Dropshot bait selection
My second biggest bass was on a drop shot. I always use 6 inch roboworm fats. Catch largemouth and small mouth with them. I only fish them Texas rigged on my drop shot. No need to get anything shorter, as it starts to get beat toward the head of the worm I simplify cut until it’s too short.

TUNGSTEN ON A BUDGET
Swagger Tackle had weights cheaper than omfishsinkers during Tacklewarehouse’s Black Friday sale. I racked up and got them with 2 day shipping.

Cabelas lifetime warranty cancelled!
There was a similar issue when Shimano bought out Loomis. But when I worked at Cabelas’s part time earlier this year it was still fresh in the transition stage. Cabelas has a stronger presence in the western US while Bass Pro has stronger presence in the east of the Mississippi. Pretty much Cabela’s always trained it’s employees to take care of their customers no matter what happens or how many times they may break something, maybe to a fault. Some of my coworkers told me as soon as JM bought them out the first thing they did was fire 8 managers because it was too “top heavy”. I recently ran into one of my former coworkers and he said they barely get any discounts on anything anymore including Cabela’s brand. But I can say that we took back a lot rods whether they were cabelas brand or not that were broke due to recklessness on the customer’s part. Only thing from their brand that I think is worth buying is rain suits and PFDs, they also got some nice spinning reels but anything outside of that there isn’t much I could personally use.

Tournament MB Vs Revo Winch
Lefties have very limited options for deep cranking reels with low gear ratios and a longer handle. I was hoping to get a Shimano or Daiwa but I wasn’t able to find anything. I have narrowed it down to 2 reels the Lew’s Tournamnet MB Speed Spool and Abu Garcia Revo Winch. Which one would u prefer and why?

Chatterbaits - New Video!
I agree, composite is the way to go. Glass rods are too heavy for my liking.

Chatterbait color
I got all the colors to be honest but my success has come on black/blue and white so I started sticking to those colors and only buying those colors. I have caught em white/chartreuse but not the same kind of sucesss.

Casting distance
Accuracy will get you better results than casting distance. Long cast will hinder accuracy. I mainly look for distance when fan casting a grass flat off shore, pretty much everything else is close quarters.

Shimano Stradic CI4+ or Diawa Ballistic lt
I have the ballistic LT and love it

Chatterbait color
Black/blue and white is all you will need. All the color combos are to entice you to spend more money.

BPS/Cabelas?
Guidewear rain suit and PFD vests. Those were my main grabs when I worked there.

Something other than an Avid X casting for Curado K
140 feet is a pretty long cast for bass fishing. Anything longer may lead to hook set issues for most techniques. What lure are you throwing?

Something other than an Avid X casting for Curado K
What lure or lures are you trying to get further casting with and how much do they weigh? How far are you trying to cast?

(Un)official Hoosiers Thread
I heard that west side bait and tackle is closing. It’s must be hard running a bait and tackle shop. I’ll be sad to see them go.

Dream Shot vs. Roboworm
I only use roboworms, 6 inch roboworm fats to be exact. I have had so much success I don’t feel the need to go to another bait.
- What drop shot rod should I get?

One box, any lake
It gets that hot in Iowa? That list is super expensive and repetitive. Spy baits aren’t made for shore fishing anyway. But I’m glad you took the advice of the guys and I’m sure it saved you a bunch of money.

Two questions about spinnerbaits

Daiwa Tatula 100 vs. curado K
The Reel Test won’t have anything nice to say about any reel that isn’t Shimano. You won’t get an unbiased opinion from that clown.

Tackle Backpack
What he said. I got an orange Plano Z-Series backpack and it has made toating tackle much easier as co-angler and going to the pond. I am able to fit 2 smaller 3600 boxes with the 4 3700 boxes it comes with. It’s also water proof and has no zippers (that usually corrode).

TWing,gimmick or worth it?
Less friction when the casting so I think it’s totally worth it.

Palomar knot failing
Never had problems with a palamor knot or double palamor knot. Maybe it’s the line you are using. What technique are you using that requires a swivel? Multiple connections make a weak point no matter the line.

Which Daiwa spinning reel?
I have a Daiwa Ballistic LT 2500 and I would put up against any Stradic. For $100 bucks you can get the Daiwa Fuego LT, aluminum frame and its mag sealed. I always wondered why the Tatula LT is not mag sealed and it costs more.

Dropshot vs shakey head rods?
My dropshot rod is an Enigma HPT 6’11 M/F. The rod is designated for shakey heads which I never throw. I use bigger hooks than most and I like to Texas rig my dropshot baits so I tend to pull a lil harder to set the hook before I start reeling. ML rods seemed to be under powered for my liking. It’s personal preference.

Is Shimano and Daiwa even included on the sale?
