  1. Most pleasure boating ends this weekend and actually the lakes are pretty dead from what I saw today in my travels because of the unfavorable weather we’re having. Better yet, in about two weeks most anglers will be focusing on getting ready to sit in the woods chasing after the floppy tails, which means wide open lakes for the rest of us!
  2. I’m not sure if that’s the same pontoon or not, but your picture reminds me of your video that cracked me up! It went like this: Smoker voice Wanda says as she drives by you at about 40’ off your bow: “catching anything?” Quick witted A-Jay says: “I could catch you!” Your comment seemed to go right over her head. She probably thought you were hitting on her. ?
  3. I tried the smoking once and back to boiling ever since.
  4. That’s crazy! She doesn’t appear to have a single trace of a GP on her.
  5. Hank got a good grooming tonight, brushed out, and a much needed (dreaded in his eyes) bath. No that isn’t Hank in the picture, just our Pug Charlie who’s the best photobomber on the planet!
  6. Looks good! Hopefully there’s more than just you. Lol Well, it turned out pretty good! The wife was impressed too so I’d say it was a win! I’m going to do my first brisket Monday, it’s only 3.5 lbs so I won’t be out too much if I screw it up.
  7. Phase 2: cook the veggies and roast together in beef broth covered for 2-3 hours. I’ll try and take a decent picture next time 0-2 so far!
  8. I tried corn on the cob in the smoker once and it came out very bitter. What’s the secret?
  9. I just put the chuck roast on the Pit Boss. I’ll put the hickory smoke to it until it reaches 165, then we’ll start phase two. Stay tuned!
  10. Here’s some clear water. This is the view from the raft at the big spring in Michigan’s UP. BTW that’s 42’ deep.
  11. Good tips @Sam! The only thing I’d add to that is have a follow up bait like a craw or worm ready to go after a missed blow up.
  12. Good for you guys, she found herself a great home! The challenges of dominance isn't new to us either. We have a female (our only) who gets “grumpy” from time to time and decides she wants to scrap with our 13 year old pug from time to time. When she gets really “grumpy” she decides to go after our Great Pyrenees (BTW she’s a pug). So as you know a 20 lb pug attacking a 130 lb GP is a bit hilarious at times. His tail curls and she almost always wins! It’s funny how wolf packs work! I’ll continue to ramble on. Our 13 year old “Charlie” we got him when he was 10 weeks old. Almost immediately he took the rains over our 4 year old pug “Otis”. Even though they’re dogs, they still show they’re wolf heritage and he continued to be the beta male (you can guess who the alpha male was ?). My wife always wondered why they were out of control when our female was in heat, until I got home from work. I’ll quit rambling, dogs are cool!

Aye, to a fellow Irishmen. I’m not from the homeland but, I love my heritage. Welcome aboard, lad! ?
  14. It’ll go on the Pit Boss around 11 EST. I’m going to use hickory for the smoke. I’ll take pictures along the way.
  15. What are those grandpa? ?
  16. I’m left handed and I’m very offended by this! ?
  17. Oh, I’m doing low and slow for sure. Some do hot and quick from what I’ve seen.
  18. Some put the heat to a brisket and cook it “fast” (relative term because briskets take forever). I have two briskets I need to pick up soon so I can do my first brisket cook. I have a small one at 3 lbs, that’ll be my first one, that way if I screw it up I won’t be out much, then I have a 15 pounder. Maybe the following weekend I’ll do my first go round. I love a good pasta sauce!

With the holiday weekend this weekend, what are your plans for cooking, grilling, and BBQ? I just took a 3lb chuck roast out of the freezer that I’m going to smoke low and slow Saturday for a nice pulled beef slider recipe I got from @flyfisher. Pictures to come at some point Saturday.
  20. Hot digity dog, we now have A-Jay’s address! I can be there the day before tomorrow.
  21. Ok @Glenn it’s September, cough it up! ?
  22. Seems to have paid off. ?
  23. Sorry to hear that.
  24. Looks pretty good.
  25. You have too much faith in the IQ’s of some individuals Paul.
