  1. My best 2016 LM was 3lb6oz my avatar pic caught on a 5" senko. I also caught my personal best smallie at the exact same 3lb6oz weight on a 4" senko. Blue/black for the smallie I don't recall the color for the largemouth.
  2. Hollow body topwater for me as well. My favorite is a white LiveTarget field mouse. The bass I caught on it this last year absolutely destroyed it, I caught all of them (great hooks), and I actually saw a white mouse running around in the lily pads one day so to me that just adds to the realism factor. I fish a lot of different topwater stuff, but that mouse I just get the feeling every cast that it's going to be annihilated.
  3. Looking at pictures of that, I don't know how they call it a SOT. It's a SINK with an open cockpit. I'd take my Old Town Vapor 10 Angler any day over that one. If going SOT, you need to be up higher, preferably with a more comfortable seat. The cheap molded plastic ones will leave you wet and annoyed IMO.
  4. If he did go to Buffalo, where would he send McCoy off to this time? J/K, I doubt Buffalo would even consider him. They've at least got some talent, I actually really like Tyrod Taylor. Just need to get that defense back to a top tier unit and with Taylor, McCoy and a healthy Watkins there's something to work with. Then again as someone already mentioned, there's still that division rival that nobody wants to play, especially down the stretch.
  5. Chip Kelly's system is a huge fail in the NFL where linebackers actually know what they are doing and the QB can't just run for 25 yards every time a corner doesn't fall down, but the Niner's have one of the worst rosters talent wise in the league. Not much he had to work with after the post Harbaugh exodus. He'll get canned, but so should the GM.
  6. I was surprised they didn't fire him the moment he announced hiring Rob Ryan.
  7. I wouldn't say you need to spend a bunch more, a Berkley Lightning Rod can be had for <$50 and are great. I'd add a Medium power in at least 6'6" to open up float-n-fly to your arsenal. This can really slay trout, but with a short UL rod not practical to cast.
  8. Good luck, I paid $399 for mine brand new but it was on a good sale and is a sit inside. The entry level cheapo SOT kayaks did not look good to me, but for a couple hundred more you could snag a good one used if you are patient. I almost got an Ocean 13ft SOT with two paddles (was a two or one person model), two PFD's and upgraded seats for $550 but just couldn't figure out where I would store it.
  9. Borrowing a theme from my motorcycle riding days where you take a picture of your bike in front of a landmark and someone has to mirror it to post their next picture. Post a picture of a bass you caught on a specific lure, the more obscure the better. To reply, you have to post a picture of a bass you caught on that same lure then you can post yours and so on. I will start with a bass caught on a Johnson's Silver Minnow spoon.
  10. Thanks to you I have one of these sitting in my Amazon cart. Haven't placed the order yet, but I'm a sucker for anything topwater so it's only a matter of time. This year I found a great place below a dam on a river for smallies that barely gets touched. No boat access and very limited bank access so it's a kayak fishing haven.
  11. I carry a small bag that only fits 3500 series boxes, still have yet to come up with anything great for spinnerbaits. I cut up one and it does work, I like the way you notched yours rather than removing entire sections though.
  12. I have never used a Jitterbug, fluke, or drop shot.
  13. Great story, and as a son with a similar stepmom situation it gives me hope that it might not be like that forever.
  14. I bought a pack of Trokars on sale awhile back at Dick's for the same price as the Gammy's I normally use. Haven't used them yet but they are a bit stouter looking/feeling and the sharpness is great. Senkos are already so fragile though I'm sure they will shred them like others have experienced.
  15. Where I river fish for smallies it's a "selective gear" fishery to protect the native redband trout. So single barbless hook, no bait (includes scented plastics). I've done well on inlines, float-n-fly, Mr Twister grubs on a 3/32 jighead. I've pinched the barbs down on a couple of Strike King Mini King's but have lost them both on the first cast stuck in the rocks. Also tried some cranks and poppers with a single hook but I haven't caught many like that. I really wish I could toss a 3 or 4" Senko in there.
  16. I got a 90 in loon, caught one good fish on it but didn't get a lot of action otherwise. I too installed single hooks. Anyone try that crazy looking whopper plopper buzzbait thing?
