  1. I just purchased a Sea Ghost 130, moving on from an Atak 120. I'm still setting it up but I don't think it will make a difference in a bad way.
  2. Yes, but only because I have some GoPro Video's that I zoom in and slow down. I'm sure some are small fish but some are big blow ups that completely miss.
  3. Two things I do, when I'm frogging I also have another rod right next to me with a weightless t-rigged Senko or Rage Bug for follow up. This year I tried the Jackall KAERA frog, same standard weight with a little smaller profile. Like you I noticed the bass were better at inhaling the entire frog into their mouth and then better success with hookup rates. One thing that always amazes me though is how often the bass totally misses the frog, sometimes by quite a bit...
  4. I use 30 pound braid for all my jigs, with no leader. Never had a problem and never cast it all out even if I tried!
  5. Well I'm selling my Atak 120 for $600 but you're a bit far away.
  6. I use Bluegill Flash, Sexy Shad, or Sungill depending on conditions.
  7. I almost always try a moving bait first to cover water. If it's not working I'll try a Keitech 3.8 on a weighted swimbait hook and work it slow. Still not working I'll T-rig a Senko if there is decent water clarity, a Rage Craw if visibility is limited.
  8. When I just got back into bass fishing after my semi-retirement I bet that first summer I caught 95% of my bass on either wacky rigged or weightless t-rigged Senko's. Now I bet 10% are caught t-rigged weightless or with a weight, but that 10% includes Senko's, Rage craws, and Rage bugs. I don't think I've caught any wacky style, and don't think I've even tried it more than once this year.
  9. I generally use mine on 3/8 oz swimjig heads, chatterbaits, and spinnerbaits. I will on occasion if the bite is slow, shrink my presentation and put them on a siwimbait hook which will sometimes coax some bites. The swimbait hook will not get as deep as the swimjig.
  10. I love my St Croix rods, that being said earlier this year I bought a couple of Levante 19's and absolutely love them. I ruined it by buying an Orochi XX when I needed a rod and Levante had the recall. I bought the Braillist. I have a Braillist in both the Levante 19 and the Orochi XX. The Orochi is far and away my favorite rod.
  11. No I don't. I currently have the Levante 2019 Flatside and Braillist as well as an Orochi XX Braillist.
  12. A MH/Fast Currently aSt Croix AvidX. But I also have two Brailists that I would use too.
  13. The power and action would be too light for my liking on a spinnerbait, or most single hook lures for that matter.
  14. But you may be giving the fish a reason to not strike the hook by striking the blades. I'm not basing this on experience just a counterpoint.
  15. I always have a trailer on my spinnerbaits. Usually a paddletail.
  16. I fish both on 30 pound braid. But I also put a buzzbait on my frogging rod last week because of the way things were working out. It has 65 pound braid and I did quite well with it.
  17. The one and only musky I have ever caught was a musky. Fishing weeds in 3 feet of water with a Senko of all things. 48" and the first thing I thought when I got it in the net (Well, some of it in the net) was "Now what do I do?" LOL
  18. Swim jig or a crankbait depending on vegetation........ I'll throw a spinnerbait in the mix too.
  19. There's a learning curve. I'm in my third summer of kayak fishing. No bags, just plano boxes in a crate. I also bring six rods. The paddling and keeping position can be quite challenging but if you stick with it you will get better at it. I also bring 8 3600 boxes of tackle that sits in the crate behind me but have a 7th that sits under my seat. That one is where I put the various lures I think I'll need that day but with the option of having a bunch of stuff behind me as needed. As I've gotten better at this fishing thing I find myself very rarely having to reach behind me other than to replace plastics if I'm using the and having success. The main key is to workout where you want everything to be within the kayak so it's efficient when you're paddling, when you're fishing, and when you have a fish in the boat. Organization is key to making it an enjoyable experience.
  20. I use Dirty Jigs and 6th Sense, 99% of the time with Keitech Fat Impact 3.8 inch trailers. I run them around the weeds, over the weeds, I rip them through the weeds, open water over points, around docks, along shorelines, drop offs, stumps.................um, apparently I use them everywhere. Color depends on conditions but mostly shad and blue gill colors. I use Keitech with metal flake colors if the sun is out.
  21. I've caught one fish on a Senko before I've replaced it, I've caught several before I've replaced it. I guess it depends on how ticked off the fish I just caught is! LOL If I can't get the hook to hold the Senko right I replace it.
  22. Exactly. I've use Rage Tail a lot. Last week I went through two packs of Black/Blue Flake in 4 hours of catching bass. I've tried others for various reasons but always go back...........
  23. I use straight braid, from 20 lb up to 65. I don't use leaders. I've experimented with them and determined no fish catching difference at least for me. Plus I found them to be a pain in the butt...lol
  24. My only fishing superstition is if I catch a decent bass on my first cast it's the kiss of death for the rest of the day......lol
  25. I use an AvidX H/Fast paired up with a Lew's Super Duty Speed Spool and love it.
