Choosing a new rod
734 fury or the 7'4 or 7' heavy falcon are great rods for jigs.

I used to work for a utility company, now I build toyota minivans and suv's. I would love to go back to fixing water leaks amd running our old back hoe. But $7.75 an hour doesnt cut it.

Baitcasting Reel Backing Line: Braid Or Mono ?
Any old mono, fluoro, or copoly is what i use for backing.

Casting distance
Never have measured how far I can cast. Far enough though. I worry more about accuracy as I'm more of a shallow water, close quarters fisherman.

Frog Lure Confusion
For all around frogs it is hard to beat the booyah pad crasher. Both the regular and popping versions. I also like the jackall kaera frog for pressured areas or when they want a smaller more compact bait. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the spro king daddy is a giant frog that can get some giant blow ups. Its big and heavy and works well in heavy mats. Spro bronzeye is another solid frog. I only throw 3 colors of frogs. Black, natural, and white. And i only care about what color the belly is not the top. The fish isnt going to be looking at the top of the frog anyways. And dont forget to pick up some toads and some plopping style frogs with the swimbait tail attatched.

Harvest Photos
Here is MAGS. The estimated 10-11 year old giant that has been fooling hunters around me for the last decade. Unfortunately someone hit him with their car. Below is a shed from 5-6 years ago. I seen him that year and nearly put my truck in a ditch because I couldnt take my eyes off of him. I couldn't imagine what he looked like just a few days ago. The IDNR scored him at 214"

I will second what @ww2farmer had to say about the fury and fuego combo. The 735 is my frogging combo as well.

Carbonlite 2.0 or falcon bucoo?
A few days ago they had the 7'4 heavy on ebay for 70 bucks btw. Not sure if its still up or not

Carbonlite 2.0 or falcon bucoo?
I used a 7'4 heavy buccoo sr for awhile for heavy shakey heads, and jigs up to 1/2 ounce. Also Carolina rigs up to 3/4 ounce. One of the most sensitive rods in the $100 range.

Dobyns Fury?
I have 2 735's. One for frogs and buzzbaits the other for pitching 3/4 ounce jigs.

Your Ideal Football Jig Rod ?
For 3/8 and 1/2 I like a falcon 7'4 jig special. For 3/4 andd 1 ounce I like my 735 dobyms fury. 15 or 17lb sunline assassin
-
Never used fluoro - need a recommendation
sunline assassin for me. 10lb for 3xd. 15 for chatter and spinnerbaits

Do you fish jigs with spinning gear?

Moving baits for winter ? Soft plastics? I’m confused ??♂️
Drop shot and shakey head small worm or craw.

Small/Medium Swimbait Rod
Yes its thick. But I'd want a 200 size or bigger casting reel for swimbaits anyway.
-
Small/Medium Swimbait Rod
Depending in the length of rod desired you could try a 8' heavy daiwa fuego. Can be found under 70 dollars on ebay and Wal-Mart.com. or maybe even a muskie rod from bass pro or cabelas. When/if I start throwing big baits it will be on 20lb p-line cxx or 20lb big game. I dont see any advantage in fluorocarbon when fishing big baits. You'll get much better abrasion resistance, knot strength, amd shock strength in the 2 lines I mentioned than most fluoros imo.

Harvest Photos
Hes 15 months now, I doubt I will be out this year, but hopefully will be ready for turkey hunting with my bow this spring. Heres the two bigger ones. 172 ish and 164ish if I remember correctly. Also I attatched a pic of my first turkey also taken with a bow at around 11 yards.

Harvest Photos
The last deer I harvested before my son was born and hunting was put on the back burner. I shot him at 45 yards in a clover patch, with my bow. He made a scrape at 15 yards and didnt turn broadside until 45 yards out. Perfect heart shot. Of course he ran straight down hill 60 yards. Tough drag back up the spoil bank. He scored 146 2/8 inches. The third biggest buck taken off my grandpas property so far. He is mounted above my tv, staring me in the face as I type this lol

Best baitcast reel under $70
Fuego ct.

Absolute deepest diving crankbait you’ve used and can confirm depth?
I have found that throwing cranks on a braid like suffix 832 has achieved the most diving depth due to line diameter. I've hit 24 feet with a 10xd on 832 with a 5.4 ratio reel

Hook keeper
Drill a 1/4 inch hole through the trigger of your reel seat and hook your bait in there. That what lews uses as hook keepers now.
