My son took a doe a month ago with a crop damage permit belonging to a farmer I know. They destroyed a ton of his beans and corn down the road. This weekend is the youth hunt but he’s sitting it out because it’ll be too dang hot! We’ve seen a couple bucks on the trail cam in the middle of the night but that’s it. They would be really nice next year. If I hunt I’d pass, I’m not sure if he’d take one of them or not. He passed on a decent one last year which I was proud of him for. We shall see. @DaubsNU1 I’ve hunted the Sandhills of NW Nebraska before and absolutely loved it! Beautiful country out there.

@A-Jay this cold front was very nice and very welcomed! The next week albeit temporary not so much.

This curse only seems to be for QBs. 😁

@Glenn I’m taking by the end of the first quarter. There used to be the ‘Madden curse’ where the guy on the cover of the new Madden game has a terrible season. Now it seems like there’s a new contract curse with QBs. Cousins, Rogers last year, and Love this year so far. Who else am I missing?

@paul shibata your doodle has human eyes. I see a ton of doodles with them. My Great Pyrenees has them too. I love dogs with human eyes. Always makes me chuckle.

Hank would be a garbage gut if we gave him the opportunity! If we did he’d turn into a reverse garbage disposal in no time! Trust me we know from experience! Carrots are the extent of food besides the one dog food he can have….otherwise it’s a giant mess in our house! We can’t even give him pills to help his stiff hips.

I’ve never been in the ‘it’s just a dog camp’ but shamefully I was in the ‘it’s just a cat’ camp. Three weeks ago we had to put our cat Henry down due to neurological issues with his bowels. My wife rescued him a little over two years ago. I wasn’t happy because I didn’t want another animal and I sure as heck didn’t want a cat! Well, he chose me as his companion and the tough guy facade quickly went away and he became my bud. Three weeks ago I bawled like a baby when I took him to be put down. I’m no longer in any ‘it’s just a ….’ Camp because crow doesn’t taste so good.

We got one off Amazon a few years back when my son was younger. Get the strongest one you can find. The sets on Amazon come with everything you need to get going. Our results were similar to what others said, screws, nails, BBs. We did find a lure he lost a few months prior, so that was kind of cool.

For those who know me know I’ve stuck to one beer forever. Well, I figured I’d try something else and boy is it good!

Michigan has elk in the northern lower peninsula and big ones too, but it’s a lottery draw. I’ve seen penned elk before but never any in the wild and I’ve never heard one bugle. I did one time see two massive bulls (in a pen) sparring and that was a site to see. An elk hunt is on my bucket list. Preferably out west. Good luck and make sure to report back.
