  4. I’ve also never had any but you can modify your jig heads with pliers to make things fit easier. Just snip off little pieces of lead to shape it how you want
  5. I think I’ve filleted redears that size……. To truly match the hatch, just fling that bluegill that you caught right back out there
  6. Uh oh I think there’s a DuPont upstream of me haha. The pigeon river has been polluted by champion papermill in canton NC for a long long time, they send all the poison downstream across the border in TN and no longer have to worry about it………. The pigeon was basically lifeless in the 80s with some black sludge all over the bottom. It is now premier smallmouth and hybrid/wiper fishing . Lots of walleye and trout too
  7. I’ve got an old folding one that has been thru the ringer, I’d almost be embarrassed to post a pic. I think I found it in a river. There’s not much blade left to sharpen on the main blade, somebody must have lost it years and years ago. I will say it’s durable !

  11. Do you have wipers ? I’m not sure if what we have is mooneye or gold eye but the striper and hybrids go crazy on them like killer whales chasing seals onto the beach
  12. Our contaminants (that they know of) are mostly PCBs (poly chlorinated biphenols) and mercury. Seems like I heard the PCBs were used mainly in large machinery lubricants and last a very long time. Small concentrations are not dangerous but risk goes up the higher the amount. Most older larger organisms have more time to bioaccumulate the contaminants and the same thing happens in humans. I figure if I eat so many locally caught fish that I get sick and die, then what a better life could I ask for?
  13. That’s what I was thinking, who lays on the ground in a suit. Then I thought who goes fishing in a suit…….. haha awesome stringer though! Yeah, I didn’t really want to admit it but I’ve eaten a 6 lb bass and it was like a grouper, top notch flaky white meat haha. Don’t tell anyone………….. oh no I’ve said too much …….. I don’t do that often but sometimes they won’t release. But it’s not because big bass don’t taste good, that’s a myth
  14. That’s usually pretty close, sometimes it takes until January and sometimes it never gets below 50
  15. 47 degrees is magic smallmouth water temp for me, but I’m a days drive south. They eat like sharks at 47-49
  16. All of our waters have warnings for different species. Most of them are for catfish and largemouth over 2 lbs. On watts bar it’s those fish plus some others like striper and sauger. I still eat them, there would probably be warnings on every single fish in the grocery store if corporate profit wasn’t involved. Farm raised fish often have higher contaminant levels than wild fish. This is mainly because they are fed nothing but ground up wild fish

  21. Decent. I recently learned a trick from Jeff baron on YouTube. He said you could roll your truck window halfway down and use the top of the glass in a pinch. Pretty handy when you’re on the go