  17. My latest treasures include a Daiwa Revros 2500, the three Rio Rico Blems from the tacklewarehouse sale, 6 packs of Owner treble replacement hooks with the eye turned the right way (thanks J Francho), and one Norman Scorpion off of Amazon just because I love the concept. I have a lake in mind that gets super weedy that I caught a decent bass this year on a Johnson's Silver Minnow spoon trying to find something to throw, I think the Scorpion could do well in that situation. Or considering that they didn't sell and have no reviews it might be a dud...
  18. I was on the fence about it, then made one post using Firefox and now I can't post anything or reply to PM's. I can't figure it out, thought maybe I got banned. I click in the reply box and it's like a field you can't click in. Had to log in on Chrome to post this.

My boy is 5, and baby girl just 5 weeks. I'm glad to have both. No idea what the point was of what your buddy was saying. He was hopefully just tanked saying stupid stuff.
  20. Here's the three I was able to order, also a LiveTarget popper in the picture for forum member Igotwood who is going to be dressing up these single hooks for me to complete the look. They all had split rings also which was nice. I notice a couple of tiny imperfections in the paint on the rainbow one and the "clown" one. Can't find anything wrong with the green one though. They look fantastic. They're heavy (I hate trying to cast a Pop-R), and great rattles.
  21. I learned to use a leader on my T-rigs instead of tying direct to braid. Also learned to seek out waters that can't be touched by a bass boat. A couple of my best fish came when pulled up to the shore way back in the thick stuff and parallel casting along the bank.
  22. I do however though have a similar experience to the one talking about something stomping around the campsite. Every Memorial Day my family has a big camping trip in the mountains, far from civilization. One year my friend and I got off a couple days early and decided to go up a night before anyone else would be up there. We had a Coleman tent trailer, tons of beer and a .22 rifle. My friend got absolutely plastered and I ended up babysitting him the whole night, finally put him to bed and I'm just laying down listening to the last of the campfire die out and I start hearing footsteps. Big ones, getting closer. I start to panic. The .22 is in the Explorer just a few feet away but it's too late, whatever is out there is already in camp. I spotlight out the mesh windows and can't see a thing, so finally wake up drunkboy and tell him I'm going for the gun(not that a .22 is going to do much but 10 shots of anything is better than nothing) and to stay awake in case anything happens. I rush out, open the hatch, grab the .22 and dive back into the trailer to find him sawing logs again. Thanks bud. I stayed awake all night, never heard the stomping quite as close to us but I was on pins and needles from that point.
  23. I've had that a lot back when I had tons of leg surgeries and was taking painkillers. I found "Old Hag Syndrome" to be an exact description, and regardless of what ever happens to me I'll never take a narcotic painkiller ever again thanks to that. I have a good ghost story, but it didn't happen to me directly or have anything to do with fishing. I trust the accounts of those involved though. Slight backstory, my widowed great grandmother remarried a man that owned a lot of farmland and an old farmhouse. Here's the house, built in 1896. Middle of nowhere. My grandma's older brother and his wife eventually moved out there and raised their kids (twins) who are my older cousins by a few years. They did lots of updating and we had quite a few family gatherings at that place, rode ATV's, all sorts of stuff. Well one time when everyone was staying there my aunt and uncle were sleeping in one of the upstairs guest bedrooms and kept getting woke up by a ticking sound. My uncle finally got ticked off and assuming it was a moth smacking against the window got up to smash it or let it outside. When he stood up he instead looked into an old man's face in the mirror of a vanity mirror attached to an old dresser in the room. They were freaked out but never said anything since there were young kids living in the house and they didn't want to scare them. What really makes this one stick for me is that several years later we were having another family gathering at my great grandmother's house in Clarkston, Wa, and my dad and stepmom had the exact same experience except they never saw anything, just got woke up by the ticking sound. When dad mentioned it my uncle went downstairs and sure enough it was the same dresser with the same mirror. For whatever reason they moved it from the farmhouse to her house in town. I went in and looked at it, didn't see anything but it raised the hair on the back of my neck. I've never been a fan of mirrors since then, and won't look into one at night.
  24. TW says #6 for the small ones and #4 for the Rio. I am going to use single replacement hooks instead, so it works out to #2 and #1 for me.
  25. Wow those things sold fast. I saw the deal while I was at work but waited until I got home to order, most of the ones I was eyeballing were out of stock by then. Still ordered a few, I've yet to find a popper I have much confidence in maybe these are the ones.
