  1. Yellow billed cuckoo is a common bird in the Appalachians to me their call sounds like the first part of the “wipeout “ song my boss found 26 of them dead on top of a bank building one time, we figured they were migrating and hit the sign
  2. Two flood gates are open in lenoir city at fort loudoun dam, I guess it spreads out enough before pickwick to where the don’t have as much current edit: just checked and there is some flow, more as the day goes on, 20k in the morning and 60k currently
  3. I’ve only been on Douglas a time or 3 and I have seen huge bass blasting shad on top in the middle every time. Like out over 60-100 feet of water. Those fish are beyond difficult to chase
  4. I’ve caught nice smallies in all scenarios, they don’t do what people want them to do. They do whatever they want, my strategy is fish it all and see what happens
  5. Ha!! I didn’t think anyone would believe it but I bet you will. years ago we were gigging frogs in an inflatable kayak and tiny largemouth kept jumping into the kayak. Like over a dozen of them! My buddies wife was in the kayak with me and screaming like crazy, it was hilarious. Even everyone on the bank was laughing at us
  6. Water was boiling hot, it was reading 94.4 degrees at one point. everyone else had pretty good success, lots of 3-4 lbers. We struggled but it was a nice evening
  7. So the guys I’m camping with throw bush hog spinnerbaits and always bring nice bass back to camp. They aren’t produced anymore but they found some disabled vets that make them and got several dozen. I got 4 of them a few years back. So this evening I decided I’m going to chuck one until I catch something. Well 3 hours in, no fish, I hooked my buddy’s line on back cast and got horrible backlash . So I picked up my black jig and caught a fish immediately…………. then I get back to camp after dark and everybody’s got big bass, the king of the bush hog has 3 fish about 4 lbs a piece. I said “I guess you got them with bush hog?” He says “ no, purple finesse worm” which happens to be my favorite lure ?‍♂️ I wish spinnerbaits were never invented hahaha
  8. Cool deal, thanks for the post. 30 feet is shallow water in east TN haha
  9. I’ve got the M/H and I had similar thoughts. I thought it was for cranking only until I used it. I believe it can handle any technique !! I’m going to try some Texas rigs with it soon
  10. I had some sort of fish hooked on a spinner bait today, it was headed out to sea and came off. Could have been a bowfin, it was pulling hard
  11. The gators made me pretty nervous in the 8th inning! That pitcher yall started also struck out quite a few
  12. No way to get it replaced? Well in that case, now you have nothing to worry about
  13. Cool deal! There’s some eagles that live at forks of the river, you can see them every day. I would think a 23” bass would just about have to be from chick but you never know I guess. Was josh sharp in it? He loves the Holston
  14. Maybe it will make it after all, coming on up
  15. “They don’t make them like they used to”
  16. I’m fishing with some folks in their 70s and 80s this week, they have their fiberglass rods from their youth. We were just remarking yesterday on how cool the guide wraps were, they also have their names on their rods
  17. My buddy fishes off a regular ole jet ski, they are handy here for running up thru shallow shoals where regular prop boats can’t get
  18. I’ve salvaged some pretty good stuff out of the river. Anchors, fishing rods, tackle boxes, coolers, etc. My boss has collected enough lumber to build a house that floated into his yard
  19. There’s more than couple human skeletons down there under the water !
  20. If everyone would not break laws, they wouldn’t need prisons
  21. Man, that’s scary. I’ll pray for y’all, bladder cancer is what got my dad
