Bank trip + line review (Updated)
@Team9ninehow soft and limb of the line? Do you think this would be good for crappies? I was gonna try ester line but can’t seem to get myself use true 2lb line. I like gliss line for limb soft and sensitivity but we all know about none exist abrasion resistance.

Trouble with Backlash on Strong Casts?
The braid kill it. how do you know you only got moderate distance with your moderate cast? even with well train thumb gonna be hard to do a hard cast with such heavy lure on baitcaster that why a lot of saltwater anglers switch to spinning gears for bomb cast heavy lure. You can switch to mono and cast as hard as you can without backlash, I bet you won’t see a lot of distance gain from moderate lob cast. Added, samurai braid #30 is only .01 diameter, I wonder how many hundreds yds can fit in 400 size shimano. That line alone would give a hard time to a lot of bass fishermen with regular low profile reel trying to bomb cast regular lures.

How to properly rig a drop shot to fish around cover.
Thanks, I’m gonna dropshot this coming night trip.

The Great Tag Line Experiment
I normally cut my tag end also but sometime when I tie the knot at the spot, I don’t cut tag end another reason I use trilene knot because with this knot I can make tag end as short as 1/2” without cutting.

I think I have a problem.

Ultralight Fishing question.
Per our PM, today I got to try out new Daiwa Presso 5’6 UL 4pcs travel rod. This rod will be use as my jigging rod and when I get a chance to hike up trout fishing. I like it so far light and reasonable action can cast 1/32oz jighead with some distance, sensitive is okay for the price not as good as high dollar rod but workable. I got to broke in rod pretty good for this very first time using it with some nice bass. Link to video so you can check out some action. PS.never mind my jigging technique, I’m pretty new to crappies fishing let alone jigging. This is also my first time trying jigging technique and I don’t use spinning outfit as often lol.

Heavier wire Ned Rig hook
Here supersize Ned rig lol.

832/super8 diameter
Daiwa claim tatula 100 to be zero adjuster. I don’t have one and not sure how loose the spool daiwa set on that reel. If you move the spool and hear some knocking, the spool is too loose, in my opinion. I like my daiwa, especially with braid on light lure to be “ no side to side play” after that I use brake dial to get it to where I don’t have a lot of line buffing out. You still need to use your thumb more than usual when bomb cast lure. In this case you might have to sacrifice distance for spool control until you get used to with how fast spool spin. I hope this make sense, but I believe others that have more experience than me will jump in and help you out.

832/super8 diameter
What reel? With braid I found that setting tension spool a little bit tighter than usual help. If you whip too hard on braid also trend to backlash/dig in more, doesn’t matter what line size. I use #30 original PP and J-braid on Curado 70 with no problem. With light lure (not frog obviously I use #10 on conquest 50 a little bit of overrun but no dig in). Braid is not coil up as mono/FC so you would have to thumb it sooner otherwise braid will run back into your spool causing dig in/backlash.

Jitterbug Bite
Yeah, I converted most of my top water to in-line single hook. I plan to go out tomorrow night from sunset to midnight, will throw a lot of big wake bait and whopper plopper 130. After that gonna go for some crappies. Thx OP to remind me how much I miss night fishing so quiet and calm. My lake got quite a bit of wind every afternoon but die down at night. Too bad my fishing buddy not here to enjoy it with me.

Jitterbug Bite
I wish I could go out all night fishing again, but more and more I’m afraid to use trebles hook lure especially at night.

05 Aug 2019 ~ Unusual SMB Catch
She might just tried to eat whatever in the water, in this case old plastic that got snag somewhere. Senko is well known to be eaten by bass even when it sit still in water. I watched a YouTube awhile ago where this old gent put his finger into bass throat and pull out a few pieces of plastic lure. He does that to every bass he saw and collected a bucket of them. He said a lot of fishermen left plastic in the pond and bass just eat those. added I found the video.

Help IDing Soft Plastic
Checkout zoom dead ringer, it might be even better. I got a few pack of special run color. I believe it come in different size, mine are 6” version

Everything Ned Rig
Only the one marked 3x strike king that is the same type. I have 2 bags of those, one is jerk shad and KVD finesse worm. They do catch fish, I don’t see anything like TRD.
-
Everything Ned Rig
This might look like I copied @Team9ninebut yes I copied him lol. So far I only have luck on TRD tube and one crappie on Slim swimZ, nothing on TRD craw. I tried all of this not just for bass, but hope to catch more of crappies than bass. I ordered 2.5” version of Swimz but d**n Dick’s sent me 3” instead. Next time I’m gonna trim it down to 2-2.5”. @Darren.if you haven’t tried it, I recommend baby brush hog and hula grub on either 1/15oz or 1/10 weedless.

Do you get frustrated with catching dinks?
A little bit differ than you. Two days ago I thrown a dink into a group of dinks and got a 4lber. Lol But seriously after that fish (bottom picture) I put down Gantarel Jr. and went back to UL for my dinks crappies. @WRBI wouldn’t call it enjoy but a circumstance. I still remembered 10-15 years ago when I lived in OC where I only go to city park lake around. What do you think I caught? Of course skunked most of the time and if I caught a tiny bass that would made me so happy. That kept me going until these day.

Do you get frustrated with catching dinks?
You mean this size? Nope no complaint here either especially when you catch them on UL set up.

Shakey Head Jig Worms
Personal preference. I don’t fish shakey head often but if I do, this worm first. Strike king KVD finesse worm.

At home rod/combo storage ideas?
Before when I had too much time but not many bass. I made this after built my overhead storage unit in garage, it was a reach high so no need for ladder and a temporary stand when I came back from skunked trip. . . . . Now, not enough time period. Believe me this is look a lot nicer than it usually is. Sometime I have 4-5 rod just laying on each other not on the rack. I forgot I also have another bundle (saltwater rod) just like picture on bottom.

Show off your Stuff
What am I thinkin??????! Anyway anyone that smarter than me and wanna get rid of this super old reel (only 51)but in good condition let me know. Thanks Just finished, doesn’t look so bad, right?

I did a search and nothing came up for Ned Rig?!?
Ned is not a magic lure, if there is no fish where you fish, Ned isn’t gonna help. Also try different retrieves, slow drag, lift and drop, small hop or swim it a long the bottom.

Ultralight Fishing question.
Thanks let me know how you like the rod, the bend, soft tip and action? Also if possible try 1/32oz jig head or lower with 1.5” plastic. I want to know how it performs at that range. Dont worry about the old tatula rod, I got 3 of those lol. I still have brand new 2018 tatula rod with tag but refuse to use that. Believe you made the right decision to get Tatula rod.

Heavy braid or lighter mono for setup?
This ^^^^ if you are new and still unsure, I would either go with #10 copolymer for all around techniques, a lot of folks here swear by Hybrid line. You don’t really need 14-16lb unless you fish in jungle, heavy jig or medium size swimbait (2ozs and up). You don’t really need tatula200 with line capacity of 16lb/185. The CT type R is more suitable for every day fishing.
