  1. Thanks. What's crazy is that I got into green bass because of one thing: Topwater. Now? I rarely throw topwater. Not sure why, it's the most exciting way to fish.
  2. I can't remember who it was but yes. He shared a video of a guy throwing a Bull Flat on a jig. The jigs are arriving tomorrow and I am EXCITED.
  3. Any idea if line weight makes any difference when it comes to tip wrap? For example, 30 lb vs 50 lb? Went out last night for a bit and kept having to mess with the braid wrapping around the rod. Was using 20lb.
  4. Thanks for the reply. I ended up purchasing 30 lb. 832 8 strand. Gets here tomorrow.
  5. How short we talking? Like a foot?
  6. Well I think I have it down to the 22 Bantam 150 or the 25 Tatula 150. Not sure which is best. ^^^^^^^^^^^ 6 minutes after I post the above I order the Bantam. LOL Not to mention hopefully a free lure out of the transaction. My favorite!
  7. Absolutely SHOCKED nothing in Iowa made the list.
  8. I do the same. The other day I caught two with a crankbait and then for some reason thought something else would be BETTER. Several casts later I asked myself why did I put down a rod that was catching fish and pick up something else. I can't explain why I do what I do. Doctors can't either...
  9. Of course they are, just bought one yesterday. UGH! Just looked, their list price on Amazon is actually LESS than their website and everywhere else. I wonder if that's a mistake? I ended up paying an extra $12 so not a huge deal. Got mine 20% off.
  10. Thanks. Ordered the line this morning as well. 10 lb Tatsu.
  11. So a spinnerbait/bladed jig hybrid??? ^^^^ not sure why it says "bladed jig", not what I posted. Stupid.
  12. I wonder how a Tatula would compare to say a Curado? Very similar in price. I found a 150 sized Shimano Bantam from Japan as well. IDK, 150 and 200 are very limited it seems.
  13. Mostly 3XD's and 5XD's or other brands that would be similar. Basically depths that range from 10-15 feet. Looks like 7/16 oz and 5/8 oz range.
  14. Thanks for the link. But unless I'm missing something, I can get in cheaper here in the states.
  15. LOL, if she didn't handle the bills it could be an option. Quick update, ORDER PLACED.
  16. Are there many JDM models out there in the 200 size? Seems like most are 70 or 100. Just ordered a crankbait rod that should bomb them out there and figured a larger size would be better. Thanks!
  17. Seems like you can fish a popper much slower which allows you to keep it in front of their noses longer. Compared to a buzzbait/plopper. If there's not a lot of junk to worry about, your hooking percentage would be much higher than say a frog.
  18. Yeah in a perfect world you need three if not more. That's why this is so hard for me. Buying just one is complicated, at least for me. I'm probably going to purchase something that is ideal in 15 feet of water and less. Should be ideal for say 3XD's and 5XD's. Without a boat/electronics, I'll hold off on the deeper cranks for now. There's just one lake that has a lot of deep water where 20 foot cranks etc would be great.
  19. IDK, I think looking for a "perfect" rod to handle 3XD up to 6XD might be a pipe dream. It's either going to be too light for the 6XD or too heavy for the 3XD. I think it needs to be up to 5XD. 6XD and up needs a whole different stick. Still looking to just purchase one right now. Wife wouldn't be too happy as I've already purchased a high end combo this year. The search continues.
  20. Hopefully you caught at least ONE fish. All worth it then.
  21. I've never heard of it so I did a quick Google search. Do they have a bad reputation out there? Looks like they like to eat salmon/trout eggs?
  22. Thanks for your thoughts. I'll never know exactly the what and why, all I can do is try to learn from my mistakes. Heck it could have been from my dang cat. Not kidding! LOL Yesterday I was messing with a slight backlash in my living room. I got it fixed and when I reeled in all of the line some of it was wet with nicks in it. The little chit was biting on it. So one more rule for me, don't mess with line unless the cats (we have 2) are locked in a bedroom. :)
  23. I’m diabetic so I absolutely have to have something in my tackle bag. Paddling around for a decent amount of time can get me low. I have some hard candies to suck on if I need them. Otherwise I just throw a granola bar or some peanut butter pretzels in a bag. To me, something to eat is more important than a life jacket.
  24. I’m pretty sure this was the main problem. With that said, I have a feeling if the drag would have given out a little line there would have been slightly less tension on the line and I would have been able to land her. I can’t 100% say it wasn’t the knot. But same thing, drag works maybe there’s less tension. All I know is that I fought her for at least 10-15 seconds, she pulled hard under my kayak and my pole was bent like crazy. The only time I saw her was when I was getting her up and she turned her head away and took off from me. That’s when “it” happened. IDK, clearly no expert. :)
  25. What color do you use? I’ve only had the Albino. Looked sooooo good with the jig I had with it.
