6’10” ML vs 7’1” M?
Looking at a new Muse Black Spinning Rod in either 6’10” ML or 7’1” M. I have handled the former and it felt overrated power wise. I also have a Muse Gold 7’2” ML that I love. I like to fish with baitcasters when I can, but I love using spinning gear for ease of use and find myself doing finesse fishing most of the time. here are my current spinning setups: 7’2” ML Muse Gold 3000 Shimano Stradic Ci4+ FA 10 lb braid/6-8 lb floro 7’ M Cabela’s Tournament ZX 2500 Cabela’s Tournament ZX 15 lb braid/8-10 lb floro 6’10 M Lew’s Speed Stick 3500 Okuma Stratus V 20 lb braid/12 lb floro ? Muse Black first combo is my go to finesse rod for small keitech easy shiners, Drop Shot, Split Shot Rig, tiny cranks. And thing where I need to cast light baits, reel smoothly, or feel the small bites next is somewhat a beater setup, it’s somewhat sensitive and I use it for open water wacky rigs, weighted keitech fats, Neko rigging, and shakey heads second to last is my dock beater, use tubes and flukes and wacky rigs only when I’m skipping socks and don’t mind beating this rod up bc it’s durable. last setup has to be a muse black bc I already bought the 6’10” but I may exchange it for a 7’1” to take over the techniques I use the Tournament zX and have it as a backup. I fish a lot of light baits, but I’d rather have one nice finesse rod and one nice “heavier” finesse rod than two light ones. I may add a second light finesse eventually though. Want to put a Stradic bc I love my current one but I’m not certain yet. i am asking if I should exchange the 6’10” for a 7’1” when it gets here?

7' Ultralight too flimsy?
Well after some thought and your advice, I will keep the rods. Caught on trout on a spinner and one on a drop shot weight lol!

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Added 5 new falcon bucoo sr's to the lineup, all on sale at tackle direct for 50% off. got there 7' ul and two 5'6" ul, but they have a moderate action an no backbone at all, leading to a very light and sensitive, yet whippy feel; therefore, they will be going back before I change my mind. https://www.tackledirect.com/falcon-brs-1l-17-bucoo-sr-ultralight-spinning-rod.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAh9njBRCYARIsALJhQkF4echSXbLbliLnOnKNXC8X7ApF6MFQVrIYpS_s2YNb3Q-prkWuLJ0aAtCUEALw_wcB

V Hull Stability
you mean having the fishing chair in the middle on the back bench, with an extra deck plate (thing in your link) on the side for motoring around? if so thats a great idea and is what I am/was planning on doing. my boat has foam inside the fairly flimsy benches. they also provide internal structure, to prevent the boat from collapsing like a can.

Best all around line
good point, and im not trying to disagree with you in any way. we likely fish completely different water bodies, and are each subject to our own opinions. When I started out I had one spinning g combo with ten lb braid. like you said, I wa able to frog fish, albeit not as well as I do now that I have specialized gear, and get the job done. I too would use 8-10 lb mono if I could have one rod, and 30 lb braid if I got a casting!

Negotiating Rod Price?
You make a good point, I don't frequent the store too often, but when I do, I talk to all the staff and buy some stuff. I just had them repair a rod, so when I go back ill ask, worst they can say is no, like you said.

Negotiating Rod Price?

St. Croix Avid "x" 6'-4" Mxf
sorry to revive an old thread, but I've had my eye on this rod for three years. Want to throw mainly jerk baits, but the occasional popper, and casting a small swim jig, chatterbait or spinnerbait to a dock here and there. Gonna pair it up with a scorpion 71 and 10 lb yozuri. thoughts?

Negotiating Rod Price?
have had my eye on a 6'4" M St Croix Avid X in a particular tackle shop for about three years now. same rod has been sitting there this whole time. It was once on sale for $160, but is now at full price. If I asked them to lower the price to $150 because I noticed it has been sitting there for about three years will they likely accept? I can't find this rod online, but will keep looking....

Best all around line
I started with 30 for frogging, and now use 50, as I am in pa, not catching master bass. never had problems with 30, just feel safer with 50.

Best all around line
3o lb braid, small enough for finesse if you really needed it to be, and strong enough for frogging, if you need it to be. Have used it for both techniques and have caught fish.

7' Ultralight too flimsy?
yes that is what I am asking, didn't get to test the rod out because lakes are frozen and rivers are flooded. im gonna return the rods

7' Ultralight too flimsy?
I just bought three 7' ul falcon bucoo sr rods and they seem very whippy. they will be used for powerboat fishing trout in a boat and from the shore. will be using no more than a 1/4 oz of weight. this is the max it is recommended for. is the long rod with an ultralight power and moderate action a bad idea?

2 Piece Rod Question
I will have my friends try it and if they can't tell, we can assume its a subconscious bias due to the fact that I disliked the reel I had on it when I got it, and misinformation about two piece rods.

2 Piece Rod Question
I bought two 7'3" MH Omen Black IIs about 2 years ago. Loved both rods. Used one for Texas rigs, and the other for dragging jigs. Long story short, one of the rods broke, and I got a 7'1" MH as a replacement because it was all they had, and I had a tournament the next week, so shipping wasn't an option. I didn't realize that the rod was a 2 piece until I was home. I started to fish the rod with a Shimano Casitas with 12 lb invisx, and I hated the combo for small chatterbaits. I am wondering if the onepiece version is better, or if my dislike of the Casitas impacted my opinion of the Omen? it functions well with a different reel, but I can tell if its worth keeping or not. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-13FISHRODS.html?from=basres ^ rod I'm using btw
