  1. Congrats to her and her parents.
  2. That’s one heck of a bass @king fisher! Well done sir.
  3. I have a healthy inventory of 1/8 to 1/2oz. I have a few 3/4 and 1oz.
  4. Pad Crasher for me. I don’t invest a whole lot in color but tend to go with darker colors. I don’t remember which pro said it but the bass are looking up in order to see the frog and are mostly seeing a silhouette. Makes sense, plus if you look at any frog lure, the detail in on top where the bass doesn’t see it anyway.
  5. Nice work Dwight and crew!
  6. We’ve yet to hear any gobbling in the roost this year. Everything has been when they’re on the ground. It’s been a weird year so far. It’s either been crappy weather or wrong place wrong time. I’ve talked to the land owner and he has said he hears gobbling fairly regularly but quite the opposite for us.
  7. I get it and it took me a while way back when to hear the difference but once you can hear it it’s pretty noticeable.
  8. Jakes gobble too. If you listen real close you can tell the difference between their gobble. A Jake can’t finish their gobble like a tom does, it’s shorter than a mature gobbler. On top of the shorter gobble it also sounds like a teenage boy with his voice cracking compared to an adult male with a deeper voice. Go to the 1:20 mark
  9. Week 3 trip 5: The weather has been much better so we were pretty hopeful we’d have some action this morning and we did. We didn’t hear anything in the area we were sitting which was disappointing. Around 6:45 we heard a couple gobbles in the field across the road so we took off in that direction. As we got closer to the road we saw 5 or 6 hens along the tree line about 50 yards from one of the other blinds we sit in. Go figure we didn’t sit in it and there are turkeys in front of it. The only way to get to them without being busted was to sneak through the woods and try and cut them off. Turns out in order to get to the tree line we’d have to find a way to get through a swamp which was quite the adventure lol. We managed to get through the swamp without any major mishaps. By the time we got to the field they were gone but we did hear a Jake gobble a few times but never ended up seeing him. We came home empty handed but we had quite the swamp adventure and had fun along the way so we had a good morning with some excitement. We’re going to set up in that field in the morning and see what happens. With the weather warming I’m thinking tomorrow might be our last chance to get one before they hen up and as you fellow turkey hunters know once they hen up it gets pretty difficult. We shall see.
  10. Welcome to Bassresource!
  11. That’s a pretty cool picture.

How do you find the time to work, spend time with your family, go fishing, and still be logged onto the website and patrol all the posts? I’m pretty fortunate that my son and wife both like to fish. Friday nights the wife and I have ‘date night’ on the boat and Saturday and/or Sunday my son and I go fishing. My son and I also hunt for deer and turkey. I check the forums from time to time throughout the day and I’m on regularly at night. 2. What is your fishing background/experience? My first memory of fishing is with my Grandpa at my aunt’s house for panfish. My stepdad is a walleye angler so I grew up fishing walleye in northern Michigan and we eventually bought land on Big bay de noc so we fished that frequently throughout the year. I got into bass fishing with my friends in my mid teens and never looked back. 3. What have been your best experiences when fishing? Watching my wife get excited when a big bass gulps her Senko and watching my son evolve into an angler over the years. 4. Give us a play by play of a typical, lets say, Tuesday for you? What time do you get up? Work? Fishing? Family? How do you relax at the end of a long day at work? I get up at 5, get my son up at 5:30, I’m at work and in a meeting by 7, out in the field by 8:30-9, doing paperwork by 4, out at 5, home by 6, cooking dinner, and usually relaxing and in bed by 8:30-9. Now do the same for a Saturday? Mid April until the end of May my son and I are up at 5 and chasing turkeys then fishing. Saturday nights are family night so we cook dinner and spend time together. In the winter we’re in hibernation mode. 5. What experience do you have fishing elsewhere other than home areas? Growing up we walleye fished so we’d fish Black lake in northern Michigan, Big bay de noc in the UP, Saginaw bay, and Tittabawassee river 6. Is it still as much fun for you as it was in the beginning of your tenors? It absolutely is but on a different level. I like figuring things out and working my brain so putting the pieces of the puzzle together on the technical side of fishing is what I like doing now. 7. Do you guys get free stuff? Lures, line, rods, reels, etc...? Sometimes sponsors will send us lures to try out, review, or give feedback. 