  1. I have mine on a Megabass Flatside Special. I use it for cranks and jerksbaits.
  2. This year I've gotten way more bites with a Rage Bug than with a Rage Tail Craw.
  3. In keeping with the pattern I've been having, caught a few on a jerkbait at around 5 feet deep, and then caught a 20" bouncing a lipless crank off a rocky bottom next to a steep drop in 20 feet of water. Surface temp was 48. Total cloud cover and very windy so the surface temp wasn't going to warm up today.
  4. I set the hook and just keep constant pressure. Early this summer I thought I was snagged in a bunch of wood so I paddled over in my kayak to try and free it. It was a quarry with very clear water and as I floated up I saw a bass down there in about 6 feet of water, then I noticed my hook was "snagged" in its jaw! It took me a couple minutes but I slowly worked it around a couple roots and into my kayak. It was pretty cool to be able to watch the process.
  5. I use a M/Mod for topwater treble baits except........... Whopper Plopper...........MH/Fast But I only throw the 110..
  6. Last year the fall bite for me started when the water temps got around 50 and the water was clear. I was out Saturday and the water was still 53 and still a bit murky. Weather permitting I'm hoping this Saturday or Sunday is the day. My best fall day was November 8th last year........
  7. The 80X was my favorite for a few weeks in early fall.
  8. Ha, two seasons ago I was doing pretty good with a popper and had to stop using it because the d**n birds kept swooping down and trying to get the lure......
  9. Paddletail on a weighted swimbait hook? I'll do that when I have trouble ripping a full jig/paddletail through them. But I've found that ripping the jig through gets me some nice bites.
  10. I was a St Croix guy and still am. Have been for many years. But........................this year I purchased a Levante 19 Braillist, which led to two Orochi XX Braillists. They serve as my bottom jig, swim/chatterbait, and plastics rods. Now I have a Flatside Special........... Oh the financial agony of having a new fave.............lol
  11. I like to start where water temp is stable, then move to the shallows once the bite slows down or the shallow water warms up, especially around rocks or wood.
  12. The same plan I use every time I go out this time of year.
  13. On Sunday I caught two 4 lb'ers in 12-14 feet of water on a jig/craw. A couple hours later I caught a 5+ in 2 feet of water on a jig/craw. I would go to the reservoir.
  14. I buy uninsulated and layer. Those things make me sweat anyway, no matter how they're vented etc.
  15. After my outing on Sunday I'd agree. I caught a bunch of 2 pounders on a shad colored jerkbait, I caught three over 4 pounds, one being over five pounds on a jig/crawfish combo.
  16. For me it's whatever handle comes with the rod I want. It doesn't really matter to me and I don't really notice a difference. I had to go look at what I brought on my kayak Sunday. Three full handles, three split. I couldn't have told you without looking.
  17. Morning is my favorite time to fish right now. As the sun comes up I hit rocks and timber close to deeper water. Swim jigs and flat sided crank baits have been working for me the last few times out. I've actually had the best luck where the shade/sun line goes across the water next to the timber. I never noticed that before but that doesn't mean it wasn't happening. LOL Later in the morning I've been fishing the downward slopes off of points with jigs/craw trailer, casting shallow and working deep to let the bass tell me where they are.
  18. The only reason I don't use them on non treble hook baits is that I fish a lot of vegetation and the snap is just another thing to snag the slop...lol
  19. I've gone to Beck a couple of times this year, always catch a few but it's a small lake and not really worth it IMO. I've never gone to Big Bend.
  20. I agree with what you're saying regarding spinnerbaits with the open wire. But to be clear, he's referring to just snaps, not snap swivels.
  21. In a smaller watertight Plano box. Not sure of the exact size. I also line the inside of the lid with athletic tape to keep hooks, snaps, etc from migrating into other sections.
  22. My third Braillist arrived today! LOL One is a Levante 2019 that I use for T-rigs and weightless plastics The two Orochi XX's are for jigs, a swim or chatterbait and a bottom contact jig.
  23. I needed a second Levante 2019 Braillist when they had their recall so I bit the bullet and bought the Orochi XX instead. Both are very nice, but I just ordered another Orochi XX and would do so even if the Levante was available right now. The Orochi has spoiled me. So yes, do the upgrade.
  24. The only lures I use snaps with are crankbaits and jerkbaits.
  25. I tried fishing with my son in a canoe on a small pond last summer. It was fairly windy, if I was in my kayak I would have barely noticed it. In the canoe it blew us around like a kite.
