  1. Again how far can you pitch with 65lb braid? 20-30 feet. You already have a reel that work why asked? If you want to buy a new reel just get one no need for excuses, bait monkey is waiting lol.
  2. It might cost you only 10-15 bucks for a part, instead of spending 60-70 for new reel. The spare spool may worth 10-15 bucks but other parts is not really worth anything.
  3. If you like smooth, and control get Daiwa. If you like classic, robust get Shimano. If you smart get both......
  4. I would love to get 14-20” IPT on my reel. All my Daiwa even the 7.2 air, I converted to the lowest I can find 5.8 (IPT 25”). Actually he is right one thing if lure wonder to the left meaning too much brake. The one I shake my head the most is when ppl compare 1/8oz whatever jig to 1/8oz lure. The profile and total weight is totally different.
  5. Pretty much, if you haven’t started and not really settle for baitcasters, spinning is the way to go. There is nothing can beat a versatile and easiness of spinning when come to light lure. For overall 1/4oz you can get away with any modern reel if you have a suitable rod, but truly weight 1/8oz and below you need both specialty rod and reel. All of those 1/8jig, 1/8oz spinnerbait, you will end up with 1/4oz total weight or more, which is fine for any reels this day. Regarding to line, you are not gonna expect 30-40 yds with light lure and if you are not ready for 6-10lb braid then 4lb mono/copolymer or 6lb FC is the way to go. You don’t need a lot of line 50yds on mono should be more than enough.
  6. In that video, the rod that cast the lure, reel just hold line. This rod is very noodle, must been one of his cheap UL 1/32-1/8oz. Also to only fill line only about 1/4 full on deep spool, I can see some problem. The line will develop tight coil to small arbor spoon fast and once memory set in, you won’t be able to cast that far.
  7. 1/20oz Jig head plus TRD is about 3/16oz. 25-30yds is still an excellent distance on 70 with 10lb line. The question is which rod? In order to cast 1/8oz lure you would need at least 1/8oz rod or better yet 1/16. I’m not sure spec of your 6’ M rod, it might not play well with 1/8oz lure. Remember even same weight, jig head plus small plastic or kastmaster would cast further than regular lure. If you want small reel in stock form aldebaran 30/50 MGL or alphas SV is the way to go, otherwise you might have to get into BFS or spend more money on shallow spool. I found that magnetic brake is better control than centrifugal brake when come to ultra finesse.
  8. Maybe a little too much of line? Or you can prevent this by lift up the rod to remove slack before reel in.
  9. super fluke chatter bait neko rig Fat Ika Finesse Jig
  10. I use this type knot (dropper loop knot) for mostly on my dropshot plus double rig for my crappie fishing as well. I do use Palomar knot once in awhile but to me this knot is a lot easier. One thing though if tie correctly Palomar knot is stronger and can convert to split shot rig in a flash. This the way I tie it.
  11. Legalis LT 1000 is smooth and super light weight (below 7oz) high gear ration 6x. It pair nicely with UL rod. You should be able to find it around 50.
  12. If you use braid main line, spin shot hook is a NO NO. The soft and floating braid can tangle up swivel part easily. If you don’t fish very deep water and hook plastic straight, I don’t see the need of swivel. I use Gamakatsu Finesse wise gap hook but most of the time Gamakatsu EWG #2 or Roboworm rebarb hook #1. This from today dropshot with roboworm 6” on Finesse wide gap hook (red).
  13. From top to bottom all straight tail not FX 7” 6” fat 6” 4.5”
  14. I don’t have 4.5” fat worm only 6” fat worm, but I have all size of regular straight tail worm. compare 4.5” vs 6” regular size they are about the same, but if compare to 7” the 7” definitely beefier. The 7” vs 6” fat worm is about the same thickness. I trimmed a lot of my 7” roboworm, not by choice but from damage. I trimmed it as short as 4-5”. I doubt if roboworm would use different mold for 4.5” and 6” . The thickness of both version is not much different to start with. BTW just caught 2 bass dropshot the 6” regular this morning.
  15. Happy ? to your all. We went out this morning to drop Easter eggs for all the kids in community as a part of Family Matter Club . It is bad this year we don’t have Easter egg hunt for the kids so we decided to go house to house instead.
  16. I agreed with @Bluebasser86. You don’t really need to do anything instead practice casting sidearm and overhead cast, aim for accuracy and consistency, short and long distance. Those will help your thumb to learn how to control and tether spool.
  17. How about small cooler backpack that have small pouch for your gear and plastic? You might not get a whole lot of lures but minimalist might pay off in your case of hour bike riding. For you rod if you have 2 pieces rod might be easier to carry, use Velcro on both end then try a rope or nylon strap. Or you can tie up 1 1/4” pvc pipe to your bike as rod holder.
  18. A lot of Daiwa reel come with 80mm handle, so does shimano that come with 84mm handle. Change to 90-95mm from 80mm you would see a lot easier to crank the handle and much more comfortable especially for those big hand.
  19. Mostly you will see different color brake shoe on old shimano reels. Here another one blue/gray and yellow from Conquest 50. This one you will see the difference of brake shoe size.
  20. Let me talk about location, I went out with my fishing buddy on my home lake in one evening. I was chucking big top water lure, he asked me what structure of this area. I told him it is a big shallow flat with hard bottom, he switched to lipless crank got a few bite but land one, he switched again to jerkbait and got bite right away, landed a few after that. Me on the other hand got only one bass. Location is nothing if you don’t know how to adjust, or as @WRBmentioned right lure, right place and right time. Also as bank fisherman the location seem to be even less important since bass mostly roaming more than schooling close to shore.
  21. Something like this, just find the size you like. https://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Storage-Containers-Jewelry-Hardware/dp/B07VMVYKTS/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=2x4x1%2Bplastic%2Bbox&qid=1586499886&sr=8-2&th=1&psc=1
  22. This is what I normally use. The big container is 2x4x1, the bag is 4x4.
  23. Yeah I feel the same of this new RES. I think I only caught 2-3 fish and paint half off and it happen to be the same color, chrome sexy shad?
  24. If you are serious PM me, I’m in process of converting some of my right to lefty. This reel also come with Yumeya Shallow spool for Ultra Finesse.
