  1. Couldn't agree more. In the Tennessee River you can walk across Shad year 'round. Everyone says "find the bait and you found the bass" but the entire River is bait so no kidding...... The bass are in the river.........
  2. A bite on that rig is uncommon for me. I gave up after donating a few to the bottom of the river. I know it catches fish but it's not for poor folk. Especially when you spend all the money and don't get a bite. Then cast a rattle trap and catch one in the first 5 minutes
  3. Let us know how it goes on Norris. I'm holding out until water temps drop a little there but I'm getting anxious
  4. Some guys ease into places like that in inner tubes with a long rod and no reel. Strap some super stout braid and a jig or Texas rig on it and just dip it into the gaps in the logs. Work the area super slowly and deliberately, you may not get a ton of bites but the biggest fish in the area will be buried in all that mess
  5. You could buy a fairly nice boat for that price!! Sorry I can't recommend anything up that way, when is spring in Ontario? August? Ha ha

Most excellent of bucketmouths, thanks for the pics and congrats
  7. Thanks for the follow up, the wind is brutal up there. Those steep banks are my favorite, just let the lure crawl down the rock face and watch the line carefully. If it stops it's not because it hit the bottom!!!
  8. I would be happy if I could only fish soft plastics for the rest of my life. That being said I love fishing a swim jig, I usually just put a grub on the back and drag it through grass or along the bottom. You most likely just have more confidence in the drop shot than anything else (can't blame you) and therefore catch more fish with it. Crankbait I can't help you much other than reel it fast and erratically and bang it into things
  9. That does appear to be a bad call but it is also hard to win when you score 0 points
  10. When you pause the jerk bait for long periods, leave it on a slack line. I was afraid to do this at first, thought I wouldn't be able to feel the bite. Then a 9" crappie about pulled me off the front of the boat. It is quite surprising how hard they hit it
  11. Puuuurty fish
  12. Yes it is normal for the lake to be down. They drop it 20 to 30 feet every year starting around August 1 . It can be a great bass lake from what everyone says but I have never fished it much. There are lots of big tournaments Even bassmaster
  13. Mmmmmm I agree about the double black. This scotch talk is making the work day fly by!!!!
  14. Just found this thread, good read. I like Islay scotch, laphroaig if I can afford it
  15. Awesome photos. Nice scenery too, where is that??
  16. i haven't fished it myself recently but heard of a 19lb bag winning a tourney the other day. On into the cold winter it's usually well up into the 20s to win a tourney. Sounds like spots are still being caught deep with electronics, but that's about all the good info I have heard. Some folks still night fishing too, water temp mid 60s. You can still fish Boone even though it's down, they even added 3-4 new ramps for the low water level
  17. Those LM are chunky monkeys!
  18. I've been know to wear pants like that to work or fish, old timer one time told me my pants were "starvation badges!" Hahahahha. As long as you acquired the holes in your pants from a hard days work I consider it acceptable
  19. Wow nice bass
  20. Whoa whoa whoa I didn't mean that far south. And I sure as heck can't scout any 11lb bass!!! I guess if you are going to fly south for the winter you might as well go all the way!
  21. Weightless worms sinking very slowly are your friend in clear water. As well as light line
  22. Wow great day. I have never come close to an 18 lb limit
  23. ^^I'm not saying I catch them but people do
