Dobyns rods was sold!
The two rod companies that make up 95 percent of my gear are GLoomis and Dobyns. I don’t think selling the company will destroy the brand. I feel confident it will be a good situation considering what we know about the circumstances. Champions are badass rods.

I got a few fish this year in the low 50s water temp on a buzzbait. Earliest I’ve caught them on top. Not sure why o even threw it, just seemed right.

Braid to leader questions
There are lots of advantages to using braid to leader. The only times I don't use braid to leader are when frogging/toads, swim jigs in heavy weeds (both straight braid), and occasionally starting last year with chatterbaits, I've been trying straight mono or FC with Cb and it's seems ok so far. I even prefer braid to a leader for crankbaits and jerk baits, maybe because my one crank rod is a Dobyns Champion 704 which bends really deep. I tried straight FC at first but couldn't get a good hooksets, changed to b to a leader and it fixed my problem. If you have the FG down there's no reason to not do it!

Braid on finesse bait caster?
8lb power pro is my all time favorite BFS line. It’s crazy thin, and really strong.

Dobyns DX784C - For frogging?
I’d go champion 705, 735, or 736 depending on what cover you’re frogging. I love the 705 for moderate short range frogging. Easy on the wrist.

Leader knots small line
I’m all FG down to 8lb braid to 6 and 8lb FC, then I switch to an Alberto. I find that when I am using such fine line I don’t need the thinness nor strength needed with bigger lines. An Alberto with 8lb PP is crazy thin. Sometimes the FG can be tricky with something ch thin line as 8lb braid.

8In Manns Jelly Worm
In summer the purple 8” Jelly Worm with a 3/16 bullet weight kills for me. It’s m favorite size, with the 6” just behind it.

Understanding g loomis models
I find their site is the worst with rods. Especially with Loomis and Megabits rods. A lot of models they don't include the model number with Loomis, even when you click to get the specifics, and with Megabass they don't include the name. It's so annoying It's like any other rod. They are all fast action in different power, light, medium, medium heavy.....and some come in different lengths. What don't you get. The SJR are fast action and the JWR rods are extra fast. ALL Loomis rods are the first two numbers are the length in inches and the third number is the power. 842 SJR is a fast action-7' (84") 2 power rod (medium power)

7:5:1 Gear Ratio for all around?
For me 30” ipt which with Daiwa and Shimano reels is usually their 7speed reels. That’s what I consider a good all around bass fishing ratio.

My favorite swimjig rod is a Loomis IMX pro 844 mbr.

Kistler Rod Pricing?
They are annoying to me. You're confused because it's confusing. They change the blanks regularly these days, but don't say where or who makes them. The prices at the "normal" price seems to mean nothing. They just put their rods on sale often, and for no reason.

Daiwa Steez A II Factory-Set Spool Tension is Bogus?
I don't think that would have any effect on the spool movement.

Daiwa Steez A II Factory-Set Spool Tension is Bogus?
Daiwa reels do not get adjusted like other reels. The bait should drop completely unrestricted. I have 4 Steez reels and all of them have a touch of left to right spool movement, and can be set to 4,5,6 (in strong wind I might go up to 7-8)without any backlash. If you have two that are acting the same, it is probably something you are doing.

BFS Jerkbait Rod?
I had the Cashion 6'10" ML rod, but felt it was clunky and weird feeling. I have never fished the 7' L Cashion.

BFS Jerkbait Rod?
I throw the Karashi, poppers, jerk baits ( Rapala X rap, husky jerk small sizes, and minnow baits (Rebel broke back) on a Phenix Feather ML, and it's a perfect match.
