Is flourocarbon worth the headache?
I've never tried it as I use Sufix Siege or Elite mono on both my spinning and baitcasting rigs. But is it true that it is very stiff on spinning gear and doesn't hold a palomar know well?

Help me buy a new rod (IMX pro MBR)
I have the 903 MBR paired with a Curado I 200 PG. its an awesome sensitive rod. I can't see why the 904 would be any different but it would be able to handle the higher weights.

TheReelTest trolls the new Tatula 100 into oblivion. Simply disgusting. I cannot believe it!
He doesn't know how to use a baitcasting reel at all. He overfills spools all the time, backlashes and gets loose loops all the time, yet his channel has tons of followers. Its insane. I pointed out how his spools are always overfilled and he commented "my reels are always filled with the perfect amount of line" yeah ok buddy lol

Your all time favorite Shimano baitcaster.
Awesome what'st the 90s era Loomis spinning rod at the bottom?

Any experiences with the NRX+ 903c?
I have the IMX Pro MBR 903C and its great for throwing 1/2 oz spinner baits so I can't imagine why the NRX version wouldn't be great for throwing bladed jigs.

Help iron out my loadout
maybe a dumb question, but what happens if you tip with thousands of dollars worth of rods/reels on there? are they tethered in while they are in the rod holders?

Why did Daiwa remove the Air Bail from the new LT spinning reels?
I believe its a hollow tubular bail as apposed to a solid wire bail.

What model was the Loomis rod that broke?

How much does a higher end rod ‘help’?
I have two imx pro rods and love them. I have the MBR 903 and the SJR901. But I dream of fishing with a GLX or NRX to see what the next two levels feel like lol I went from a 2015 model E6X to the imx pro and the imx pro made the E6X feel like an Ugly Stik lol big noticeable upgrade there lol

How much does a higher end rod ‘help’?
one thing is for sure, when I upgraded from lower end gear to higher end stuff, when a fish hits your lure it feels like a lightning bolt lol. The dampening effect of low end sensitivity to higher end sensitivity makes a big difference in 'feel' when you get a strike. I'm comparing Walmart Eagle Claw rods to Loomis 90s IMX and GL3 rods here. I remember the feels lol

How much does a higher end rod ‘help’?
When I first upgraded from lower end stuff to higher end stuff, in addition to balance, weight and sensitivity as mentioned above, I found that the higher end rods cast a lot better (farther). I guess the crisper blank transfers the power better in making the cast? I'm not sure but I know casting distance was a big increase for me.

Your all time favorite Shimano baitcaster.
Awesome can you post a pic of the 92 Calcutta? they were all silver back then right? the gold ones came out in the late 90s?

Rod most similar to a GLX 842c MBR
What about the imx pro version? they have that particular model offered. the imx pro's are awesome rods!

Your all time favorite Shimano baitcaster.
I really like my Curado 200i. These reels get a bad rap for some reason but Tackle Tour loved the reel and I bought one based on this review: https://www.tackletour.com/reviewshimanocuradoibaitcaster.html I got mine in 2016 and i still use it all the time on an imx pro MBR 903C with 12 pound Sufix Siege for all purpose work

844 vs 904 MBR
I throw a lot of crank baits, spinner baits and Mepps #5 Aglia and Black fury lures on it. Even caught my first muskie from shore on it (was fishing a river and he smashed my Mepps #5 Black Fury)

844 vs 904 MBR
I have the MBR 903C in the IMX Pro version and I love the extra length. You can really make long casts with it. I wouldn't hesitate to get the 904.

Shimano Expride Spinning Light/Fast
another option might be the 7'6 light power IMX Pro, the SJR 901S. I have the rod and really like it for throwing anything on the smaller side (but not UL)

A love letter to mono
yup and the line lay and line roller on the reel makes a big difference too. I've fished with mid to higher end shimano spinning reels since the 90s (Stradics, Sustains, Saros etc) and I've never had an issue with line twist. I think on cheaper reels it really must mess up the mono.

Switched to mono
I use 12 pound Sufix mono (Siege) on my curado 200i. its amazing stuff. Sufix makes amazing mono
-
2 pc vs 1 pc casting rod
they are much better than they used to be but 1 piece still fishes and casts better in every way. its also stronger. but ya you have to watch those tips lol

Spinning rods for everything?
I guess it depends what you are throwing. Small spinner baits are fine on spinning gear but trying to cast and retrieve a 1/2 oz one or better with big blades on it sucks. Way too much resistance in the water for a spinning reel. Same with a big mepps spinner or even a crankbait with a big lip on it.

New Fenwick Rods???
Fenwick came out with some great USA made rods in the late 90s (mainly the Techna AV and the CoFi 57 rods) then promptly switched all their manufacturing to China and made crappy rods for about the next 20 years. The damage has been done. Even if these rods are great (they have a long time loomis employee Dave Binkerhoff working with them) its going to be hard to get people to spend a good buck on these given the last 20 years of easy to break Fenwick rods.

What do you buy more often, new or used reels?
only new for me

What line are you using?
I use Sufix Siege mono on my two main rigs. 12 pound on my baitcasting rig with 200 size curado and 6 pound on my spinning rig with a 1000 size shimano nasci.
