Awesome bass @Woody B! thanks Katie, it’s a rare day I catch a LM the size of your avg fish but I found one today. I measured a mark on my rod to see how long it was, I’ll check later. I’m guessing it was at least 4 lbs maybe getting closer to 5

Went paddling this morning for a bit during a shad spawn, no takers and I could hear my dogs barking like crazy so I paddled home real quick and put them inside off the porch so the neighbors wouldn’t hate me . paddled back out and got two with a fluke still on shad spawn, 5/0 EWG nano alpha gamakatsu on spinning gear and 8 lb basix, never tried a hook that big with light tackle but it poked them well gettin toward 10 am and the sun is bright and shad spawn dying down, saw carp eating cicadas. My buddy texted and said put a live one on a hook . Tried that and pitched it to a cruising carp. A big ole bass came out of nowhere and got it, long fight on 4 lb mono paddling backwards and using backreel to keep it away from shore but I won (all 3 pics below same fish) next cast with fresh cicada I got a carp that splashed water everywhere upon hookup, same deal paddle backwards and wear it out 4 lb mono all before 11:30 am , fun morning . I reverse my opinion about the cicadas , they are no longer disappointing 😂. I had to paddle out of our creek to clearer water to get in on the action, that was apparently the key

My wife woke me up and drove me to a graveyard nearby, there were several other cars in there with their lights off taking photos. Luckily (for her) we came down to the lakehouse which is far away from city lights. I couldn’t see a thing but she was losing her mind with excitement, she took these photos. The sky just looked black to the naked eye but the pictures were all purple. I could only see the streaks and fell asleep in the car 😂 she said it was better than when she went to Iceland to see them and payed a fortune, even hired a guide hahahaha in my opinion it was the third overhyped natural phenomenon of the spring, eclipse in the rain, small amount of cicadas, and a black night sky

I think black flies are much smaller and much more numerous , apparently nearly impossible to escape and can draw blood . Granted this is just what I’ve heard on hunting and fishing shows, never experienced it myself

I was about to post a reply but figured I’d scroll back thru time and see if I already had. Man, when did I ever have time to type that much ???? Oh yeah it was late December and I was stuck inside a tiny log cabin in Ohio 😂 Stage 6 lives on 4 years later, I just have to get out there and go fishing. Don’t really care about the details as long as we’re fishin

Get that ring resized! I temporarily lost mine (that was my late fathers wedding ring) in the platte river , luckily Michigan has gin clear water and I found it. I immediately put it in safe keeping and got it resized once we returned home. keep up the good work !
