  1. The Shimano Nasci FC is very good. I have the 1000 size and its smooth and casts very well with 6 pound Sufix Siege mono
  2. for what its worth I have the tranx 400A and its amazing.
  3. does anyone know when shimano switched to a bushing instead of a bearing in most of their spinning reels? anyone know why? and which reels currently have a ball bearing in the line roller? only stradic on up?
  4. ok thanks. I'm trying to see if the new Ultegra is dark grey or the same steel blue.
  5. anyone have this reel? is it dark grey or super dark blue? can you post a pic? it needs to look great on my imx pro spinning rod and I don't think blue will do lol
  6. anyone have this reel? is it dark grey or super dark blue? can you post a pic? it needs to look great on my imx pro spinning rod and I don't think blue will do lol
  7. I discovered Sufix Siege and Elite mono several years ago and never looked back. they are both awesome. I use them on both baitcasting and spinning gear. I tried braid and the whole braid to leader thing and I didnt like it.
  8. Wow I'm surprised that a 200 size is ok with all the big pacu, tiger shovelnose cats etc around. you can hook into some big fish pretty easily no?
  9. Skinny Dipping always gets your rod wet.
  10. honestly, I would probably get something like a St. Croix Premier MH musky rod and a tranx 300 or 400. Amazonian peacock bass can reach 20 pounds never mind the huge catfish etc. for big lures you will need a 300 size baitcasting reel. I don't think Abu still makes heavy duty rods for big fish??
  11. I can't do bright white or neon green fishing rods either lol, or the purple color of the Mojo bass etc I'm old school lol I like silver reels or even black and gold ones. but not neon green or bright yellow
  12. maybe but recall they released the Calcutta Stogie at one time that was really cool looking:
  13. Wasn't the SS Tournament not balanced as well? like the rotor had wobble? The stradics and symetres of the day had dynabalance so there was no wobble.
  14. its funny that until recently shimano hasn't really had the 'long stroke' spool design on most of their reels but Daiwa famously had it on the SS tournament reels. I feel like the last big improvement in casting distance for shimano was when they introduced the propulsion spool lip - this made a big difference in casting.
  15. Does the long stroke spool make a difference for casting? I know shimano's normal design casts super far already.
  16. lol ya same here. some weeks its the only exercise I get
  17. I launch baits with my Loomis Imx Pro MBR 903C. The 7'6 length combined with the MH power and MBR taper is really an awesome combo. It might be a rod to consider for your needs. On the spinning side I use the imx pro SJR 901S another 7'6 rod. These rods have been real rocket launcher casters. I too like long rods. My shortest rod these days is a 6'7 spinning rod lol
  18. you don't have to switch to braid if you don't want to. I use 12 pound Sufix Siege Mono on my baitcasting combo and have caught everything from bass to teenage musky on it. Its strong and cast smooth.
  19. Mono gets a bad rap for casting distance but I'm constantly amazed how far I can cast a #3 Mepps black fury on my Imx Pro SJR901S 7'6 rod with a shimano nasci 1000 with 6 pound Sufix Siege mono. I guess the long rod really helps
  20. The highest end stuff I have fished with is the Loomis IMX Pro rods and I have to say there is a big jump in sensitivity and casting distance with these rods compared to my lower end gear. They are rocket launcher casters (granted they are the 7'6 model spinning and casting ones) but still
  21. G. Loomis rods for me. Worth every penny. Light, balanced, strong, sensitive and durable.
  22. I like the smoke green color that Sufix Siege has. where I fish it blends right in
  23. What line are you using? I use sufix Elite and Siege mono on my spinning rods and I'm not getting that occuring?
