  1. If you're wanting to stick with a monofilament line Sufix Advance is advertised as being more sensitive due to lower stretch.
  2. I'm assuming that being two piece your rod is JDM. You're likely out of luck.
  3. And I especially like that baitcaster. (mid 80's Shimano?)
  4. I envy you. What you described is the foundation of my love of fishing. I spent many days wading my local streams until the last couple of years. Knee and ankle issues have slowed me way down. My favorite technique was throwing a small (1/8) buzzbait during low water. The strikes were vicious. Glad you rediscovered how fun stream fishing can be.
  5. Sounds like something the inshore guys would say to poke fun at bass anglers.
  6. That's a great setup for spinning but too skinny for bc, especially someone new at it.
  7. Worked out of a couple of Dodge Aspen s/wagons in the 70's and 80's. 225 slant 6 was bulletproof, the cars not so much. They were very attractive to road termites.
  8. I'm back to painting 3-4 days a week where I'm not close to people. At home I mow every 4-5 days and contemplate all the chores I could be getting done. But I get over it and get back to fishing most days.
  9. Just a tip. When responding an op's old post it's a good idea to check for recent activity. Your friendly greeting will probably never be seen.
  10. FWIW that cool green becomes a washed out chartreuse in no time anyhow.
  11. Newer stuff is lighter and palms better but sometimes it's fun just to take them out for a spin.
  12. Kinda cringe seeing those Shimanos sittin' in a shoebox. Classics like a '57 Chevy.
  13. I don't fish mono much anymore but my favorite is the Trilene knot. Supposed to be a high strength %.
  14. I'm checking the state regs on minimum length for musky. You never know. lol
  15. Funniest sight fishing incident happened last summer. A duck swimming near the bank got startled and jumped out of the water. A quick flip to the spot nailed me a three pounder that had been playing footsie.
  16. I've hit the pause button on my painting business for a few weeks. People still want me in their house but I'm erring on the side of caution till the curve gets heading in the right direction. Our stay at home order still allows me to work if I want to. That said I'm fishing pretty much daily. The bite's been good even with a chilly snap last week. I'm getting lots of walking and social distancing pond hopping. Caught a couple of good ones along with a bunch of others yesterday. This was my best.
  17. I'm sold on the triple grips (KVD Elites, not the standard). I crush the barbs on mine and they seem to hold just fine.
  18. You're one who really understands this stuff. Don't you just shake your head when this guy keeps complaining that his lure is going left. A near empty spool tends to cause that. He should check his IPT also. Maybe 12-14" lol.
  19. I looked at a lot of nets. I'm fishing on foot and walking a lot. Nets are cumbersome and little trout nets really aren't adequate.
  20. I did an unscientific test with some VMC crankbait snaps. They open up way under their stated strength. I still use them but keep that in mind when I'm deadlifting a fish by the line. (I have a knee issue that makes it difficult to crouch and lip a fish). Fish over 4 lbs. get lipped even though it hurts.
  21. Nobody's gonna mention the Blues Brothers when they had hits like Rubber Biscuit?
  22. I'm fortunate in that I walk HOA lakes. In the past month I've seen maybe a total of five people fishing and they were residents just a stone's throw from their house. This past weekend I enjoyed some of the best action so far catching at least 75-80 with several over 3lb. and one 5.37. We all want this pandemic to go away but at least I'm able to immerse myself in what I love (besides my wife lol).
  23. Bought an Ambassadeur 2500C back in the mid 70's. Really didn't appreciate how fine a reel it was at the time and never mastered it. Think I sold it at a pawn shop.
  24. @Bluebasser86it's really nice that your whole family enjoys fishing together. Makes for a real good way to divert attention from the current situation. I like to tell people that I'm obeying our governor's directive by going fishing as much as I can. I call it my "mandatory fishing furlough".
