  1. Im reassessing my river smallie tackle system for 22. What are your guys’ favorite chunk trailers for smallies. Are they diff for finnesse cut/ full cut? Different sizes. My thing is i want to stay compact in my presentation. Not that they wont bite a bigger package and i feel that chunks are good for that.
  2. I started using those late this past year as well. They have some nice body roll. Actually work well as a swim jig trailer. Didnt catch much on them but i think that will change in ‘22
  3. Ive been playing with this and ive found this krylon glitter blast paint puts on a similar finish. Super easy to hit a few plane silver blades with it. I dont know if i have any blades ive sprayed it on but ive hit some jig heAds with it.
  4. Ok, I know what you are talking bout now. ? my Grandma always had a bunch of these in her sewing kit.
  5. Look good. What are the eyes made of
  6. Exact same pattern, same jig. One has a collar one doesnt. Very different profiles
  7. A few things canaffect this. First what part of tail are you using. The tip will be more thin and wispy whereas the base is thicker and more hollow. The base flairs much more. Second is thread pressure, the more you sinch down, the more flair you will create. Third is collar styyle. Jigs that have the ring in the base will cause more flair than ones that do not. Perfect example for me is the poisontail mold. I have taken to smashing down the ring on the collar. Ultimately though, the best way to elominate flair is to remove tve collar. Tie on bare shank. This really gives the best thin, minnowish profile. I like flair for craw profiles where i could add a trailer.
  8. She looks thrilled lol
  9. If i can use a baitcaster for an application, i will use a baitcaster, so pretty much anything 3/16 and up. That being said, if i am wading and only have one rod and not set on fishing heavier baits, ill use my m-f spinning setup.
  10. Ive always wondered about this myself. If your equipment is right….? Idk. But then again im fishing northern strain, but even the bigger northern ive gotten into, i put a ton of pressure on those and havent had issues.
  11. Ive been pouring ec lil nastys for my lightwire jigs and i have broken a few of those after nending them out a couple times from snags. Using 10lb braid. But im fishing in some very, very rocky areas
  12. Rivers are finally iced over and most likely wont be fishable for a couple months. I’m already thinking iceout for smallie and walleye!
  13. .029 or .032. Same wire i build normal sb frames from. Y use round bend plyers. Hook snap i build like a normal beetle spin, but i stick with an “R” bend line tie.
  14. Definitely. Underspin was a new addition this year and i had some success. Although, never count out the old fashioned beetlespin style spinner. I started rolling my own this year with heavier wire and larger blades and pairing them with swimbaits. I had some really good success with these.
  15. Well, if you are me you just skin your kids lassie stuffed animal. The length on this stuff is great. Lassie didnt go to waste
  16. Not sure it counts because i didnt land it, but my biggest by far this year was on a homemade 3/8oz spinnerbait with chartruse blades and a chart/white skirt, definitely would of been pushing 20in but he threw the hook at the bank. ??
  17. A few new jigs. Finding the right matching trailer is half the fun.
  18. Its trial and error really. Also, circumstances dictate alot regarding trailer selection. Thats honestly a really fun part of jig fishing, playing with trailer and jig combos.
  19. Great post smalljaw. Ive been wondering if there is a teflon or other plastic material out there that would work. Currently I just buy 5/64in drill bits for mine works alright but kind of a pain when powder painting because the paint obviously stick to the drill bit. It works and you can scrape the paint off but its not that efficient
  20. They have some but is extremely short and not going to be of much benefit
  21. Means craft fur. Cabeles and basspro as well as borlows, lure parts online all carry it. I would definitely want to know the quality of the product on that one just because its going to be important the craft fur is long for that pattern
  22. This is what i do. Also helps with drying them out
  23. How close to the bottom you want the jerkbait
  24. The craft foam in some 3500 and 3600 tach kle boxes works the best for me.
  25. this is the first time ive ever really tryed fishing sub 45degree water this year. Actually Rock River South of Rockford. Walleye guys are always up by the dam, but Ive been catching some nice ones here. Little pressure up this wY. Biggest issue I see is the water levels are really down so very likely they are really spread out due to lack of current. Bonus is I would expect big walleye to be sitting here. PM me.
