Hey squarebill guys and gals...
Earlier this year I saw a snagged bait in the top of a tree branch in about 8-10 feet of water (no depth finder on) I tried to reach it by using my 7 foot rod but just grabbed some line. The line was attached to the crankbait and after a few pulls it comes out and promptly gets eaten by a smallie about 12 inches in size So for that 6th sense deep diver I didn't even have it tied to my rod and caught a fish with it!! I have a few black crankbaits that absolutely deliver especially when there is pressure Well they kinda let the cat out of the bag by offering it in some of their cranks. I fish a lot of cranks fall-->late winter and I'm a grinder Reel them to the bottom and then grind them as slow as you can over every rock (too slow and you'll get hung, too fast and you're missing bottom contact) The 6th sense baits hold up to the grind and I like the stock hooks as well

24v vs 36v
I have a 16 foot crestliner with a 25hp and run a 101 maxxum on it Having the power when you need it outweighed the extra weight issue for me It's a 25 hp so never was gonna go fast to begin with I used to fish trolling motor only tournaments and the 101 ran faster than the 80 even with the extra battery I never drained the batteries since I began running the 101 but on multiple occasions killed the 24V batteries ending my day prematurely. Never once have I wanted a smaller TM

Southern vs Northern lures.
Never really saw the float and fly before moving to TN It's a staple when the water is cold and I have seen guys have success with it in the dog days of summer (When I fish it my chances of hooking up are automatically reduced as now 50% of the time I have a chance of falling asleep)

Feeling melincholy
Tom- I just wanted to point out how grateful and appreciative I(we) am/(are) of your sharing the knowledge you have gathered. This influence has affected my approach to fishing. (when I was heavy into tourney fishing finding the basses rhythm from the cosmic clock really struck home with me) Which has now been passed on to my son. Much like the gear that you have just sold, that knowledge will help in creating memories for many families for many years to come. Thank you

We all start somewhere.
Got spanked by a guy in a tourney once and he was in the middle of the lake dragging a carolina rig with about a 5 foot leader and a red and white lazy ike as the bait

When to shut it down for the year?
I am fortunate enough to live in a place where I can fish year round. I dont fish the rain Nov-Feb or when the winds get high like I would in other seasons. I spend a lot more time idling around looking at my sonar too. I tend to lolly gag around in the morning when its colder and dont always make it to the ramp right at sunup.

Does anyone else exclusively target smallmouth?
Location is important here. I live near Norris Lake, it is made up of 2 rivers that come together and are dammed the Powell and the Clinch rivers. The small mouth fishing is great but most all of the time it is in water deeper than 12 feet. I never saw the study that showed most smallmouth fisherman fish rivers, so that might be a reach. When I lived in NE Ohio for every guy that was fishing for smallies in any of the rivers up there; there were 10 times that many chasing smallies on lake Erie.

BASS elite at chickamauga
I never really saw schools of shad until I moved to TN. It's impossible to explain how many shad there are and how big some of the schools are. I was in the back of a cove one year and the last 100 yds of the channel every sq inch of the surface was covered with 3/4 inch shad. I'd toss my toad and they'd act like asian carp jumping all around the whole retrieve. I threw everything, tried every trick, tried all types of baits with no results. (every cast with a treble hook bait came back with shad stuck to the hook points) Actually, my best luck is targeting the points/breaks of the channels outside of where the shad are. I cant compete with the 999 trillion shad so I'll try and pick off the ones coming to the buffett or looking for a little dessert after they have left the gorge fest

It is my mentality that even if someone else showed up on my spot ... I'd still outfish them. Since gps became standard so has the process of marking other peoples spots Used to be people would wait until after you left the spot then they'd go over and mark it Now they'll just pull right up on you, ask how its going, mark the spot and leave- The Road To The Super Bowl 2021
Seems like the Browns turned things around the next few games. although they tried giving away each of their wins. They also play the ravens and the steelers twice and their 1st go around with Baltimore said a lot Baker has a big mouth but he's not lazy So he'll always have that over johnny football. Saw this the other day comparing Baker, Farve and Drew Brees their first 34 starts into their careers He's got a long way to go to have a career like theirs but he's on pace so far- Favorite walking bait
