I bet your dogs are better behaved than mine, but man oh man, a dog on a hot scent trail is a force to be reckoned with. I “had to” carry my dog a ways to get him to relent on a deer scent trail. I wasn’t ever really sure what set him off each time but I saw it with my own eyes just this evening. Luckily I didn’t have Bo with me haha i think being inside a fence for 8-12 hours each days just makes our dogs prey drive worse and worse. They spend all day running around barking at the squirrels or the UPS man or the crew remodeling across the street or all the mountain bikers, dog walkers, etc that come by daily

I like fishing below a dam in the winter . But I have done a little winter pond fishing on a golf course growing up and it seemed like the fish would roam the bank soaking up the afternoon sun in shallow water

You also have to consider what water your store bought fish come from if you go down that road People worry about fish/animals way more than the creatures themselves, it’s just human nature. The fish aren’t concerned and continue to thrive. There have been about 50-60 things that were supposed to wipe them out completely in my lifetime alone, no sign of it whatsoever every legitimate scientific study I’ve ever seen (and that’s way more than anyone ever should have to see) finds that fish populations are almost completely unaffected by rod and reel angling. Mother Nature is far more harsh (drought/flood)

Gotcha. Lake fork has a slot and they still manage to hold tourneys. A slot limit can be good but people have to follow the rules for it to work. Around here they have tried a few slot limits, dale hollow seems to have good success with it . Other lakes all it seems to do is drive tournament fishermen crazy, oh well they all have to play by the same rules so who cares. They don’t do any exemptions here but I know they do in FLA
