  1. I just fish for fun so companies are always welcome, but I always fish alone. Also family and friends that you can share the excitement of the catches are a must. Last year I had a friend and the only one I can truly call my fishing partner living with me for a few months. I really enjoyed the fishing more, we went out all night fishing a few times, we stayed out in the boat all day with no food just snacks and water, yet sometime I wanna kick him out of the boat. This year different story, things changed.
  2. Where can I buy a solid graphite stick about 1/8” diameter? I need just a small pieces to fix my broken rod.
  3. I’ll recommend one step further to buy Columbia PFG hooded version. You pay a little more but extra cover around your next.
  4. Hula grubs 5”, weightless finesse worm, Zoom Fluke 4”.
  5. As @WRBmention 65lb pp is 0.016” diameter that around 17-20lb most of mono/copolymer or 14lb Trilene XT.
  6. I’m aiming for daiwa LT 2000S
  7. Just have a small discussion with a guy regarding line twisted on spinning reel. He said if use expensive reel and bigger size spool, would eliminate line twisted. Let say I use Sahara 750 size (shimano) and #4 copolymer line. What are your guys opinion?
  8. @finI agreed The last time I use star bit (torx) when built my work bench with 4x4, since then every time I shop for 2.5” and up screw, it has to be star drive screw. The one that I’d call special, is torx bit (security) with hole in it, where used a lot in appliances.
  9. @GlennI can’t find the article, could you provide the link lol.
  10. My wife for one wouldn’t be so happy if I said I need a new set of tool.
  11. I think Okuma also use torx screw with their spinning reels. And yes US IS WEIRD. I remember first time I saw torx screw in microwave, I had to order the new set of bit. I thought they have it their so consumer cannot just open the thing too easy. Nowadays a lot of wood fasteners also come with torx screw for strong fastened since torx have more surface than other type, and yes they provide the bit (same as hex) in every package.
  12. I hope you are not in California, yesterday I saw a guy fishing for bluegill so I said are you gonna use bluegill for bait (I saw a few more bass/catfish gears plus a basket for keeping fish). He stopped after I told him it is illegal here, but once I left he went back for bluegill again.
  13. I’m looking for either 1000d or 2000s. Can’t decide yet. I don’t want to spent too much on spinning setup I’m cheap you know lol.
  14. First off, I don’t fish a lot of spinning reel, but 4000 size? How heavy is those thing? I have 2500 size symetre, and can hold plenty of line (more than enough) and it’s pretty darn heavy. Wow Sahara now sell for 90 bucks, I have Sahara 750 FB from when, 10 years ago? and still fish until this day. If you haven’t set foot yet, I recommend try to play with new daiwa LT series in store compare to those, it is smooth and light weight.
  15. Yup torx luckily I have a set in hand, hopefully I’ll fit my new daiwa (if I can find one)
  16. I don’t think it torx, May be hex screw?
  17. I think now a day most of driver bit set come with torx screw bit also. But yes it sucks to have to go into my tool box just for that. Daiwa is weird some reel use flathead and now torx. I might have to rethink getting Daiwa LT series.
  18. sometime education is better than answer alone. ”give a man a fish and you can only feed him for one day, teach a man to fish and you will feed him a lifetime” thank you tom
  19. What type of plastic when you say weightless t-rig, senko, thickworm, finesse worm, craw type? Instead of increase line size which might decrease bite rate and loose contact with your bait, I would start off by go down in hook size. I have use 1/0 and even smaller light wire on 6.5” worm. If that not slow enough, my second choice would be 10-15lb braid.
  20. The spool of Curado spin super fast despite with its hefty weight. I had to dial in for a long time before get a hang of it. As of now I have 3 brake on and dial at 2-5, but still get backlash from time to time when not careful. I have to set spool tension a little tight where a little tug make only a few loop on spool. I don’t have this problem with 200i, bantam or even with SLX with only 2 brake on.
  21. I use 8lb braid on my baitcaster for super finesse type fishing but I would not recommend that to others for regular fishing. It is a whole lot different in casting, tuneup, gears and lure weight.
  22. Me too lol. That why I bought REM oil spray to be able to clean without taking it apart never with Q-tip lol. but you can’t avoid working with c clip for too long. There are at least twos in each reel, the one on worm gear and another on main shaft bearing.
  23. Yes if you plan to fish different applications. It might not matter much if you fish heavy jig or carolina rig or punching rig. But for weightless plastic, senko, Fluke etc you will not feel the bottom and loose contact with the bait easily, due to braid float and would make huge bow under water. Way over kill for finesse jig Yes if you use too small diameter you will find a lot of dig in issue and snap back (black lash)when cast with any reel. I found 30lb power pro to be the best for any baitcaster.
  24. For those that like mag force in regards of control, you can do the same with centrifugal brake just set more tension spool to slow fall and believe you will get the same distance if not more compare to mag brake. For heavy lure and if distance is concern SVS all the way. Mag force to me is shine on light lure and if you cast into wind.
  25. Lesson learned, The c clips is the most challenging when cleaning reel, if you don’t careful enough it will fly away, it can get bent easily and not easy to put back on. i use precision screw set, the smaller flat head can get into tiny hole and pop it out with your finger hold on to the clip or under tower. Putting it back on also flat head bigger size align and carefully push back in again finger on top of the clip. C clip tool for convenient if you clean a lot of reels. I think one of tackle advisor video use this type tool. if you order new clips make sure to get some spares, most of the reel use same size clips.
