Is any one else tired of hearing about the SEXY SHAD!!!
I refused to buy one until my buddy Peter, from this forum, caught 2 bass back to back over 8lbs, here is a pic of the bigger one. I also like the fact that KVD says he uses the sexy shad color almost exclusively on tour. Marketing hype yes, but I can't argue against the sexy shad success. Here is a picture of the fish he caught:

Should wounded soldiers be forced to pay?
Using public money to bail out companies that are on the brink of disaster and then cutting veterans benefits is right up a politician's alley. If any local representative backs this, he is not going to get my vote. I am surprised Mr. Populist's administration thought this up.

Everglades Exploration
My buddy and I took the jon boat out to do some Everglades canal exploration around Florida City. Our primary target was peacock bass , but we couldn't help to switch to fishing for LM bass after seeing the size of some of them in the clear deep waters of the limestone based canals. After, portaging the jon boat to some less pressured waters we hit pay dirt. Ended up catching about 12LM between 1-3lbs and 1 peacock about 2lbs, but I pulled out a 6lb 13oz bucket mouth with an old school purple fire tail squirming worm. Had a similar size fish hit and then follow a lucky craft crankbait to the boat, but she just left us :'( as it swam away slowly. In the end we realized an afternoon isn't enough to fish the canals so we plan on going back!

IMX or St. Croix Legend Tournement?
Mojo rods are good, but fish an IMX or a Legend Tournament for a day and you'll modify your comment. To get to the original question its a toss up, great rods though. I love my IMX custom.

What frog for Heavy lilly pads
I am a frog lure connoisseur have tried just about all the popular floating frogs. IMO the best all around frog is the Spro Bronzeye. If I am tossing in super thick stuff I like the Swamp Donkey since it floats a bit higher and has a smaller narrower profile. The newer popper by Spro is good for something a bit different. I am not a big fan of the Mann's frogs though.

Believe in "E.T."?
Most likely life on other planets exist. No, I don't believe any advanced life forms have visited earth or even come close (Prime Directive). Nevertheless, if E.T. could wisk me away to a planet full of trophy game fish along with my boat and all my tackle I'd be in heaven. I'd ask him to bring me back though so I could post the pics of my fishing trip on the forum ;D. To each his own.

Yamaha Trim Gauge Question (Answered)
I have a Yamaha Vmax with a digital trim gauge like the one pictured below, but my trim indicator (the bars on the right on the picture) always stays full with the top one blinking. I am getting tired of looking back or or relying on "feel" for correct trim setting. How do I get it to indicate correctly? Disregard the question. After tinkering in my garage I found out that it was my plastic trim sender cam. It broke at the bracket so it wouldn't send a signal to the gauge.

bow mount trolling motor on jon boat
I made an aluminum one based on the phote below, doesn't sacrifice deck space and you can use a transom mount and just turn the head. Works great.

Tobacco user? Prepare to bend over...
Can't wait till they start taxing ammo, so those of us who like hunting or shooting can't afford to do it. I guess someone has to pay for spending gone out of control! Does tax on tobacco apply to Indian Reservations?

Calcutta 200b
The calcutta should do the trick, I would also consider Daiwa Inshore low profile reel, it may be a little lighter and save you some $$$. A 7ft. med fast action may be a little light for flipping though! At least go medium heavy.

My swimbait setup
Awesome man! The swimbait monkey jumped on my back about a month ago. I ended with the following: Dobyns Champ Swimbait Rods 7'9" (1 to 5 ozs), put a Calcutta 200GTB and spooled her up with Suffix Elite 20. Matt Lures hard and soft bluegill A couple of Matt Shads 165 Sebile Magic Swimmer Spro BBZ-1 Black Dog Shell Cracker (Flea Market) So far caught a 3lb on the Sebile Magic and had a huge swirl on the Matt Hard Bluegill, but I can't wait to cast those big boys on some of my honey holes. ;D Post your first sow on your new setup!

Lake Walk in the Water?
Have you ever been to the Stick Marsh/ Farm Pond? If not I think you should seriously consider it. Hire George Welcome to show you the ropes if you are bringing your own boat down since they call it Stick Marsh for a reason. He may also refer to you some guides he recommends for the lakes you referred to. Lake Walk in the Water is awesome, I haven't been in a few years, but my buddy just went last month and did great, caught his personal best of 9lb 8ozs. and said most fish were 2-4lbs. I think he went with Captain Reno, if I recall correctly.

Calcutta 200b
Great reel, what are you going to be using it for? Technique and rod to be placed on? I have a 200GTB that is my utilitarian reel can do anything from light saltwater to flip a jig.

Free Shoes U. on 4 years probation
I actually went there from 92-98, the GOLDEN YEARS! Great school, but I am not sure what is happening there anymore, I don't know whether its Bowden losing control or the caliber of student athlete they are recruiting. Its a shame that such a scandal has rocked its athletic programs to the degree they have. I am not condoning it, but I wonder how many other student athletes throughout the NCAA haven't been caught. I believe since its a high profile program the NCAA is setting an example. I guess I am going have to get used to being made fun of by those nice Gator Fans! I HATE TEBOW, he so d**n straight he makes a ruler look crooked
