  1. If you like the color, go for it. It is pretty small, and comfortable to palm compare to Daiwa Tatula and Tatula CT. The knob and handle is super comfortable to hold, it gets the same big knob as Curado K. It is not as smooth as Daiwa but get pretty good solid feel. The casting distance is pretty good with 3/8 oz and up better than my old CT and Shimano Curado I. The best part is price under 100 bucks very affordable to both beginner and experienced. I don’t mind having a few more.
  2. Sunday morning, waiting for my breakfast.
  3. Try to set spool tension like this set mag dial to 0 set spool tension where the lure drop freely but no overrun when the lure hit water. Now you can set mag dial to any you prefer, adjust only mag dial until you not get backlash.
  4. If you want smoother reel, of course get Daiwa, but lack of sensitivity in the frame? You might not find that in any reels except magnesium frame reels. The Tatula 100 which base on old steez frame is pretty comfortable to palm, it just a tad wider and taller than curado 70. When I had my CT type R I like the reel for heavier bait 3/8 oz and above. If you get Tatula remember you don’t need the line over 100yds whatever line size you prefer, The more line the more weight on spool. Heavier spool and heavier line would effect casting distance for lighter lure.
  5. Went out for catfish/crappies drifting for a few hours since my wife demanded me some catfish for next weekend-get together. The water is so muddy from the rain we got a few days back and a lot of floating debris. I managed to catch two good size catfish 4-5 lbs with my special bacon recipe but NADA for crappies.
  6. That look like Calcutta 25 in his hand ? I don’t remember it’s that small when I had mine.
  7. @Outdoorsit should be safe as long as you don’t lock your drag down and try to un-snag your lure with your rod. Try not to horse your fish in or lift/flip your fish your rod. Even i say it safe, but I have seen some that either rip their guide out or broke rod tip when set hook, mostly in frog fishing.
  8. They are the same frame gen4 as far as I know ALX got aluminum gear not sure about different of spool also bearing is better with ALX. Newer STX got new dual brake system while ALX just plain Jane mag brake. I almost got ALX once it was released, but returned it due to its size.
  9. They are almost the same, as @BaitFinessementioned sideplate may fit each other as well as maingear, the spool also same length only Alphas/sol wider 33mm vs 31mm on pixy. As you can see from your sol compare to curado 70, Alphas/Pixy platform still wider and sit a tad higher. Even new Tatula 100 which base from old steez platform still larger than Alphas platform. To me 50s is the most comfortable to palm but some how it hurt my palm when fishing with jerkbait. The 70s is second and Alphas is not too far behind. I like Alphas/Pixy when fishing Finesse weightless worm since I do a lot of one hand fishing.
  10. Why so, line capacity? 70s only got 85yds of 12lb while bantam mgl got 110yds. The size of course bantam mgl is bigger but not by much, I think it might even suit you better both physically and how you fish.
  11. If you have those two you might not be able to find anything smaller in modern reel, not even pixy/Alphas or Abu gen4 reel (all oem reel). I’ve tried them all. Now smaller and lighter that another quest, both 70 and 50e are 6oz or more. Aldebaran MG7 and Core 50MG which is samebody as 50e but under 6oz. Pixy same as Alphas also come in below 5oz.
  12. Glad you had a fun year and seem like more awesome years are waiting for you and your wife. Keep us post on you big catch.
  13. Mono for most of top water or chatter bait. Braid for Jig and frog Fluorocarbon for weightless worm not Senko. copolymer for everything else and in between.
  14. I might be second after you, today I caught 2 bass and I talked to myself "d**n it is a bass again" lol. To me it is not only bass, I just love fishing, period. I love to fish for any type. Sometime I will go out drifting for catfish, I used to be super crazy about carp. I love ocean fishing and I don't mind hiking for trout.
  15. @TOXICI have a question for you. I've been fishing this spot from super long dock(almost 100') for weeks. I caught a few crappies almost every time but all of them small 4-6". Most of the fish caught around 5 FOW close to shoreline. If I move out further let say 15 FOW (40' out and cast parallel to shoreline) the concentration of fish is less but fish get a little bigger. Will I be able to find bigger crappies in this area? Doesn't seem like they are schooling but more like roaming around. This area is well know to have a lot of shad in the morning and evening. I see a lot of activities on surface. I tried bobber a few time with no success even changing the depth so I use what I know best dropshot double rig(1/16oz Ned Rig as weight and #4-6 hook Nose hook baby shad/crappies Magnet about 12-18" on top)
  16. x2 on Fluke and would be first choice even before Senko. How far is your target area? 5" Senko is almost 3/8 oz you should be able to cast pretty far even wacky rig (at least 20-30yds even more with Texas rig) What is your setup?
  17. How about wacky rig 3" Senko instead of nose hook? I had some success on wacky rig Roboworm Ned Worm 3" when they roaming around grass in shallow.
  18. Do you think which one is smaller?
  19. ALX came out about a year ago before revoX, SX or STX. They are the same body Gen4. I think ALX came out about the same time as Mag2 which is target those who want extreme light weight reel. I believe ALX have aluminum main gear and better bearing but since it older it got regular magnetic brake instead of dual brake system icv4/6. The weight ALX 5.5oz and SX 6.6oz. I think the have now AL-F to replace ALX.
  20. What else do I need?
  21. I thought bass fishing is hard, it even d**n harder fishing for crappies. I have to fish super slow and the bite is super soft just one super tiny tab and it is gone. As of now I only fish double rig(dropshot) to learn how to feel the bite. I wish spring is coming soon and I might even skip pre-spawn bass this year. Anyway today only caught two from shore, still small not slabs.
  22. Are we talking only Black Friday, correct? Lol Just like @Bluebasser86I wasn't gonna buy anything, since I wasnt sure what I need and didn't have much time to do some shopping. Woke up early on Friday, prepared to go to work browsed thru some site while having coffee end up at Tackle warehouse and remembered I need Mend-it. With that little time, end up spending $60.58 to save shipping for a bottle of Mend-it?.
  23. Part of my order came in today, gotta have some fun this weekend. Oh forgot this is bass resource not crappies resource ?.
  24. Kick-(B)ass2 since I'm still kicking, and I have not touch my bass setup for weeks. Here is one from last night.
