I’ve fished mainly the Alabama river between Montgomery and mobile and it sure seems wild! Massive gators and crazy birds in every direction. We catch some gar down there but they are usually smallish. We always see monster gar and paddlefish jumping all day tho!!! Sounds like a refrigerator landing in the river. It really does feel something like the Amazon, muddy and flooded with lots of bugs and not many humans haha

Thanks again for the report! Good read. I don’t have much in the way of suggestion, I’ve only fished one tournament like that and was also lost, I’m not accustomed to zooming along a bank. Maybe a Carolina rig would at least stay on or near the bottom when the boat is moving that fast

So they were doing civil war re enactment by our place and my wife wanted to see it. We took the boat over and gar were going crazy jumping everywhere. Got some video and finally landed one after feeding them tons of cut bait

Spent most of the day messing with gar and catfish and crappie but I did get a few small LM . This one hit a fluke 3 times, pitched in a worm and hooked it instantly

We’ve had some dock owners in that area ask us if there weren’t any fish in TN when they saw our boat stickers. They are protective!

Most of the “rookeries” here are on islands as well, must be good fishing grounds
