Worm Drive Grease
So if reel get regular maintenance, clean and re grease . All the accumulated debris shouldn’t damage the gear. I wouldn’t say grease is the best, nor oil is better. Oil on the other hand trend to dry down after a few months.

Worm Drive Grease
All my new shimano reel come with grease on worm gear. I’m not sure if it is in fact drag grease (it is lighter in color and super sticky). If oil is better why shimano use grease in their reel? I’m not expert nor engineer just wonder if it really matter. To me worm gear on baitcaster is not precision mash gear like main gear. Just a track gear with ~1mm gap for worm dive to run along.

Small-size baitcaster for 1/16 oz lures
And sorry I’m such a noob I cannot do this with spinning gear. https://www.amazon.com/photos/shared/-_12Myl5RGqBm019i0OCUA.7w7UiYvCNbl_9JpXUhVUDn

Small-size baitcaster for 1/16 oz lures
Same thing some ppl prefer live bait, earthworm, but some only artificially lure. Why? There are advantages and disadvantages of each but I guess you won’t know since you never tried. Only catching fish is no longer my goal objectives, but catching fish with things I choose, lures, gears and technique is much more fun. I don’t fish same lure that guaranteed to catch fish but change each time, try new thing or new color. Today 1/16oz CB crappie slider jig head with smallest body worm I can find, tomorrow I don’t know yet lol.

When to hookset
To me with senko, if the line move I set hook, it I feel the tab set hook. Large mouth bass doesn’t nibble on prey, instead inhale the whole but will spit out as fast as you can imagine. Sometime you might get smaller bass, panfish or beded bass that not capable of 4” senko.

Anyone ever put a caliper your hooks?
Most of small O-Ring (bait keeper) size 1 will fit regular 1/0-4/0 Gamakatsu EWG hook. I’ve never tried with super line but, I doubt it would. Here what I got. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B078PK818Q/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Bait Caster beginner
Which baitcaster did you get? 1/8 Beetle spin plus plastic should weight more than 1/4oz. If small pond and only 1-2lb bass, M or ML (1/8-3/8oz)with Fast action rod would give you a lot more fun and capable of variety of light lure or Finesse stuff. 1/8 underspin Weigh less 4” senko, menace grub, pit boss. 1/16-1/8oz Neko rig 1/4 poppers or 1/4oz jerkbait

Stretching mono to reduce memory
I don’t stretch line myself, I let the bass do it. Just spray with line conditioner overnight and go get some fish on the line. I don’t just spray on top, I pull out line about 20-30 yds and spray, then spray again at full spool.

Curado question
Direct compare to Curado DC would be Curado K. They are about the same dimension. If curado dc is not too big or too small then you should feel the same with the K. Another good cheap alternative to CURADO DC is shimano SLX DC.

Small-size baitcaster for 1/16 oz lures
No this is not pixy it is Alphas Sv which is about the same size as pixy. And no ALX is the same frame as MGxtreme, MGX2 other Revos are a little bit bigger. Again you already have pixy, buying just pixy spool is a lot cheaper.

Small-size baitcaster for 1/16 oz lures
Your already own pixy with BFS spool which is capable of 1/16oz lure. I don’t think you would find anything comparable is your price range. But for the heck of it. Abu Revo ALX with AMO spool, comparable in size and below 6oz weight. A lot of those bfs guys do not recommend using mono with BFS spool, but I’ve read a lot of ppl using it. I used 4lb izorline on both Pixy and curado 70 with shallow spool for awhile and don’t have any problem (never caught anything bigger than 2lb on that line)

I’m gonna call myself Catfish_fishing_Socal. Yesterday while trying new to me Crappie rod (thanks Scott for this wonderful Shimano Crucial ML 1/16-1/4oz), I caught another catfish on crappie tube. This is the fourth catfish in a month I caught while crappie fishing. It was fun but my Sahara 750 got beat up pretty bad (2 of them pushing 7lb). This morning again while Nedrig for some bass with trimmed Roboworm Nedworm, catfish decided to have fun with my ultra finesse setup. It Is fun but enough is enough, I hate touching catfish slime.

Is my new line twisted, have bad memory, or bad?
Thank you, I’m gotta try your method off the bottom. I did it with off the top and not very happy with it.

Simple backing question
Main reason of ppl who use backing is to save money for expensive mainline either braid or FC. Saving money meaning use whatever already available. If I don’t have available, I would go for the next option which is buy a line Brand and pound test that I can use as main line later like Hybrid, Izorline or big game. There is no reason to buy new line just for backing, I don’t think you need 1000yds of backing in one or two lifetime.

Stock up for my quarantine day, lol. I think I’m getting bad, enjoy catching and filleting crappie lol. Caught about 25 last night a bunch of 10” biggest went 14” (released). I decided to keep some 11-12” for my wife.

High Vis braid for jigs?
That is Light rod. My favorite for ultra finesse fishing.

Line choices for Daiwa Alphas Air Stream Custom
Tom, because a lot of your mention, I got both 4lb for spinning and 6lb for my baitcaster. I haven’t spool up with the 6lb yet and sold Legalis 1000 with 4lb after using it only a few outings. I cannot give a true opinion yet. If I remembered correctly, windtamer #4 is pretty soft, quiet and smooth (2nd to Gliss as long as braid concern).

Small Baitcasters
@Bass Junkiethank you that is a pretty good BFS 101 for all the beginners. Too bad, I can’t like you twice lol.

High Vis braid for jigs?
Hey anything that help why not. I use all kind of color, chartreuse, yellow, red, blue and white.

Line choices for Daiwa Alphas Air Stream Custom
I use Gliss#24, Sufix 832 #8, PP and PP super slick#8/10. My top favorite. Sufix 832 8lb for it sensitivity and sink rate, good abrasions, doesn’t make big bowl in water and quiet. Gliss #24 I like it for its sensitivity, it cut through water better than #8 PP. I have connections with my lure at all time. The problem as a lot mentioned, frayed easily, no abrasions resistance. PP and PP super slick, I don’t like it much buoyancy is to much but they are good abrasions and connection knot (double uni). I landed 2 of 7lb catfish on this line while fishing for crappie. This year I have Finns windtamer #6 to replace the one on Gliss(like it but no more) Check out flemarket I’m selling Seaguar Finesse FC 5.2lb and Nanofil 8lb.

Easy knots
I don’t know but I use double uni knot for connection braid to FC, then uni direct to hook never have any problem. I use FC from 6lb to 15lb. On the other hand I found that, any clinch knot not play well with stiff FC 12lb and up. I usually do 4 wraps for line 8lb and up and 5-6 wraps for 6lb and below.

Damaged my spinning reel - what should I do?
seem like you have FD model? The part you mentioned is the one in circle? The right body part (12190) cost only 8.88 dollars but seem like you are in Canada, not sure how much the cost after shipping plus FD is pretty old might as well get new reel. Your choice man.

Curado K vs 70 for Flipping
You are pitching with 7’6 rod? You are good man otherwise time to buy new rod too, bait monkey is calling your name loud and clear.

Damaged my spinning reel - what should I do?
You thinking is so conflicting, you choose to spend another 50-60 bucks for again CHEAP new reel.

Easy knots
Uni knot, never goes wrong easy and fast, doesn’t waster a lot of line, work well for both mono, FC and braid. Also same knot can be use to connect main line or leader.
