  1. Sounds like dry bearings to me. The easiest fix there is.
  2. I use 30lb braid on almost all my casting reels except for my frog setup. It’s been my favorite do all size, just changing the leader strength out per application. I agree with CrankFate tho, a lot of worry I had was because everyone seems to say it’s always a problem going below 30lb braid, that is until it tried 15lb. I think I will stick with 30lb on everything else, except for this specialty setup for right now. It’s so much fun to use though, I shall see. I didn’t realize so many people used 20lb braid in the regular.
  3. 4th outing with this rig, and I am convinced about this setup. Rod is a Kuying Conqueror 6'8" ml, reel Curado 70, line Power Pro 15lb Super Slick, and the lure a 3/16oz underspin with 3.5" Cabelas Swimbait. The first outing I had an 1/8oz ball head jig with a 2.5" swimbait, and it casted it well. I have about 30 fish caught on this rig so far, and I have had zero issues with the light line. I had it laying around, and threw it on to cast light stuff, and I am sold on it now. The whole set up is just at 10oz total with line. Hook sets are fun with this setup, and I have hooked up with some 3lbers at the top end. Anyone who wants a super light rig this is it. No binding/digging in with the line, even when pulling to get snags loose.
  4. I only use braid to leader, and I have 6 Tatulas with the T wing. All you have to do is make you leader length so it doesn't enter the reel and you wont have an issue. Why would you need more than a 6' shock leader? My 2 cents.
  5. If you are changing the line, rod, and reel and it keeps happening it's where you are casting or you, not the gear.
  6. How is that causing it? OP states it's all along the line.
  7. I bought one over the winter and have had it out 3 times now. It's a fantastic rod, and is very versatile. I use it for 3.5" belly weighted underspin swimbaits with around 3/16oz weighted hook, light finesse jigs, 1.5 square bills, and shakey heads. It keeps fish pinned really well too. I got it to replace my medium action spinning rod (in some circumstances), and it has done that perfectly. I think it would be a little heavy for ned rigs, but I'm traditional with my neds. I use 1/16/ 3/32, and 1/8 as my heaviest, and the 702c would be too heavy for my application of it. It's a great rod , and I will get another someday. I have a Tatula SV TWS on it, and it's perfectly balanced and a super light rig.
  8. Just what I wrote above. Keep the braid taught and wrap the leader tight but don't strangle it on there. Pinch it after 20 total wraps, as you do the two half hitches, then pull tight before you cut the tags. I watched the Salt Strong video as my reference, it was helpful.
  9. It's funny how some people can get some knots, and others get other knots that just seem to come easy to them. Trying out knots is a kind of fun thing for me to explore. I remember some fluoro knots drove me nuts for a while, until they clicked on how to tie them properly. I feel like the thing that people don't do when tying the FG is to keep the braid very taught while wraping the leader around it. It makes for perfect over/under line lay, which makes the knot very straight and small. I tie 30lb braid to 15" of 30lb fluoro when the pike are around, and the knot will fly through semi micro guides very easily. When properly tied it's a very small knot.
  10. That's a nice photo of a well tied knot. I use the FG knot for all my leaders, and I never mind retying it on the water. If it needs to be done I tie it. It takes about 1 min for me to do it. The blood knots I tried with braid to leader never came out as small and even as your photo. I use some small diameter lines like 8lb PP braid to 6-8lb fluoro, and for those small lines I love the FG.
  11. I used to own that exact rod. I don't see any issue with 20lb SS V2. Try it out, if you don't like it you can put it on a spinning reel.
  12. You know that's what I thought would happen, but as of now, no issues at all. I have been a PP original user forever, and this V2 doesn't flatten out, so I haven't had any problems. I haven't caught any bass over 2.5lbs yet. I have it on a Curado 70, on a Kuying ML 6'8" rod, it's a crazy light , sensitive, and perfectly balanced setup. I can throw down to an 1/8oz jig head with 3" swimbait pretty well. 3/16oz head with soft bait is easy to cast. It's a great shakey head setup with this light braid.
  13. Yellow Power Pro original in sizes 8, 10, 15, and 30lb. it works great for me in every situation. I just tried 15lb Super Slick V2 on a light casting setup and it’s fantastic too.
  14. That’s golden ticket! You won!
  15. In general I would say St Croix rods up to legend tournament series will be heavier than Dobyns and more tip heavy. I don’t have experience with St Croix above LTB. I have had both companies rods from premier- legend and Dobyns from Fury-champion, and that what I personally have experienced.
  16. I wish he would come back. Some posts are almost incoherent.
  17. I missed this. What went down?
  18. It's a good way to use old torn up baits.
  19. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F191822198190 ive been using this square bill for years. It has a great action and catches tons of fish. The only issue it has is it comes with junky hooks. At under $1.50 ea for a pretty high quality lure it’s a bargain. If you want get something new but don’t want to spend a lot of dough give it a shot.
  20. All of the MH Legend Tournament rods I’ve had were very tip heavy.
  21. The best and most reasonable way to get swimjigs is to buy 4 packs of Boss swimjig heads and 5 packs of Boss skirts and assemble them yourself. I went through buying them, assembled, and losing them. I’m a super fan of using them, and will only use the ones I assemble now. The Boss heads come with high quality Mustad hooks, look into them. Tackle warehouse has them.
  22. I use 8 and 10lb Power Pro yellow line and I find it totally helps out when waiting to hit bottom, but more so when getting hits, Seeing small line jumps and pops is way easier. When I was using 6lb mono or flouro seeing line movements was more difficult.
  23. 100% Great quality, and really reasonably priced, around $60 for twp piece and $95 for one piece. I sold my G Loomis panfish rod after I tried one. Actually I bought two Teton rods.
  24. No is not politically motivated, it's people who are worried like the rest of the world. It's not about wiping out the world it's about being sensible.
  25. Cool application. What type and size line do you use? What rod?
