Pop-R's I tie direct, all walking baits a Tactical Anglers clip. The strongest easiest to use snap out there. I always remove all the line tie split rings too.

Rapala J-5 and J-7 are very light lures, more suited for UL or light action rods. If you want a Loomis rod the SJR 721 is a 6' spinning rod that would handle lures like what you describe great. It would also be excellent for small jigs (1/16oz-1/4oz), top water, small X-Raps. The shorter length may suit you more that the 7-6" rod. the 903 is for much heavier lures than what you describe.

I love the Dobyns Fury 6'6" 663c rod for Bandit 100 and other small crankbaits. Great rods for moving baits like that.

What braid do you use? Do you use it to color match your rod guide wraps or because you like the way the line works? Haha

Yeah I have that in consideration. My question is pretty specific, what everyone has in mind when "lighter jigs" is mentioned.

I often see rod manufacturers and article writers mention "great for lighter Jigs", and "perfect for lighter t-rigs" I never really get what they are getting at exactly. I have my idea, but who knows what everyone else has in mind. I'm not talking about ned rigs or hair jigs, I'm talking about standard skirted style jigs.

Yup to all of that 1, 2, and 3. Question 4 is the right weight for the depth you're fishing. I would say 1/8 and 3/16oz are good starting points. If you want to fish 8-15' deep a 1/4oz is cool.

I have had SMB and LMB from really clean water lakes and do not enjoy them much at all. If I want to catch and eat I prefer Pike, perch and Sunfish.

I have a 6’6”, 6’8” medium spinning rod and a 6’10” MH casting rod. The spinning rods are super crisp and fish exactly with in their weight specs. Super light/balanced and sensitive. The casting rod has some great backbone and is sensitive. Really well made rods with nice components. I don’t know the specific model you are asking about.

Hey. Is this the rod that's rated from 6-10lb line? I'm looking for something that is below the 10-17lb line rating for light weight jigs. But the 6-10lb rating seems really light. I'll probably be using all 12lb line, maybe 10 on occation. It looks like St Croix deleted the 7MLF rod from the Avid lineup.

I had that part break on an old reel of mine too. I super glued it from the back, could never tell it had an issue after that.

Every good quality spinning reel may need to have the line lay washers adjusted. It has NOTHING to do with the brand. It's a very common thing to add or remove the washers. Some people prefer to have the line thicker at the lip and some at the base of the spool. If line is ever thicker in either direction when spooling stop, and add or remove a washer to correct your issue to have the line lay as you want it.

With this rod you will be overpowered for these light of weights.

I would recommend the Tatula LT reels. If you like smaller reels get the 2000, if you like a little bit bigger reels get the 3000 shallow spool version. The 3000 shallow spool version has the same line capacity as the 2000, and is slightly heavier. Both are feather light, and both are killer reels!

As you can see my car is very small. So 7' rod tubes won't fit inside the car. I built this rig and it's a perfect solution for 7-8 rods up to 7'3". It's made from 4" drain tubing with 4" end caps from Home Depot. It took a minute to find the "U" bolts. I got them local from McMaster-Carr. I added 1" foam to the end caps and screwed them in with four shallow 1/4" screws. The bottom never comes off, and the top screws have to come out when loading/unloading. total cost was $36.00. It's fantastic! except cleaning the bugs off the front is nasty business. In my opinion transporting with the reels attached is a bad idea. It would put a lot of strain on you reel seats and reels too.

St Croix Mojo Glass rod for me. Great at keeping the fish pinned after the strike.

That's a Cabela's Swim Minnow swim bait. My favorite swim bait of all time. It makes an excellent swim jig trailer, and is excellent on a 5/0 belly weighted Gamakatsu superline hook. You can replace it with the Cabela's Swim Minnow swim bait. It's the exact same.

Hey. Do you think this MBR Medium has enough power to fish 5/16oz finesse jigs and shakey heads with the hook buried in the worm? I'm guessing it's similar to a medium action spinning rod which I have no issues doing these two presentations with.

I'm more in the Expride price range than the GLX.