8. What part of being a Mod here do each of you enjoy most and least? Most: Helping fellow anglers out. I enjoyed that before becoming a moderator. I also like keeping this site the great place that it is. Least: Nothing yet 9. What is your favorite besides bass? I really don’t fish for anything other than bass. I would like to tie into a giant pike or muskey one of these days. 10. Do you guys rotate as to who needs to be on line at any given time? Or does everyone just look in whenever they get time. We’re all just like everyone else on here, we enjoy fishing and this site so we’re all on here throughout the day checking things out, reading, learning, and sometimes helping others. Fav hobbies other than fishing: Hunting turkey and deer People you respect and/or admire: 1: My dad 2: My wife 3: Anyone in the military, law enforcement, and first responders Turn ons: Sunrise on the lake or in the woods, Turn offs: Rude and self centered people Aspirations: To be the best husband and father I can be and to help my son to be as successful in life as possible. Essay: What are some of the major factors that have affected your life. A brief history to help us understand the road you traveled to become the person you are today. Please include influences. I grew up in small town USA almost like Mayberry and I still live in a small town. I’ve never lived more than 20 miles from the town I grew up in. My dad has been the biggest influence in my life. He’s always been a hard worker which is where I got my hard work ethic from. He was and still is always there for anything. My stepdad was the one who got me into hunting and fishing and for that I’ll be forever grateful. The major event in my life that changed me forever was at age 19 I was diagnosed with stage four cancer. After battling that and starting over I decided life was too short to sweat the small stuff and too short to waste it away. A few years later I married my wife, five years after that we had our son, and our little family was complete. Stress is short lived and bad days are almost nonexistent. Life is good! That’s me in a nutshell.
  13. Nah I never would’ve done that. A not so friendly visit from Boris and Sergi assured @A-Jay I would stay quiet. There’s a reason you’ve never seen those two gigantic men show up on his videos. ?
  14. Last Saturday was our first good weather day and as luck would have it I couldn’t get 6poundbass bass out of bed and of course the land owner texted me saying he heard a bunch of birds gobbling. Sunday was crap and didn’t see or hear a thing. Tomorrow is going to be perfect so I’m hoping the trees will be littered with thunder chickens making all kinds of noise!
  15. I’m Irish so it’s a part of my DNA. ?
  16. Those are rejection scars and they are on my soul. ?
  17. I know they’re all special but it seems like Fenway was a little extra special for you. So sorry for you both….and the pack. I imagine they feel the loss too.
  18. What about those muffs that magnify the sound but cut out when there’s a gun shot?
  19. You learn something new everyday. Loons can’t walk.
  20. Oh I’m sure I have tinnitus. The ringing never stops. The only time it really drives me nuts is when it quiet. I know I have some hearing loss too. For example, if I’m in a crowded area and there’s background noise I can barely hear what people are saying to me. On the flip side, there are times I can hear things that my wife, son, and even the dogs can’t like the faint sound of a vehicle pulling into our driveway.
  21. I’ve never really been a pessimist but I wasn’t an optimist either. Things used to stress me out, drag me down, and get the best of me. Battling cancer at age 19 changed all that. Life’s too short to let things bring you down. Yes I still get stressed from time to time but it’s short lived and never ruins a day.
  22. I was just talking with the land owner who’s land I’m hunting. He was telling me about his last couple seasons, here today gone tomorrow, hear them in the roost, then go silent once they hit the ground. I ended our conversation with, “turkeys are dumb….until turkey season.”
