Effects of electronics?
Thanks for all the replies..... My take away is that if I am trying for a big and going to be in a place for a while, I rest my batteries..........if I am going for numbers with the hopes of a bug one, leave it on.....at least for now, Thanks Gents

Plopper 110
Biggest hit are on impact and within the first 20 feet of retrieve......often a reaction strike I often work it like a popper with great success Don't underestimate the 130.....even up north

1/4 oz crankbaits vs 3/8 oz crankbaits
Depends on what your rod is weighted for. Mine is on the heavier side so 3/8 works for me. Don't tell anyone but my lightest CB gets thrown on a Med spinning rod until next yr. My boat doesn't allow me to get close enough to use my CB rod. .....and yes, I am looking for a Lund too Edit.....most of my shallow CB are rated to 5 or 6 ft, and fall into the 3/8 side

Need some help.
Given the time allotted, it is the only knots that joins 2 lines and can be used for terminal tackle. It is easy and strong...when doubled it is a 100% knot....kids prefer black and white and those staying in the sport will pursue others naturally. Note.....one thing beginner fishermen should learn is to how to get the hook out of a gut hooked fish.....it is a huge problem for beginners

Newfound lake NH fishing reports
The thermocline is around 15 feet so try to match the flats around that depth with CB. There are a lot of droppoffs where soft baits will work, and top waters at dusk

Fishing with Curly Tail Grubs.
I always think you should vary the retrieve to see what they like. I usually count it down on semi-slack line......pop and pause seams to work best. I find this is less likely to get hung up in rocks

Need some help.
There's a lot of debate on line choice and not sure there is a wrong answer As far as knots, KISS and only teach the Uni/ Uni-Uni Techniques, worms ( Texas and wacky), CB, and surface. Almost everything else relates to these skills ......Difference between spinning and CB Hope this helps and thanks for doing this Al

Effects of electronics?
Folks, I have been reading that a few pros shut down their electronics once on a spot. Do you feel that sonar effects fish? I am having a difficult time since I don't believe that boat traffic effect them on popular lakes. Thanks in advance. Al

Interested in getting a bait caster setup?
No rod will throw everything. If you are thinking H, I would suggest MH instead. If you are like most and throw a lot of light plastics, a Med is the choice. If your going to be anything more than an occasional fisherman, avoid the ugly stick. Bump your budget by a few cups of coffee and us the search function for rods around 100.00 .......just one person's opinion Al

Having a new pond dug on our farm
Sorry to hear about your grandfather, but if you're not going to use Bob, I can tell you about my father-out-laws pond...... He has worked on I several time, and every time it had to be deeper. 1/3 of the pond is 15 ft and he made an island by dredging around a high spot with small shrubs. Rocks and a lot of aeration was added, and he still could not keep bass. He did get sunfish the size of Texas. I had no idea about the science until I started following Bob.

Hula Poppers and Jitterbugs
This year, white with red and baby bass have worked best. I use 10lb braid to 6lb FC, lighten the drag. With these lures, fish hook themselves and the braid will give you better casting distance if you sure fishing

Redfield Scopes
There are a lot of options in that price range and it's hard to find fault with Redfield. I have just found that scopes are a personal thing and they all feel different on different rifles as the balance is always different. You also should think about if you will be shooting while standing, prone, ect Sorry if I over complicated it.

How long will Braid line last? - so far 8 years
At a minimum I would reverse the line. By that I mean pull off the line and start spooling with the old working end. The line that has not seen the sun is better what has been exposed. That said, I pull off 75 yardish, keep the remaining braid as backing, then respond the 75 yards. This will leave you 75 yards to use in 8 years

What affect will the weather have?
Saturday seems the obvious choice and not a mistake, But I have caught my biggest fish in the rain. Early Friday and possibly all day. Thunder stores are quick moving and in the event of a storm, any available dock is a safe zone. You don't need to head back to the ramp, I have spent many storms sitting on a strangers dock

Can I us coploymer line for crankbaits?
I use 10 # 832, with 8 # FC leader and I am truly satisfied!

Topwater leader material+brand
Most top waters are straight braid. If I have a lure that might tangle, a 2 foot leader isn't long enough to change its action
