If I’m gonna buy new reel right now, I would get president 6920x. This super light weight under 6oz. and price under 50 bucks. The only downside is gear ration 5.2 with IPT 20” (same as my Sahara 750) but for crappie and bluegill is pretty suitable.

Are you sure that would fit? It driveshaft bearing for old 200i and 50e which also same dimension as Curado 70 bearing bnt4194.

You would get Curado rod for a replacement in MH same length if available otherwise next size up. You will have to pay shipping to Shimano and normally Shimano would ship rod back to you with no charge. As other mentioned no receipt needed.

You know what I have not fish for bass for quite awhile becuz I enjoy this.

Another option for you is to search for schematic of SLX MGL or SLX XT those two come with main-shaft bearing. If they are the same bearing as in Curado, you might be out of luck, meaning Shimano modifies SLX frame to fit regular bearing.

Cmon guys, I know you all are expert on casting gear, but the guys already said he’s been using the reel for 6-7 years and just got this problem recently. How often you service your reel? Have you ever add oil/ grease into two pads as @kickerfish1mentioned? Both side have this part one under control cap and opposite side under bearing palm side plate. These pad might dry out. I use star drag to hand tight the nut all the way in, then tightens handle nut to hand tight plus a few more from wrench usually to align the hole for handle cap screw. After install loosen the drag star all the way to see if you can still get loose spool, it not you tighten too much. It too loose or handle can move in/out you don’t tighten enough.

The regular size main shaft bearing that you found on a lot of Shimano’s won’t fit in SLX.

I use Shimano sensilite UL 1/32-1/4oz, 6’6 ($50) on Sahara 750 ($50) for crappies and bluegill. This rod fish like light more than UL. I can cast 1/32oz jighead further on my casting rod compare to this. I’d go with UL, it is a lot more fun catching them on UL and sometime you might need 1/64 or 1/32oz jig head tip with wax-worm or plastic. BTW I normally use this setup for weighted bobbers which help me get more distance. here my setup and the fish of course ?

Another option for you is to find Inshore Casting rod. You should be able to find 7’ within your weight range, but action might be MF at best.

I use 7’ rod for my medium size swimbait hudd 68 special also glide bait and large topwater up to 2.5oz. I think it is better control for tight place like kayak and my jobboat or in the cove and also easier to handle for topwater and such. I use 7’9 for 2-6oz lure only in open water and plenty of room to swing. Mine is not true swimbait rod, though so I don’t recommend. It is Phenix UltraMBX 7’ XH rated up to only 1.5oz.

Someone once told me, if I buy good tools I buy once, cheap tool twice. Now I have two miter saws, two routers and two circular saw. this might not apply to fishing gears though since now I have more than 15 rods/reels.

This is how I temporarily fix mine, if anyone care. Without friction ring even it work but once a while the bail still close on hard cast. Luckily I use 1/20oz jig head imagine if this 1/4oz, i’d Lost lures left and right. I know some online have part but will cost me 6 bucks for shipping. I’m cheap lol.

What type 1/20oz jig head? I wanted to try swimZ and TRD on 1/20oz but I only got ball jig head in 1gram and 1.5 grams.

Same as other cheap brand on US market right now. The difference is Favorite sponsor those youtubers and some boat tournament, so the name is out there first and of course they charge premium on it. Even name brand these day, using third party (doyo- Korea) to make the reels in their name, just to start Daiwa, Abu Garcia, Lew, 13 fishing.

A real bass fisherman? Count me out. I refuse or don’t know how to fish so many lures like crank, lipless, paddle tail swim bait. I don’t practice my accuracy, Flippin, pitching. I give up fishing so easily, and I’m too lazy to take my boat/kayak out even on my day off. I haven’t caught any bass for quite awhile and I don’t care. Yes I have newer gears/lure but that is another joy of shopping for me.

Oops don’t seem you adjust spool tension already. You can get Curado 70 but that gonna be even wilder than 50e.

Where are you gonna order it? 253 supposed to compare with Shimano 300 series, but line capacity on Luna is a lot less, less than what state on their website. So if you compare with 200b (14lb/120yds) then Luna 203 (14/150). If it were me i’d get 200d.
