but not so much weedless. You cannot easily skin hook like other plastic and if you bury the hook Point too deep you might have a problem setting hook on fish. I find a hook that work well with Elaztech stuff and also to make it a little more weedless is flipping hook.
  16. If you are serious to come, I will welcome you, but no you cannot stay at my house lol. with all seriousness, I can book for you a lot for camping or RV/Trailer parking with full hook up at lake front campground for only 40 bucks a night, and no you cannot launch the boat there but kayak/tube should be no problem.
  17. Just like @Bluebasser86 for those type of lure (swim in straight line) I just tie my reg trilene knot. I only use loop knot for walking lure type. I don't remember when the last time I tie loop knot. just like others I use snap/clip for all my hard lure for the sake of my laziness. I use P-line duo snap since I can get it at my local store, but my next purchase gonna be tactical power clip, it is small and look exactly like paper clip.
  18. Just as everyone said, the wider the bottoms, the better and jon boat not very good with wake, wave and wind. I got a 14' 32" width on bottom not very stable. It is okay for myself and my fishing buddy since we learn how to balance each other but we also have too many close call. Standing on a Jon boat with a lot of wake created by other speed boat nearby is waiting for disasters to happen.
  19. Did you add any lube/grease to AR bearing recently? AR bearing don't get along with grease,m. Otherwise you would need to replace that. On some of shimano's AR bearing, I found it pain in the rear end to remove. I would op to send to DVL if you don't know what you are doing.
  20. Hey how about SoCal? I'll take you for a joy ride lol. Have fun over there and catch some of those giant bass.
  21. Don't try it, trust me. Last time I try Yamamoto D-Shad I end up bought 5 more bags. back to topic, I don't fish shaky head very often lately, but when I do I use anything that float, mostly Zman plastic, Zinkerz, Big TRD, Finesse worm and 4" Paddlerz.
  22. I was plan to take the boat out to check the shallow creek to see if any big bass hide in there, but my wife got a honey-do-list for me. Chang of plan and I didn't have a lot of time, instead just went to the spot I caught those 5 bass a few days ago. Since I lost my black-blue, I tied Seibert Fogy chatterbait in green pumpkin with Zman diezel trailer. Caught total of 3 with the biggest around 4.5lbs. Video
  23. Thanks everyone, but more comment is still welcome. i think I'm gonna try the point first since that easy to find than said structure on bottom where I'm not really good at yet. As of now, water temp still around 70 and I seem not able to find active bass. The small lake I can catch dinks all days but don't know where the big one at. The main lake where I success the most (today caught another 4.5 lb) but mostly bank fishing, since taking my small Jon boat out it is a challenge by itself.
  24. What is you guys approach or position your boat? I have read some info on Tactical bassing and also from huddletons website but not many talking about this topic. I lately position boat close to shore/ledges and cast parallel or out in open water to search for fish.
  25. I use braid and copolymer/hybrid line. I change when my line get too low or when bomb cast and the spool get down to my braid backing. If I feel a lot of kink, I will refresh the line by move the end to the top and spray with some KVD line conditioner.
