  1. 5/16 sniper jig, all black wire tied with a black blue 3" pit poss is deadly!
  2. Seaguar red label works well as a leader. But mono or copoly will work nearly the same for cheap. 8lb Berkley big game would suit you well.
  3. Use them, cant gain confidence in something if you don't put it to work. Cant make free throws if you never practice. Can't kick field goals if you never try. Cant score high on a test if you dont study..
  4. Medium I use for finesse-y type lures without open hooks (texas rigged drop shot, light jigs, etc) medium light for open hook presentations (wacky rig, open hook drop shot, neko rig)
  5. Sieberts and terminator are all I use.
  6. Boomerang for me. Works awesome
  7. Buy 2 fuego cts for that price!
  8. 63° and thunderstorming down here in the southern part of the state. Which is keeping ice off the lakes and ponds. Our first trip is planned for the 3rd week of February. Turtle creek in Merom
  9. I use either a dobyns 735 fury or a daiwa fuego heavy 8' both pitch 3/4 ounce weights amd jigs well. Havent fished them yet just pitched around the yard. The 735 is more versatile and a better rod, but you can find the daiwa for 1/2 the price. Another viable option is the Berkley lighting shock rod 7'6 heavy.
  10. Early pre-spawn I will cast it out along structure (road beds, drops, points, humps) and retrieve it just fast enough where the blades turn but can still remain in contact with the bottom. The closer we get to spawn the shallower and faster I will go with spinnerbaits. Tossing them around wood or grasslines has produced well for me in the past. I always use a 3.5-5 inch trailer and prefer silver or white double willow. 1/2 ounce.
  11. Spinnerbait, jig, jerkbaits. I like throwing the first 2 near wood or deep structure. Havent had a lot of experience with a jerkbaits but the few iltrips ive thrown them the results have been good.
  12. Have a 5 day weekend from the 11th to the 15th of April. Wife says I need to take a 2 day trip somewhere. North end of kentucky lake is only 2.5 hrs away. Am I worng in thinking that the fish should be moved up and close if not starting to spawn. Thinking a lot of spinnerbait, chatterbaits, jigs, flipping baits. If so I would like to go down there if you think it will be more of a cranking or off shore type of bite I don't think I would enjoy it as much and may look into other lakes. Just lookingbfor advice/info. We will be in a 21ft stratos with a 225 so mobility throughout the lake isnt a problem.
  13. My weak point is fishing lippes crankbaits. We have a lot of grass in our lakes and pits so its tough to throw a crank and get it to dig without 10lbs of salad. Strong point would be fishing wood. Wether its a deep brush pile or shallow standing timber I feel that if there is a catchable bass aitting on it I can catch it.
  14. We are makong buffalo chicken dip, and then tortilla roll ups filled with cream cheese, ranch powder and real bacon bits. Not sure what the other 2 families are bringing
  15. You would be better off just buying the new falcon cara that just came out. They are only $129
  16. Love terminator pro series jigs. Good weedguard, hook, and bait keeper. Fan that you can remove the rattle if needed. Blue olive own my favorite color
  17. Havoc 5" pit boss is my go to when I want bulk on the back of a jig. Usually bite the first 1/2" off so it is square up top and makes the skirt flare more. Looks good on the back of an enraged series jig.
  18. I plan on dippong my toes into big swimbaits this year. I have been researching cheap rods to start out with. I plan on buying a bps Muskie rod.
  19. Fairly similar to both the setups I listed. Awesome
  20. Id be throwing flukes and senko style baits on 20lb dark green braid if all I had was 1 rod and reel.
  21. Pitching jigs and texas rigs in coveris my favorite way to catch fish. Mostly stick to 1/4 up to 1/2 weights in both jigs and texas rigs. Picked up some 3/4 ounce weights and jigs and curious about what you guys are using. I think I will probably use my 735 fury with 18-22lb fluoro or my 8' heavy daiwa fuego with 50lb braid or 22lb fluoro.
  22. Those look great and gave me a good idea. My 10 year old daughter is very artistic, I may find some and let her paint them up for me
  23. Daiwa j-braid x4 is a really nice cheap braid. If you want to go super cheap kastking makes an ok braid for not a lot of money. Ebay is the best place to get both of them.
  24. We are around -5 wind chill right now in the southwestern tip of Indiana. By 9 this morning its supposed to be about -10. Monday its supposed to be 62
  25. Same here, squarebills are thrown on a 6'6 medium heavy with 14-17 mono or fluoro, similar to what id skip a senko with
