  1. It deployed while he was running. Ive heard of it happening going down the highway too
  2. If you dig a hole and it fills up with water, bass will end up in it, in the eastern US anyway. From what I understand, bass are not native to California so i wouldnt think the DNR is stocking them anymore
  3. I would probably call them and ask about it. Or take it apart and try some grease
  4. I have both but the canoe is best for 2 people. If you flip it, dont waste energy trying to get back in. Get you butt to dry land!
  5. I have found that its better for me to just sleep after it gets dark. Winter would be the perfect time for night fishing because its dark at 6 pm but the idea of night boating in cold water sounds pretty dangerous
  6. I get plenty of bites with drop shot but rarely hook one. What am i doing wrong?
  7. Praying for you now
  8. Yeah that was ridiculous
  9. Nice ones @Bluebasser86! Theres a blanket of baitfish thick enough to walk on everywhere i go and i cant hardly catch a bass so .......
  10. Kind of reminds me of every job ive ever had.
  11. And this is why i dont have nice things. Hope you get back out soon, i paddled my 18.5 foot center console around this weekend as i forgot to charge the trolling batteries and was camping on an island. Anchoring/paddling is still 100,000 times better than not fishing.
  12. It’s magic! congrats on the 7.4! People don’t believe a bass can just sit there and ignore ALL types of fishing lures. They can and they do it all the time. There’s a popular fishing spot right below some rapids near me. After a frustrating day of chucking and reeling and finesse fishing I decided to go swimming and my buddy had a diving mask. I jumped in and was surrounded by big smallmouth and they weren’t scared of me at all. It’s also a very hard place to catch bait but when you do, a magical light switch turns on and you catch big bass and catfish left and right. I’ve probably caught 5-6 there lifetime with artificial and hundreds with live bait. Finding fish is easy, catching them can be tricky especially in popular spots
  13. What i meant, and i think what @billmac meant (somehow i believe you quoted something he said and attributed it to me) is that they could still release the fish immediately after catch and just determine winner by the best 5 instead of total cumulative weight . Still no fish in livewell, i just dont like watching people intentionally target small bass and broadcast it on tv. I want to see the best in the biz target the biggest bass and i don't think I'm alone. Im not mad about it, just what i enjoy. And if its gone for good oh well, i still have boats and rods
  14. Methinks the hard feelings all arise when money is involved. Which is why i dont fish tournaments and got burned out guiding full time in '08. Well that and fast boats scare the crap out of me.....
  15. @Oregon Native, you have a great attitude. We are going to share a boat and fish together one of these days!
  16. Congrats!
  17. I hate to hear about this. I was driving through a one lane flagger situation yesterday and one of the workers tripped over an orange cone right in front of my van. Scary stuff, kudos to those that put themselves in harms way so we can have good roads and utilites. As for self driving cars, no thanks....
  18. The ones they make for fly fishing twist the leader beyond repair
  19. Leading us to believe genetics can also cause variations in fish color . Every individual is not the same. Lets see your punnett square for a largemouth bass that lays a few thousand eggs
  20. That would be nice
  21. Nice fish! Glad you got out
  22. Im just guessing but i bet you are seeing mullet jump. Bass can tolerate brackish water but i dont think they can live in salt water. Where did you get the baby bream? Every time i have ever used live bream in a pond it worked like magic. If you are positive there are bass, use a plastic worm. I could fish for years with crankbait jerkbait and spinnerbait and never get a bite. I do it all the time
