  1. Oh I would have jumped in if I saw the line. I was frantically looking like a girl that just dropped her favorite Barbie Doll in the lake. I grabbed a jig and tried to snag the line but to no avail.
  2. I bought a good 6 or so Jackhammers and have hardly used them. There's just sooooo many lures to choose from these days. Paralysis by analysis. I love spinnerbaits and I'm currently loving swim jigs. Seems like a chatterbaite would be the perfect blend right? Would be so nice if we had 4 arms.
  3. I treat my tackle like it's made of gold. All my rods come inside the house after I'm done fishing. I don't like heat or cold mess with them.
  4. Went out last night. Tied on a brand new Vision 110. Yes, those stupid little $25 lures. Caught a couple small bass, nothing big. Threw it out, jerk jerk, jerk, fish hits, line breaks around the rod. The rod is perfect for jerkbaits, the line is Tatsu (10 lb) that's never been backlashed. The line was put on last fall and I used it a good amount then and this year. This combo ONLY throws jerkbaits. It wasn't the knot that broke, it wasn't even close to the lure. It broke 40 feet from there, at least, at the rod. Not sure if it was at the tip, I want to say it was somewhere in the guides. Does line, especially fluorocarbon break down from the constant jerking? When I tie a new jerkbait on, I normally just remove around a foot or less line. But that's line at the end, once again this was far from the end. I'm now wondering if my drag wasn't loose enough. I'm wondering if I gave another jerk, AFTER the fish was on and it snapped the line. There's a little give with the drag but not a ton. Rod is the Megabass OneTen Special so it's a great rod with good action. I messed up somewhere unless it was just a fluke. No pun intended. Thoughts? THANKS! PS Telling your wife you just lost a brand new $25 lure wasn't the play either.
  5. No way I’m going to “gamble” on what some random people are going to throw in a box. No thanks. PS I don’t like to gamble gamble either. Now sports betting is a different story. lol
  6. I see a lot of people use this type (below). But to me they don't seem very accurate. I use the hard plastic trough like board.
  7. Yeah I was surprised. I've never punched in my life so it's just not a technique I use. Maybe someday when I get a boat.
  8. You might be my long lost brother. This is exactly me. I could have a nicer newer truck. I could have this and that, but I'm a saver for the most part. So if want to splurge on a $650 rod once and a while, I'll buy one. Do I have 10 of them? No. But maybe like 4 and growing each year.
  9. I'm good, thanks though.
  10. I watched a little bit of the Bassmaster event this weekend. The guy that won it was flipping into an area that was almost disgusting looking. The announcer called it a trash or junk mat. It was basically an area that had collected a ton of floating debris. Sticks, leaves, you name it. Here's a short video showing it.
  11. If you can find a creek that connects with a river you are about guaranteed to find some fish, good ones as well. In the summer heat, a smallmouth would much rather be in cooler/cleaner water. A buddy of mine has a creek that runs through his place. The creek is about a 2 mile stretch to a medium sized Iowa river. Shocking how big some of the bass are in it.
  12. Funny how we all have our own preferences. The only time I use a palomar is for braid. Flouro I use the double pitzen. Mono is improved clinch. I wish I could use the improved clinch for everything. First knot I taught myself as a kid. Simple, doesn't waste much line. Can do it with my eyes closed (well almost). Seems like everything you see on the world wide web says you can't use knots for certain types of line. IDK, not an expert, I'm a simple man that just likes to catch fish.
  13. I agree with this. Do they get paid to say "I only use ZXY crankbait"? You bet. But they aren't making much if any to use braid to fluoro.
  14. Curious, what kind of line are you using? Aren't palomar knots a no-no with flouro?
  15. I'd say there's a 0.00% chance he did. Not trying to knock the kid but he said he researched it for weeks and come to find out he might have did a couple google searches on stuff that probably didn't even matter. Then received a few negative responses and quickly pivoted to "sounds like I'll do it in retirement". If a couple of internet strangers change your dream in a day, it really wasn't much of a dream.
  16. Definitely not the first time I've heard this. I don't own any P5 spinning rods, for some reason the handle turns me off. You like it?
  17. Me? No. NRX or P5 for me. With that said, there are A LOT of consumers out there with deep pockets that look for the highest dollar gear. They buy items that cost the most just because they assume it’s the best, when sometimes it’s not. People will buy.
  18. This is complete GARBAGE advice. You are clearly a dishonest and clueless business owner. Not to mention you have ZERO respect for your employees. You tell this man he doesn’t need to hire an accountant when it sounds like YOU need an accountant. You think you “know all about that” but you clearly know nothing about running a business, accounting, as well as the legality of it. Signed, Long time CPA that works with businesses every day
  19. Hi Pat, is there a bait keeper on them? Thanks!
