Judging fish by pics
Show your mug for once, lol.... Anyway what do you guys think this one weight? Look like a 2-3 lbs, huh?

If you get 10 good strikes on a plastic, how many do you expect to land?
If a good strike on plastic my chance are 85%, 10% failure from line breaking off on hookset and 5% from headshake/jump. if Jig as of now my failure goes up to 30-40% most of them headshake/jump.? lost one just last night.

Judging fish by pics
Someone once said, long arm enough to make the fish look more realistic and I agree. I don’t mind long arm fish as long as they don’t lie about actual weight or give such a pessimistic guesstimate.

Site Fishing Like Or Dislike
I’m happy that this year our lake water is so muddy and not easy to sight fish. I don’t see a lot of young kids walking and yelling along the shoreline. I like sight fishing too, mostly in summer when school of bass cruising and chasing bullgill in shallow. It was fun using light tackle to target those fish.

The ones that haunt you... Big ones that got off
Oh the one that got away. i have one happened recently, it was not huge by any mean, but still hurt me quite a bit. I lost a good size fish on jig after floating and dragging jig around for a couple hours. I’m pretty new to jig fishing and this fish might help boost my confidence. Anyhow after look back I now know my weaknesses and need to improve that a lot especially for jig fishing. I don’t have Hollywood hook-set, and also the action you see a lot in YouTube like “there’s a fish....123 loaded the rod... and bam”.

What is your favourite reel in your arsenal

T-Rig | Worm Sliding Down The Hook
Thanks @A-Jaybut I think I used the wrong word. I meant to say pegging plastic to hook eyes with either tooth pick or big mono.

T-Rig | Worm Sliding Down The Hook
I have a question for those who pegs their plastic, does it help preserve the lure better with unpegged when fish bite? I don’t really have a lot of sliding down problem so I never peg.

Left or right?
Sometime left, most often time right. Someday caught fish on both left and right handed reel. (Not included spinning reel) The more I fish left, the more I like it, but only one technique that I cannot use lefty one (swim bait type) cannot get myself to reel smooth enough at speed I want.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
@kenmitch, the canyon lake is still good bass fishing lake, the only bad part is me “I’m still sucked at bass fishing” only catch a few here and there lol. You know what BR members always welcome to fish here. The only thing I ask is to follow the rules by those ..... HOA ppl. Let me know when you wanna come fish here. The north part of the lake is good for fishery but bad for us. The water level come up high and flood all the dying trees, hard to get to shallow area by the shoreline.

Good job man to stay in the wind, especially Perris lake. It was windy pretty bad in our area for the past 3 days. Tuesday I took jon boat out and it was pretty hard to stay in the wind even use anchor (kayak anchor) the boat still moving around like crazy. Manage to caught only one pitching jig around shallow. Wednesday decided to stay shoreline and caught 3 on Senko (feet from shore).

Small battery question ?
Just like @MN Fishermentioned exactly, depends on how big the screen and how much amp use per hour. I have 4” screen lowrance which draw around 1amp and my 4.5 amp battery last around 5 hours. Bigger screen normally draw more power.

Curado K pinion support bearings issue???
This going issue is only thing that seem to happen with most of newer Shimano mostly with X-ship. I still can’t confirm it is pinion shaft support (smaller bearing the one @OnthePotomacmentioned) or pinion gear support bearing. Daiwa win hand down in this department whenever I use Alphas SV105 the reel is super smooth like nothing on the line. I ended up getting 2 xtra set of these two bearing from Shimano and clean them along with spool bearing or when it get louder or geary. I’m gonna try just a drop of bantam oil next time (without cleaning) to see if it will improve the problem.

Looking for Best finesse Daiwa baitcaster, anyone try the new smaller tatula 100?

DIY Rod Rack
Awesome job man. I dig your work. If you want to make it fancier, you can cut both side support into fish or whatever shape with band saw or hand saw. You can also drill 1-1/2 hole with forstner bit on the bottom board aligned with hole on top(3/8 deep giving that you use 3/4 plywood), so the rods won’t move sideway when you put it down.

Antares 19 / Bantam MGL
Look sweet, and no can’t afford one myself. I’d say it is not smaller than bantam. your first pic angel kinda off so bantam look a lot bigger, third pic seems like bantam would sit lower on the rod. The 70 size mgl spool would definitely help casting light lure even better.

New Antares 70
Smaller than bantam? But still 7.8oz reel.

Do the Ark Sniper Rods fish close to ratings?
Have you tried sniper rod yet? How was it compare to your elite tech small mouth? I’m looking for a rod to replace my crucial gen 2 6’11 dropshot 1/8-3/8, which I used for everything from weightless trick worm all the way to Fat Ika, but mainly for Super Fluke.

KNOWING WHEN TO CALL IT, LIVE TO FISH ANOTHER DAY
I have not watched this video yet, even I’m one of his subscribers but seemed like he made a good call. I was once made a stupid call, taking my float tube out at main lake where the wind hit the most. I already knew it was kinda windy and hesitated a little when I got to the spot. I decided to take chance and planed to stay close to shoreline with hope wind would die down. “Wrong choice” 5-10 mins in the water I already out about 100 feet. The wind also pick up stronger. I kicked too hard to get back to shore and that I lost one of my fin. I used the other fin as paddle but no way I can get back to shore. I tried to hold a few of buoy I passed even cast my line out in hope of it snag to something with no luck. End up I had to call marine patrol to come and rescued me. He said this is his first time towing float tube behind lol.

Repainting wiggle warts
@Heartlanddo you have any recommendations? I have 3 swimbait lures that I want custom paint. I don’t want anything crazy just crappies looking bait.
-
Uneven line
It would be a lot easier if you just snap a pic or two and show whatever you called it bumpy or uneven line. I’d bet it how you spool the line made it look bumpy not the line itself. If you don’t apply tension while spooling or hold line to just one side of course the line will not lay smooth and uneven.

Daiwa Tatula Casting Rod
Under rating? Maybe not, this rod rate 1/4-1oz Lure, I can cast 1/4oz jerkbait all the way to WP 110 no problem. I also use it for 3/8oz jig with rage menace with no problem but like I said it is in the soft side compare to my other MH rod Fenwick Ateos 7’2 XF. I prefer a little bit stiffer tip for jig so Daiwa MH is perfect for 1/4oz Jig.

OMG, Lures are so expensive.
This theory doesn’t work with shore fishing, though, another reason I don’t throw crankbait/swimbait often but hudds. I remembered first time I used bull shad, I had to swim out to retrieve my lure. I think I lost total of 3 hudds last year.
