Lews KVD fishing reels.
I would pass on the spinning reel as well. I like the screw in handle type and this one appears to have a handle nut to tighten on the opposite side. Lew’s only has a few spinning reels with screw in handles, like the Speed Spin HS series and the Custom Pro. The KVD baitcaster looks fine but I would spend the 10 extra dollars and get the Tournament MP. I read somewhere, but have not confirmed myself, that the MP is made in Korea and not China like the KVD reel. That would be worth the $10 extra dollars alone.

0 Shot Team, i am holding out
Well said. I agree 100% I get the flu shot every year not just for me but to make sure I keep my family safe. I will be getting the Shingles vaccination this week. That one is for me. Scared to death of getting that disease.

Ever hear of otters eating all the bass in a pond?
Otters eat anything and everything, fish, frogs, crayfish, etc. Even if they are not eating the Bass, which they will, they are eating the Bass food sources.

Green pumpkin vs watermelon
Green Pumpkin for me. Most soft baits I use that are green pumpkin have opaque bodies and maybe translucent appendages in the case of craws. Watermelon soft plastics always seem to have translucent bodies to me.

First cast jinx?
Superstitious nonsense! However who am I to tempt fate. I always make a short cast to a place that looks fish free before I start my session. That gets the first cast out of the way ?

The best reel brand
That’s a Mach 1 reel. Not a great example of Lew’s quality to cost ratio. Graphite reel with no bells and whistles. I would recommend the Lew’s Speed Spin for $59.99 10 bearing system, thick bail wire and screw in handle. The Mach series, with their bright neon colors are targeted for the teen and college angler. I have lots of Lew’s reels and I am happy with them all. Some more than others. I passed on purchasing the reel you own as Lew’s can and has done better

2 shot club
My wife got her second shot last month. (She works in a hospital) In-laws got their second shots last week My parents got their first shot last week At my physical last week my Doc said I am in great health so he could not bump me up on the list. Which is a good thing all considered. My job, while deemed essential, does not require me to be face to face with the public. I hope I get vaccinated before my family vacation to Florida in July. We had to delay last years so I am looking forward to this one.

Whopper Plopper 60
My bone color Whopper Plopper 60 will be arriving by mail today. It will be awhile before it sees action but I am looking forward to using it. I get most of my Smallies on the 90 size. 75 has been ok but not as productive as my 90

USPS - Beware!!!
I placed one order to a company on Monday for two items. I got one of those items today by USPS in my mailbox. The other item from the same order was also delivered today by UPS to my front door. Crazy.

Any Fans of Powell Rods
I have the Max original series casting rod. It’s a medium action, very light and really only good for a few applications. I like it. Well made and still going strong. I also have a Nuisance series spinning rod. I like this rod a lot but they don’t make it anymore. It’s still in my rotation.

Cheaper Lews Combos From Walmart?
I would pass on that deal. Not a fan of the graphite frame. Considering the cost of the Winn Grip knobs I hate to think what they cheaped out on to get the cost of that combo so low. I don’t have that combo but I would rather get the Lew’s LFS combo instead.

How to deal with disrespectful, inconsiderate neighbors fishing on a private lake?
I read the whole post. Your neighbor is doing nothing wrong as long as he doesn’t damage your property (dock) He is however an inconsiderate *bleep* Your only sin, one that I suffer from as well, is expecting people to be as considerate of others property, wishes and peace as we are. I don’t fish around docks as I know it might upset someone if my skipping skills are not on point. Brings back memories of when my Dad caught me sitting on someone’s car when I was a kid. He ripped into me about that’s someone’s property, how would I like it if that was my car and someone dented the hood. Never forgot that lesson. You keep being considerate of others. Don’t let folks like this drag you down to their level.

Show your ride...
New boat time. I have been in a pelican Tracker Angler 100 (DSG exclusive) kayak since 2017 That is a long time to know what I really want in a kayak. My list was in order of importance: Light weight Better seat Gear tracks Paddle rest I need to be able to car top this boat, and carry it to the areas I like to fish. I need a better seat with some back support I need some of those Scotty mount gear tracks I need some place to put my paddle instead of my lap. I found what I was looking for in the Pelican pioneer 100xr kayak. At 43 pounds I can lift the thing over my head and car top and portage by myself. The seat is a removable lawn chair type I so desperately wanted. It has 2 rod holder and 2 gear tracks. It also has paddle rest indents. It will be at least a month before I can get it in the water but I picked it up today.

Do you categorize your PB’s?
Just by species. I believe a PB is a PB no matter where you catch it but I relish my home water PB

Alternative for zman finesse shroomz jigheads
I super glue mine as well but pull them off after each session. I would rather lose a TRD bait than a jighead.
-
Alternative for zman finesse shroomz jigheads
I still love the Z-Man Shroomz. I have not had the issue with the hooks rusting. I remove the bait after each session and dry the hook off before storage. Berkley half head jigs are my go to backups

Surprise TV shows...
Lucifer is based on a DC Comics graphic novel. It was fun to see the character pop up on the Arrow CW show as DC Comics had a big crossover event. I am a big Doctor Who fan. David Tennant being my favorite doctor followed very closely by Peter Capaldi

Favorite budget bourbon and rye...
I am all about the budget bourbon since I 90% of the time mix it with coke. My go to was Jim Beam until the price went up so I switched to Evan Williams. When the price went up on that I switched to Early Times. Early is not technically a bourbon but it has the same taste even if it is matured in used barrels. I am all about the Canadian Whiskey. Crown Royal when I am buying something with bonus money. Black Velvet otherwise. Velvet is Crown Royal without the fancy bottle and velvet bag. It’s the Yum Dinger of the whiskey world.

USPS - Beware!!!
Ordered a reel from a place in Florida recently and it took a week and a day to get. Not bad considering the winter storms that hit during that time. Took advantage of a DSG flash sale on a kayak car carrier kit on Wednesday. Got it today. Fantastic turnaround time. Let’s see how long the other 2 items I ordered to get free shipping take. I am salivating over the Whopper Plopper 60 on the way.

Switching to mono
I do pretty well if I do say so myself with straight mono. The lightest line I can get away with. 4-8# on spinning 10-12# on baitcasters

Yum vs. Gary Yamamoto
Love both, fish both. One in shallow water situations the other everywhere else. If you have to ask you don’t know jack

Can the rage craw be fished slow?
I had one on as a chatter bait trailer. I cast, took a phone call while letting it sit there. When I started to reel it in to cast it out I realized there was a Smallmouth Bass on the line.
